So after some shrewd investigation by my wife, she unearthed a trade opportunity for the Addams Family at Pinfest

We had only just bagged the Deadpool the week before but I never thought we'd get a chance of bagging an Addams.

The rest they say is history.

It's been barely up on its legs and I've already put together a large part list for the machine.

This is going to cost me a fair bit but by the end I should have another restored Bally) Williams era machines in my collection.

Repair list:

- New playfield (already supplied)
- New Cab decals
- New main ramp
- Flipper rebuild on all flippers
- Full rubber replacement
- Replace library disk
- in line fuses for magnets
- Replace pop caps, skirts and bodies
- Repair cab and back box
- New targets
- New plastics
- New balls
- Add Pinsound
- Replace speakers
- New legs
- New side rails
- new lock bar

Plus a whole lot more. Stay tuned.

Just to get a game going I replaced the left flipper mech and bat. The old one was beyond knackered with the linkage fragmenting into the cab.PXL_20220830_191724527.jpg

It played quite well... Didnt realise the PF was that shot though... Probably why the GI looked like it was out (VERY dark).

Saying that, i do love a good Addams :)

So - you dont the PF swap?

Did Deapool go???????
I imagine you mean doing the playfield swap. The answer to that is a yes!

This one looks far easier than Scared Stiff to do.

Deadpool is being collected next week.

Dont you believe it... took me a couple of months (bearing in mind it was only the second i did, and things needed replating etc). Very satisfying when all done though... :)

I did adjust my awful wording. Just amazed you got one, fair play.

Addams has a few tricky bits on it. I would say it is a little harder than Scared Stiff to work on (do a PF swap).

Dont forget the inline fuses to the three magnets bud. I always stick them on. I just put 3 fuse holders under the PF.

Wow, so impressed with you and your wife’s appetite and aptitude to restore 90s machines. That Dracula was just incredible and was CFTBL also yours at PinFest?

I think you mentioned you were already doing another Drac restoration for someone else. Imagine it varies depending on what’s involved but what’s the general charge to your customers for a restoration for Williams/Bally 90s machines. Appreciate that might be a very broad spectrum depending on the machine and the condition it comes to you in.

How many pins do you and the wife have by the way? I know you have bought a large amount in a short space of time but do these tend to get worked on by the pair of you and then sold/traded on for others?

Just again, fair play and major kudos for the skill and dedication you both have for giving these machines the love and care they deserve.

Hey mate. You'd be surprised by how many people thought that was my CFTBL but mine has the Holomodsp which ties into the game code. The one at the show had just the original mikeD LCD mod. Not as advanced. I kind of went nuts on mine and spent as much on mods and replacement hardware as I did buying it. Maybe I'll bring it to Pinfest next year.

Was speaking to Ant about my restorations versus his. I tend to get mine done in 1-2 months while Ant projects 6 - 9. We're on different spectrums of restoration.

I do my work in large concentrated hours/days working some 12-14 hour days as I want things done asap.

Ant is more methodical and meticulous in his approach. Very much a tortoise versus the Hare tale as Ant puts it.

For me I only spent that long (9 months) on my Drac because I had to. The geographical and time zone differences forced a slower approach.

I'm not hindered this time by a custom playfield and the logistics of retrieving from Australia to complete it.

My aim is to complete both this new Drac and Addams by the middle of October.

I'm fairly confident I can do this.

Pin wise we're at 8 until Deadpool goes next week. We have room for 9. Which is just as well as I'm going to need the space to be working on two pins at once.

As for selling them on. I was at one point switching them out constantly but I'm trying to grow the collection now.

I'm seriously happy to be working on what I call a grail pin. It will also have some custom stuff from the wife going onto the metal work and some custom mods.

She loves gothic.

I did smile when I saw you get Deadpool. Knowing GnR also did not last - I know you have the refurbing/mod bug now.
Must admit (being an awful player) - I prefer working on pins.
Next week I have 2 Playfield swaps to do.

Yeah I’d definitely agree with that. I know you like to set a target and then go at it full pace. You did some crazy hours when working on your SS, which I tip my hat to.

I just couldn’t do it. I think it would kill the enjoyment for me. This is the part of the hobby I enjoy the most.
The whole process of a restoration from start to finish, taking something that’s had a hard life and improving it to the best of my ability. Weather that be sanding filler down or trying to come up with new ideas or mods etc.
But most importantly it’s a way I like to unwind and de-stress after a day at work. Simply go down to the workshop, stick on the radio and potter about on a project pin.

Getting both done by mid October will be your biggest challenge to date, but I know you Scott, I’m sure you’ve planned some
crazy hours and all-nighters lined up to hit that target 😂👍🏻

get a 40 grit on that lockdown bar. sand gazzer off then follow up with 60,80,120,180,240,320,400,600,800,1000,1500,2000,3000,5000, then a good hand job
Yup did the same with BSD side rails. Had someone else's name on them. 😁

Flipper mech rebuilds done on the main flippers.

Once all parts arrive I'll begin disassembly of the playfield and begin the journey of the playfield swap.

What do we think boys? Coil stops worn enough?

Glass nib thing missing, not a problem.

I'm likely going to repowder the apron and get new decals.

More cleaning, also started replacing the stand up targets.

Figured I may as well clean and update the parts where I can prior to the swap.
