Managed 15 mins of that doc on Netflix ( wasn't Amazon )
Wow truly horrible .

I have no idea who they are either, but to be fair the last four Stern themes have all been ones that would resonate with ‘younger’ ages. There is no point aiming at 18 year olds at the minute, as they are not the ones buying pinball machines for home.
……at these prices, there you go, fixed that for you ;)

I had to Google their songs as others have suggested. I'm sure Stern are confident of selling them but I wonder how much demand there will be over here?

Let's be fair, Neil is the main man for the new Sterns and if he's not getting one it probably says a lot.

Just not true that todays youth don't like retro rock. Many scope out older bands and are big fans of zep and Alice Cooper. The notion it has to be a stormzy pin to draw them in isn't so true. Let's face it those wouldn't even know what a pinball machine was.
I love creedence and wasn't around when they were.

True!
I'm 35 (since yesterday 🙃) and I've been into Rush since my teens. Not a massive fan but I love music and went through a progressive rock/metal stage where I sought out these bands and Rush is one of the big names.
I had a few friends over tonight for my birthday and 6 of them are Rush fans... I do know them from my time studying music so that's probably why. A lot of casual music listeners or those not into prog might are less likely to know who Rush are, unless Canadian or American I suppose.

Hasn't @Neil McRae said many times that theme doesn't matter? It's about shots and code? Afterall he loves IM but doesnt give a damn about the music

The drummer 'The Professor' was highly regarded in music circles.
Yeah Neil Peart (RIP) rated 4th in Rolling Stone top 100. I'm not a big drums fan but his (long) solo was standout when I saw them live.

I'm surprised that rock fans on here aren't familiar with them, they toured and filled the big UK venues multiple times.

Doesn't say too much to be honest if I had Neil's bank balance I would buy every stern as well regardless 🤣🤣🎸🎸🤣🤣

I’m just a year older and somewhat familiar with Rush for the same reasons, although can’t name a song other than Tom Sawyer off the top of my head anymore. Still a bit surprised by the theme choice, wouldn’t have guessed Stern would be doing a prog rock theme a year ago. What’s next, Dream Theater?

The Unholy Trinity were Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple - all circa 1968
UK was the birth of hard rock and metal (I know, but was still regarded as this)
Anything else was just kinda plastic naff…..
All the US and Canadians love Rush, maybe as they are regarded as North American retro rock. Def not in the same league as the big 3 though IMO.
What a contrast with this thread and the one on Pinside….lol

Damn, another band that used to be good that turned out to be a bit sh1te
Hawkwind - I guess when Lemmy left for Motörhead
Seen them play at Edinburgh playhouse, think it was their Utopia tour , I was wasted… 😂

Yup hence why when I play it next month at INDISC I might order one. All ye noobs that have joined since lockdown will realise that’s the normal way I buy games but with lockdown no chance to play so I just bought everything. But with space at home and at the club not available its a tough one because not obvious what I chop- esp with CCR also on the way. I hear from sources the playfield is going to surprise a few folks. Wait and see. This isn’t going to sell out like Godzilla.

I have an idea for space, I could accommodate a pin for you, problem solved,

Is it 1k LEs?
I’m not so sure, it’s going bat**** across the pond. There’s peeps who are sort of semi- fans with a few singles in their collection (probably Tom Sawyer) running out now…. buying the full discography to try and get into the groove to justify the upcoming purchase 😂
I think they will sell out. Not sure how the allocation works here, reckon 2-3 may sell UK.
Neil + perhaps Pick Holder maybe interested based on his Rush avatar.
Still, if it’s Borg, I’m sure it will be a great pin.
I reckon the Owl will be the main art.
Should look cool if they do it mirrored on the LE, sort of mosaic style.

Theme does matter 🤦‍♂️, well to some extent.
Neil, get that Boyzone pin fired up 😂
For some!

That's a whole another topic but for example I know a lot of people who don't care for the Marvel themed pins and think they come across to serious but love the games.
Theme is little bit more important for me and I'd struggle to want to own one.
I like turtles because I grew up watching it but in general I seem to prefer the B/W unique themes to licences.

Yes, but IMDN irritated Neil enough that he had to swap it out for ABBA - ergo he does give a damn.
So by definition, the theme matters to an extent?

See my previous reply, it depends. I changing music is different.
I think theme matters... A bit. But depends on the person.
