Digital Pinball Competitions

Annoyingly on Steam the 50% off you get if you previously bought the platinum pack only applies to buying all the items you don't have. Individually they are about £2 each.

I'm not a huge fan of the Zac game. I admire and value their commitment but I don't much like the look of and feel of their tables. The lighting is very odd and makes it difficult to see what's going on. They do seem to be constantly working to improve so I do regularly check back on the game and use it to practise any Zac games that are coming up in real life tournaments.

Is STEAM a PC based platform or can this also run on iOS?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. Steam is a gaming platform on Windows PCs and Laptops and I believe it is also on Macs. Never been a big user of it as I already had migrated away from PC gaming by the time Steam really took off. Still somehow managed to build a huge backlog of games on Steam though as the prices, like the Apple Store, are ludicrously cheap what with all the flash sales. Wish us console gamers got more discounts like that [emoji23]

Couple of screenies. Any sign of next PFX3 table pick yet?

@yellowreggae Thanks for the scores. Will pass them onto Corneel and he can update the leaderboards. You’re TTT on these in-game high score tables, correct?

Oh and you must’ve missed the early post I made announcing the next PINBALL FX3 tournament. I reposted it above - HURRICANE - p/w to join is; pikmin and the user who created this tournament is CW13. You should be able to join via the in-game tournament tabs unless you playing on PS4. Then you have to play - Classic-Arcade and post a screenshot of your score. Good luck!

Can’t remember if this was already brought up but the two Stern table packs for TPA and STERN PINBALL have been 50% off in North America - not sure about other regions.

Currently this pack is still available at half-price discount:

The new selection of tables for June’s monthly high-score challenges are:

CLASS OF 1812 (THE PINBALL ARCADE)
51f4da8d7c88fa505225c7773b9dbb6f.jpg

Frightful fun for all ages! This supernatural themed table was designed by Ray Tanzer and Joe Kaminkow. Players are challenged with collecting five unique characters by lighting all of the Bonus Level Lamps. The Playfield features a severed hand and an animated mechanical beating heart and chattering teeth, synchronized to the games music and speech. 1,668 units of the table were produced.

MUSTANG Premium “Boss” (STERN PINBALL ARCADE, TPA)
Mustang celebrates 50 years of one of the most iconic muscle cars ever made, the Ford Mustang. Players are challenged to race a variety of Mustangs against an array of colorful characters in eight different racing scenarios including drag racing, drifting and road racing. This is a fast playing table with clear shot goals and excellent multi-ball modes. The gorgeous playfield features twin stacked ramps, full spectrum color LEDs, a show car on a turntable and artwork by famed Ford GT car artist and designer Camilo Pardo. Actual Mustang engine sounds, narration by professional race car driver and TV host, Tanner Foust and an awesome soundtrack featuring eight generational cruising tunes makes this table a fitting tribute to an American classic!

SPACE SHUTTLE [2016 remake] (ZACCARIA PINBALL | 3-Ball | Simulation)

A remake of the 1980 pinball machine produced by Zaccaria.

High scores should be posted with a photo and will then be placed on the custom leaderboards as always: https://www.iscored.info/?mode=public&user=Corneel

My first score entry for June’s high-score chase on MUSTANG Premium “Boss” Edition. Playing this on STERN PINBALL ARCADE, don’t know the table or what to shoot for but like the different modes/music tracks you can select and seems to have plenty going on. Going to enjoy playing this one.

Some scores. How that dude got 150m on Hurricane I have no idea. I am really struggling with that table on Steam. Do the tables play differently on different platforms? Also I buckled and bought all the Zac remakes...

I really like the Story Mode on Zac, you start with 10 balls and 99 seconds, you must meet an objective on each Zac table then it morphs into another. Some of the objectives are interesting as they don't work physically e.g. must roll over flashing feature lights.

@Lroy perhaps we could compete at Story Mode one month, I think it's free unlike the Campaign mode.

@astyy Feel free to set out the rules for a Story Mode challenge. Not played it much, so not sure what you have in mind but I’m game.

@yellowreggae The Williams tables in FX3 should definitely play the same e.g. if we are all using the same physics set-up such as Classic-Arcade it will be the same across the board. That said, I’d imagine Steam and XBOX/PS4 might have some better ‘graphics’ over Switch due to hardware horsepower.

It’s a different story on mobile iOS / Android I would imagine but honestly barely touched those apps, so don’t know.

Well I have to say whoever it is who got the 140m after only a day or so deserves a pat on the back because I've been playing hard all day and struggling to get even half that! I'm enjoying the challenge though.

@yellowreggae There’s a bunch of really top players (from Germany, from Argentina) who chip in with the FX3 tourneys and there’s often a score high enough to rank among the highest globally for the chosen table.

If you want to chat to some of these fellas, head over to the Adult Switch Gamers Discord or the official PBX3 Discord, we also get players from the Digital Pinball Fans Forum.

I’ll try and post a link or two for these when I can. Alternatively, scroll back up to my first post or two. May already have put links to those places up?

In Story Mode you rack up a cumulative score which only increments at the next table start when the previous table objectives are completed. If you go into any table your Story Mode hi score is shown in the Leaderboard. For the purposes of "research", I just played up to Fire Mountain scoring 3,019 from the progress bar this is just over half way through. So far the tables presented chronologically seems to be the same each time, so would be an even playfield

@astyy Cool, so do you envisage us playing the Story Mode for a set time e.g. week or month? Or for a set number of attempts - 1, 3 unlimited in that time?

Do we then just post our leaderboard/progress score in here?

Just read over on Digital Pinball Fans that FarSight have announced they are losing the licence to sell the AC/DC table at the end of the month. Hence why it has been on sale across multiple platforms. If you want it for THE PINBALL ARCADE or STERN PINBALL ARCADE, grab it before the June 30th deadline.

Obviously, this fuels more speculation on whether FarSight will lose other Stern tables from TPA and SPA, whether this means they’ll come to Zen’s PINBALL FX3 at some stage.

Most curious of all, FarSight apparently said in his same announcement over on their FB Page, that they are ‘working on new tables’.

Will be interesting to see how this develops.

Well done all and congrats to our worthy winner Tute Primus. Note that JoyRider’s score is void as he very honestly reported a perpetual scoring bug in setting that score.

Now we wait for Alanar to choose the next table.

Many thanks to Alanar for hosting on this occasion and round of applause to our winner Tarek. Well played all who took part and thank you for playing digital pinball alongside one another.

The next tourney table will be chosen by MonkeySpasm and the details on how to join shall be shared here when I know them.
