Complete (build) Log 'cavity wall' cabin Pinball Room

Thats without planning permission... if you have PP then you can accomplish whatever they allow you to :D

Hi Julian, are you sure about that because everything I have read is 2.4m to the eaves, ONLY if it is more than 3m from any boundary. If it is within 2m of a boundary(which yours looks like it is) the TOTAL height cannot exceed 2.5m ??

I'm confused !!!

Cheers Kev

I did go down the planning permission route as the neighbor has a huge gym/office I kind of knew that they would not turn it down, it had to be treated with fire retardant paint/stain though.

Stone him!
Stone him!

By the way I can say that being the owner of a Magners San Siro table.

Stone us all!
:cuckoo: :hmm:

I am stunned at just how small that football table looks. My one at home takes up 1/3 of the available space without role standing round it trying to play.

Are you putting carpet in ? Or sealing the floor with varnish ? That light wood could get quite dirty

Good thought / question, I have not planned on carpet, I do have 2 dogs as such when them come in as I do in the house clean their paws in winter / rainy days.

I was also not planning to varnish, just make sure I vacuum and mop every week.

I could get a Lebowski rug down the middle....

Varnish the floor, and then it could be "mopped" if it got too dirty?? Just a thought...

If you dont Varnish, the wood will get dirty, with no real option to clean other than sanding (it's not good if you mop an untreated floor - you tend to find that it smudges the dirt around the wood, and also when wood gets wet it will swell....)

I have a mutt, however if i'm Mid game, the last thing i'd be wanting to do is stop to let him in and wipe his feet.... let alone have him scratching at the door wanting in :D

it occurred to me that you might want to get your flooring sorted out now when you have the open space

That pine will go a dirty grey colour very quickly

Personally, I would consider carpeting it. I suspect that it might be quite "echoey" and carpet will help with this.

Why would you use Master of Puppets on the floor, Stern only made 500 of them.

Sorry just every time when an abbreviation comes up and I don't know it I need to click on it to find out.

I'd agree with the other commitments and you need to cover the floor with something be it varnish or carpet, you'll regret not doing it and then your only choice will be carpet or another floor on top.

Very nice work though

Carpet tiles would be the way forward, we used them in our office, easy to replace the odd tile should they get too mucky.
No need to glue them down, they will stay where they are when the whole floor is covered

I think we bought ours from B&Q on a promotional deal.

Hi Julian,

Just starting to design my 'shed' now and I need to know is the membrane on the outside the same as then one on the inside walls ie. both breathable vapour barriers ?

Cheers Kev

Nope, the one 'outside' was the membrane, and the one inside was just plastic (to floor, walls & roof).

Cheers

Ah ok, I did wonder because I don't think there were any pics of the 'inside' membranes. And the air gap on all of the celotex ie walls, floor and roof, is to the outside, so celtoex touches inside of walls etc ?

Yes, I spoke to Celotex and they said air gap to the outside, but I have a few where the electrics were 'forward' of the frame as such could not get the Celotex to the inner so they are toward the outer - no biggie I hope...

Smart Things home automation to automate external & internal lights, also some power sockets, so leaving the house preps the shed before I get there, also smoke alarm, motion and temperature sensors all via Smart Things.

Belkin Wemo Insight Switch on my heaters so I can a) remote control them, and b) know how much energy I am using, cost of and length of time on.

It's a slow process, but getting there...

Garden to repair next !!!!

Wow.

When you look up used carpet tiles on ebay, there is a whole world of horrors to be found

Very interesting, I run the Honeywell system for heating, my smart home system www.homeseer.com is a getting a bit dated.

Might see if it can link to Lutron.

This place is becoming a very high benchmark

Carpet tiles a great decision. Good value too.

When completed and populated it could be a candidate for shed of the year

A HUGE thanks to Chris, for helping me lug 17 machines up steps, along the large (uneven) garden, up yet more steps and then actually pushing me to finish setting all machines up.

I had planned to move a few and do the rest another day, but glad to say its job done, except for leveling each machine now and a space tidy up.

Cheers again Chris.
