Complete Another Addams Restoration

PM me to remind me and I'll send you his WhatsApp.

As long as you're in no major rush Holly should be able to do a commission.

She's currently busy with the playfield and plastics on LoTR as well as some Addams stuff for Ant.

I am in no hurry with my retheme pin, It could be a year down the line when I am asking for artwork.

Finished up the back leg protectors.

Moved onto putting in the posts into the playfield.

Once again I find none of the holes are drilled out to any decent size, they are literally all over the shop.

Had to re-drill practically (like 95%) of the holes. Took all evening but now all posts are complete.

Harness is ready for transport but I'll wait until the VUKs are repaired to proceed.

Forgive me for asking but I'm confused!! You are using a brand new playfield but am I right in thinking none of the metal work going back on to it has been polished to within an inch of its life here ??? same with all the mechs are they not getting fully stripped down polished and all the perishable bits replaced ?

Not sure how you can be confused TBH?

If you look at the new playfield the parts placed back on it were cleaned. Do you think a 30 year old pin had polished flipper plates?

More progress today on the cabinet:

Sorry but I was thinking all the metal posts and other mechs being fully stripped apart and all the parts tumble polished etc

Most parts are but i'm not about to strip down that greed table to bare bones. It was enough work just to replace the table. Each post was tumbled but it likely doesn't show well as i'm taking pictures upside down.

I used the old rubbers on posts as while I was putting them back in the grime on my fingers was lifting back onto the bolts so I used the old rubbers as 'gloves' to put them back on.

I'll replace them with the proper rubbers when I flip it back over.

I'm using new screws as old ones even after tumbling cause me grief. Had heads snap in the past and then have the joy of trying to fish them out of the wood.

I should also point out that all targets are being replaced but old ones are being kept on while I transport everything over.

Right now I'm just waiting on the VUKs to come back.

Here's the state they were in when I sent them off to @Ant-H for welding.

He asked for a finish, I asked for a basic finish. So he went all out and did a great looking grey primer on it. :D

The other VUKs are in a simular state. Will update when they are finished.

great job as always

The metal yokes are all completely trashed.

Only one survived, the rest had snapped.

Replaced all sleeves, yokes (fabric and metal)

I think what newdos is saying your metal should look like this on a full restoration

I think what many people probably don't realise is that this is just a hobby for me. It's not my job.

Zinc plating mechs for my pins at least is just burning money.

If it looks clean and plays well. That's what matters to me

For me I put my focus on what people can see when they play. Not what they can't.

Prints are being painted.

Once again Royal mail delivery is late... sigh.

Lots of stuff should have arrived today which didn't.

PXL_20221004_141019669.jpg

I actually don't plan on using any original plastics here but cleaned them as someone might want my old original plastics. The posts I'll keep as having spare clears will be handy.

Have you tried mothers metal polish and OOOO wire wool to polish the metal work ?
Love the bookcase too!
At the moment i just use Autosol and a tumbler and for the larger pieces that won't fit just a cloth and autosol.

I need a polishing wheel to be honest to get rid of those heavy ball marks in the guides. I just forked out on a brand new orbital sander and more pinball parts so i'm out of cash for this month.

It will look good when its done. Just not aiming for a super mint on this one.

I'm happy enough with a finish that still impresses. I can always tart up the mechs later.

Also thanks regarding the book case. Got it printed in resin, came out great. Then Holly painted it dead quick for me.

Reactions: JT.
I'm literally out of stuff to do so I've been focusing on more parts to clean top side.

Hopefully Royal Mail actually deliver all my stuff tomorrow.

Looking good, personally you can go OCD overboard with stuff, I know I did with the LOTR. I've stopped myself doing any more!

I found a drimmel works great for tough ball marks got mine off with it.

I can dig out what paste and end to use if you want, took a little experimenting

Yh plz, I have a Dremel... somewhere lol

Royal mail are bloody useless... Still waiting on stuff.

As a result I focused my efforts on preparing the plastics.

Many thanks again @russdx1 for the err long term loan of your rivet press 😅 it's getting a lot of use at least!

P.s. I hate doing rivets
