Garden pinball house?

I run a specialist underwriting agency, drop me a pm and we can do you a bespoke policy. We developed a pinball / arcade collectors extension, which also covers pinball outside the home going to shows for Paul on here :)

Last year Direct Line covered up to £10k for garage and outbuildings for theft then they put it down to £5k this year. Now with Privilege Platinum and value is £7.5k for theft. Total contents value is £100k which covers anything in either the house or garage for damage/flood/fire etc. Other than that you'll need a specialist policy.
BTW - on the Privilege policy pins aren't classed as valuable items so no need to disclose individually unless you want to specify a particular value (see @mufcmufc above) which costs extra. Think the individual item limit in Privilege is £3k.

Can you do a separate policy just for the outbuildings?

My main house insurance is currently very good value and they actually covered the full amount that I wanted without having to have a monitoring alarm, so reluctant to change that, but like most policies, I am limited to the total amount of cover on an outbuilding (which is less than the value of 13 pins)

Theft is not a problem (as you can't get them out without taking the heads off) but would like to be covered against total loss / disaster

Isn't the 90k total with a singular limit though John, pretty sure you need to specify each item over £1.5k with most insurers which costs extra AND you can only have 15k total specified items. I've gone a different route and insured my pins for fire and flood only at the moment although insurance is due next week so re-checking this in next few days.

The only inner article limit I noted was items over £2K 'if' you took them away from home (i.e. valuables). Would still need to check though to be certain, thanks for reminding me.

Thinking about it, I have broker contacts and may put it in their hands to shop around (it's what they get commission for). My own insurer/employer is the worst of the lot at £2.5K limit currently.

Sorry, I missed this earlier. Will send PM in the morning, thanks.

Thanks Dean. Bit hard on the pocket but hopefully get good use out of it, particularly in the summer.

Northern League meet here in July for anyone fancying the trip up, plus mini-gathering in next few weeks hopefully when we've sorted machine issues. :)

Here you go Moose, a few locals during the setup and the finished lineup with my crappy digi camera:

Big thanks to @ianw for arranging full insurance for pins in outbuilding up to £60,000 (including up to two pins at shows) with main house insurance. Speedy process and very reasonable extra cost to what Tesco was quoting with a £5K limit for theft ! Cheers Ian.

Guys, can help on smallers collections too :) and even those without. Household isn't our core, but very happy to help.

It IS pretty damn awesome, yeah :)

Amazingly well soundproofed too - 14 machines or so pinging off inside and you can hardly hear a thing outside. Can't see any reason for complaint from even the pickiest neighbours.

It looks awesome. Is there any rationale to the order the machines are lined up? I'm wired up weird and would spend ages deciding on that.

Cheers lads. Heh yeah I'm a bit OCD on that kid of thing too. Would have been a complete Bally Williams lineup on the back wall but there's a supporting pillar in the middle pushing two pins out an inch or two further, so put the Gott Sys 80's in there which are shorter and so line up better.

Tron is to the back wall (furthest away from neighbours) as the loudest but as Roger said, soundproofing has worked much better than expected. 100mm concrete block and render, 65mm cavity batts, 12.5mm soundshield plasterboard then plaster.

Be honest John, how many times have you hoovered in there since we finished on Sunday? :)

Just seen the thread. I'm going to ring Tesco in the morning.
I specifically said pins were in a cabin at the end of the garden and the most expensive one was £12K. I asked them to check with underwriters.

We went to look at a local timber outbuilding supplier and the question came up about how heigh I can need for pins. The location we have chosen for the outbuilding is next to the boundary with the neighbour. If I go 2m from the boundary I will lose more garden than I wanted to. Is a 2.5m eave height going to restrict me on pin without toppers?
anyone built a 2.5m cabin and got a Wh2O and TAF with toppers in it and can take a picture?

My plan is to have a long line up on the back wall so only the ends will be low.

The alternative is I offer to buy 1 metre off the neighbour as that bit of his garden is inaccessible from his house.

The issue is that our house is built on a hill and the main usable garden is the side of our property, very little other space is flat. My initial plan was to build a tree house in the front garden (also known "the jungle") with a walk way from the ground floor of the house but apparently this would require planning permission. ;)
