Alien Pinball Brothers Owners Club - MU-TH-UR!

I played the LV at the show. I do think the backbox on it is a let down though, screen is tiny.

Its just like the regular version.

One of the real plus points of the Heighway version I had was the screen that basically filled the back box.
Agreed but I know why they went with the reduced size its just down to keeping the BOM costs reasonable.

An LE for 10k those days are done. Can't wait for JJP to announce their Toy Story. What we thinking 15k for the CE? Funny part is it will sell out, even at that price.

Anyway I better shut up about prices Neil keeps a running tab on me :D

I'd love to play one of these one day but I don't think it's on location anywhere. It looks great - love the xenomorph. My only criticisms would be the loss of the screen on the playfield, I think that's the one thing I actually liked Full Throttle and the playfield art. I can't help but feel it's a missed opportunity for a movie with such awesome art from H. R. Giger and brilliant creature design to have what appears to be relatively muted playfield art. Imagine a Zombie-yeti-esque H.R Giger playfield on this pin, it would be beautiful and really elevate the game.

The one at my house will be going on location next week so I'll let you know where.

It will be on location at Retroids in Worcester but it's not there yet because it's still here.

I really liked the screen in the pf on the original. Made it so much easier to know whats going on and added immersion

yeah but the screen is one of the lowest costs of the BOM and has a big impact on the visuals of the game.

Good to see that finally got sorted mate 👍
From prototype to finished product its been a heck of journey.

i'm going to spend time putting back in the plastic protectors and mods I previously purchased.

Not rushing this want to get it in the best looking example. :D

Yay they listened to me! They made cut outs around the post in the middle and other areas to stop chipping/pooling.

All plastics back on. Have a few issues to resolve. APC drop targets aren't coming up need to check on why.

One pop bumper egg isn't lighting up, will check it tomorrow could just be a loose wire, knocked loose in transit.

Game looks great without Col's protectors, but ends up like looking stunning with them!

So glad I sent all my original SV plastics over 9 months ago!

is the difference in the game purely cosmetic? Or is there new gameplay?

These look awesome - trouble is with a Widebody you don't know if it'll play like a Wizard of Oz or a Twilight Zone. Would love to play one some time but I think the one on location is a little too far. Pinfest maybe?
Those who've got theirs - is it more of a slow Widebody? Or relatively fast?

Its no Steve Richie flow monster but it has some punishing speed in some returns to the flippers. My wife finds the game too hard but I can actually progress with it.

I can't comment on WoZ VS. TZ as I've barely played a TZ and WoZ I played once and thought MEH.

I liked the game enough to buy it all over again, suppose that says something?

No difference in game play. The LV is basically all the missing pieces bar the LCD in the middle from the heighway version.
It comes with the usual improvements they made to the Heighway design such as the additional magnet at the top to stage a shot to the hypersleep etc.

LV comes with:

  • Shaker Motor
  • Topper Beacons
  • Side Art blades which are recessed and light up
  • Light up RGB targets
  • Powder Coat
  • New translite art (much better than the original IMO)
  • New Cabinet art

Things I've noticed over my old prototype:

  • Changed the thumb scews at the front to a different style
  • Changed the playfield artwork by adding cut outs in area's where posts are situated
  • Improved the cable routing from the backbox into the cab
  • New target designs to reduce ball bounce (angled downwards) and reinforced no doubt to improve the longevity of the targets
  • New attract art, there may be more artwork added but I haven't had time to play with it yet
  • Added bevelled edges to the artwork to stop it catching/peeling when the lock bar or the corners get bumped by people etc.
