New UK pinball event - Daventry August 25th & 26th 2018

I'll be in a nerg staff shirt,(hopefully) fixing stuff, prob wearing a yellow hat, sweating my ass off stuck in a machine, drinking beer in the evening - tho as a fair few will be similar - look for the hat:)

Was that the last one ? At least we made money for charity - not as good as my old shut up poibug voucher - one of the old crew may remember that one too :)
 
Due to unforseen circumstances, the UK Pinball Open competition will NOT be held at UKPinest in Daventry on 24th & 25th August.

I'm working with others to arrange another competition and an announcement will be made in the next 24 hours.

With only 2 weeks to go, this has been a really difficult decision to make. I'm frantically working with others to get another competition arranged.
 
Was this the paid for event or the best of the best competition?

It was the U.K. Open. - the paid for competition but I’m not worried I know the effort Phil puts in and I’m sure that what ever happens there will be a **** hot tourney announced.

Ahh right, so this is both sections the classics and the open? The £40 one?

Agree @Big Phil - do whatever you need to do, I don't know the ins and outs, but for putting this on you have my support
 
I don't want any nastiness. There's reasons why things are done the way they're done. I'm sure 100% effort goes into running the UK Pinball Open but we just couldn't agree on things.

There'll be another announcement in the next 24 hours about what will probably be The British Pinball Open.....or something. UKPinfest Open....I dunno. Any suggestions?
 
UK Pinfest Open and Classics does what it says on the tin?

I am a little worried that for future events the hotel in Daventry may tell us to do one.

I assumed this meant the tourney won't run but the event will???
 
Errr... @alchy - unless I am confused, the free play is still there (100+ machines) and another competition is being arranged.

Nothing to see here I don't think, other than the linking of a certain competition that won't be going ahead. Another competition will run in it's place by the sounds of it.

Don't know where you have seen its a competition only event. the canceled competition was separate to the UKpinfest show. that will have about 100 machines for the public to play free and to socialise, with another lot of pins for the comps.
S no real need to be canceling as nothing has changed for your friends.
 
Fook me talk about muddying the waters he said the open wasn't taking place not whole shebang.
 
May I ask, what did the incumbent tourney team bring to the party? As I understand it machines, venue and techs were supplied by @Big Phil and UK Pinfest, but I don't know... so someone please feel free to enlighten me
 
Fair enough @Neil McRae - @Big Phil - if I can do anything please let me know, I am there all weekend and happy to support anyway I can even in an admin role. I will literally sit and sign people in if needed, go around and check scores, remove stuck balls, etc. etc.

Only joking, great lineup couldn't ask for more.

Great luck with the show to everyone involved. Phil and his team of organisers, all pin donors big and small.

Just a shame I can't get down for it, hope everyone has a great time and hope to see you all sometime at a future show.
