I dunno about you guys but I feel a bit bad now that we've been making fun of such a well respected and connected person in the industry. I mean, not that I've heard of any of those things, but they certainly sound legit.
Ordinarily I'd say IP addresses aren't a sign of much, if you're out and about for example on your phone you'll be sharing an endpoint IP with many people. That said home broadband connections will keep the same IP for as long as they remain connected, which can be weeks or months, and if you're a bit simple and sign in and out of different accounts during that time then it'll be easy to associate all of the accounts, like @Paul has.
And feel free to use a proxy.... as they are also rejected on moderation...
