Complete Creature from the faded lagoon

Hey Scott I've got some replacement decals for the apron if you need. Both the 3 apron decals and the universal monsters logo. On the house.

Well the new board arrived.

Whipped out the old one...

Installed the new one and J120 and J115 won't fit... The connectors used aren't the original factory type.

So another £50 later i've ordered some IDC headers, the insertion tool and Next day shipping... This pin is a money pit!

So was constantly going Mylar or clear, mylar or clear on this one.

Went with the clear.

Initial coat down.

Matt Black Acrylics that showed previously (check before and after) have now gone gloss and completely merge with the original black.

Will assess and weigh up a second a coat.

@David_Vi in case you wanted to see.

Your impatience is the money pit!
Could have sent you those connectors for free!

My free time to burn on this pin is coming to an end so I really need to finish this up this weekend.

Still need that black lamp holder btw ;)

🤣

Apron cards arrived. Clear looks good only in a patched area. Look like 'I'm in the clear'

@Gonzo dad joke.

Flippers don't work despite replacement. The fire probably caused something else. But it's nearly there!

Installing the HolomodSP was a bit stressful not going to lie. Especially when I just bought a new driver board and I'm being asked to splice power wires!

Also here's the new headers wired up. Glad to have that jankay wiring gone tbh..

You might want to snip the excess back so there’s not exposed cable ends - my OCD doesn’t like how messy it looks either.

Yeah don't worry, they've already been tidied up I just didn't want to cut them while I was still testing. They look a far sight better than the existing wiring!

Flippers now working!

New boards installed but was still no life in flippers.

Went into Switch Edge test nothing coming back from activating the switches on either flipper.

Lifted up the playfield got the DMM out. Nothing on the 12v....

Blown fuse?

Checked the fliptronics board. All 4 fuses looks good.

Checked the ones (F115 and F116 I think relate to 12v) all good there too.

Go back to the connector header. Noticed the connector pin is covered in soot from the burn out. Gave it a clean and boom all working!

So that's 4 for 4 on pin restorations so far :D

Wife got a certain someone famous in the pinball world to do a custom call out to 'move your car!'

Despite my wifes best attempts to repaint the Start Combo the paint and wood started to seperate under the mylar from repeated falls...

I bit the bullet and sanded (eep) and wood filled the area. Followed by isoprophyl alchohol to clear up the area and then applied the Insert I bought a few weeks back.

Then applied mylar over the top.

Thankfully the car area is fairing much better but that's because I used clear and it doesn't have a ball bouncing on top of it every 5 seconds.

Cliff has shipped my protectors as of Thursday last week so I imagine a week or so and they'll arrive. Good timing too as the wood filler is getting a beating from the balls.
