New UK pinball event - Daventry August 25th & 26th 2018

I’m very new to this community but I must congratulate everyone who was involved in both the organising and execution. I was there Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday. As someone else has pointed out without your efforts and the owners lending their machines I would never get the chance to play on so many machines for the first time. I bought my first machine new from Phil a few months back. My problem now is after the event I have set my mind on finding a Junkyard and Medieval Madness to add to my collection! If this event happens again next year I will get my act together early and make sure I book a room for the fri/sat as I would so of liked to stay later and enjoy a few beers but had to drive to another hotel a few miles away.
Cheers guys - pinball already had me hooked but now I am a bit obsessed and even my mrs had a great time and found a few machines she enjoyed ( which makes it easier for me to buy more machines!!)

Thanks kev - think my purpose this weekend was to kill the Murphys . First by turning big Phil to stone and second by letting his daughter Rebecca fall onto her bum . Be afraid when I am around [emoji3]

Just a reminder, the competition to win a £50 voucher to spend at Pinball Heaven is open until end of next month

In case you didnt pick up a leaflet at the event - Simply email your existing homeowners insurance renewal date along with your contact details to competition@mancaveinsurance.co.uk

Maybe this sounds like a shill, but I know a few people that took out their pinsurance via Ian, and all were really pleased with the friendly expertise and the resulting quote.

Personally I don't think I need specialist insurance for my feeble pin 'collection', but if I had a larger collection it's something I would definitely be in touch about.

Some stats from @replicas upgraded Indy Machine on my stand during the weekend

Total Raw Games Started

Friday - 87
Saturday - 164
Sunday - 172

Total - 424

Total Games Started

Friday - 38
Saturday - 119
Sunday - 78

Total - 235

Overall games to players playing ratio is 1.8. Also interesting the ratio for multiplayer games is much higher on friday and sunday then on saturday! Read into that what you will :)

I am missing a set of silver b/w legs from bride of pinbot. They were left under Sacred stiff (by the big back door) after Stan put the machine in his boot. If any of the team that kindly packed up my machines whilst i was playing in the league finals know where they went, please let me know

My TOTAN had 326 games over the full weekend until it went technical on sunday afternoon. Luckily that was just a dodgy switch @Big Phil in the saucer cup not registering the ball. A quick fix.

Cheers

Thanks to everyone who organised, maintained and donated machines

What a great weekend, Josh and I really enjoyed ourselves and he has definitely improved a huge amount of the weekend (annoyingly far more than I did). Loved the custom Indy from @myPinballs though Josh figured it out in no time and even got to some secret mode on it!

Competition went far better than expected (if a bit chaotic), Josh managed 5-5 in a really tough group and I should have done better than 4-6, having managed to tilt away a game winning bonus on ball 3 on two occasions because I thought I was a lot further behind :(

We now have a list of machines to add to the collection: Monster Bash, Scared Stiff, GoT, LoTR and Iron Maiden have joined Walking Dead (and maybe Deadpool when I find one) on the 'could play this for hours' list.

First time poster - play a lot of virtual pinball but not much on real machines. I was at the PlayExpo in London earlier in the month which I found too busy and hardly got to any of the machines I wanted to, plus the volume was such I couldn't hear the machines. Through the expo I discovered PinFest. Was too late to get a room in the hotel or enter the competition but got a day ticket for the Saturday.
What a brilliant day - the noise as I entered the room was immense. A huge number of machines and hardly and queues. Good mix of older machines and new, I got to play so many tables I'd always wanted to play.
A huge thanks to the organisers for making the weekend run so smoothly and those providing the pins. The venue was relaxed and facilities excellent - nice they were serving food all day too.

Due to the weather on Sunday my original plans were scrapped and I ended up staying for the Sat night session and the Sunday session - booking into a hotel about 20 mins away. Initially on the Saturday I was disappointed I couldn't play many of the competition tables but thankfully these were available for the Sat night VIP session (which could be purchased on the day for £10).

Well done to all those involved. Looking forward to next years.

I was surprised how quiet the Saturday evening session was. If you were there, I bet you felt like a kid in a sweet shop :)

I was glad of the sat evening session not been too rammed having been stuck on my stand for 7/8 hours. I got to play the new and custom stuff with ease and share a few games with other pinheads. For me, I normally leave at 6pm but I stuck around after a break to get food at the local pub from 9 til 10.30 ?

Yes the Sat session was super quiet and very chilled. I figured I'd be bored of pinball after a full day on the Sat! :) I was sad to leave on the Sunday afternoon.

All I can tell ya when I took Rocky down there were a set of 4 on floor next to it at that moment in time

The legs matt me n daz were trying to wirk out what they were for they were still at venue when we left,on the floor to right of door that took you in to corridor where comp was, maybe peter has them he was yet to load up then?

Reading so many positive comments about it, i am gutted i missed out in the end. When is the next one?

He may have a bad reputation, but one person who did something without even questioning it and for which he hasn't been thanked was Andrew Heighway. @Big Phil was provided with some information and also provided contact information for the Peter Davies the electrician.

Furthermore I would like to thank Sean from pinball palace for putting on the Margate shows and starting the "big" shows in the UK as well as Nick Bennett for continuing it into the UK Pinball show.

Finally, I would also like to thank @Big Phil and the whole team of helpers and pin loaners for putting on this new event, I'll be able to make the full week-end next year.

Not sure he needs brought into this and thanked tbh. A couple of favours doesn't erase what he's done to certain people.

Yes he does, he stepped up. He's a bad businessman, I'm not sure you needed to bring that up either?

How he treated his designer goes far beyond being a 'bad businessman' but alright.

Impossible there could be two sides to a story? I have no idea of the whole scenario, but I wouldn't believe everything one person says whether it be Andrew or Dave.
