Watches

I did toy with joining the dots on Chrono24.
Find who the buyer is, easy enough then make contact, negotiate a price then drive to view and collect.
They save money as they don’t have to pay Chrono.

^^^^ Nice watch 👍 I’m hopeful waiting will be shorter this year.
It was like having an interview at Gleneagles.
Usually a good sign when they pass you a thick Rolex brochure.
I talked them through my buying history...which they don’t keep records over a certain period.
Mrs was wearing her Oyster and I was wearing a tag …lol
I’ve sold my Rolex watches as needed the cash for something… but told them I still own 🤥
Now I’m without a Rolex, I sure do miss having one.
If it was just for me, I would go Grey market but I wanted the Mrs to experience the whole AD buying experience at a good venue.
So, I
Yeah its a funny process.

I sold my Hulk in 2021 to fund a house purchase had it since new and I only payed £4910 and sold it for £17500.

Going to York this week so will pop in and see what they say its annoying as I don't want to flip it.

Really love the Sprite GMT but pointless even asking to go on a waiting list for that one.

Daytona John Mayer - RRP 32.5k
Think it’s now discontinued..
That will shoot to 150k
That’s a nice flip for someone ..lol

Selling a watch to fund a house purchase tells you everything you need to know about the eye watering prices of some watches.

I thought I'd gone a bit mental buying a Speedmaster last year but that's nothing on you guys. I ended up selling it as much cheaper watches bring me just as much joy with a lot less stress.

I sold my ones to help sort my disabled mum with furnishing her house / move.
Got attached to them, sorry to let them go.
Needs must

Most are still high from what I see, I've been on the list for a rolex oyster model for 18 months and still no show
May be worth checking in now and again..even over the phone.
I got the Mrs to call few days ago just to add her email to my one for contact and have a wee chat with the sales executive we were dealing with.
Can do this without feeling you are hounding them.

I can’t see lower model Rolex dropping to much more I bought a nice 39mm explorer last year and I’m happy with it even if the price drops a little I’ll survive

i was at a used shop this week with my 1967 seamaster and a first edition breitling emergency for cost checking . i have been checking out air king and gmt. £7k and £10k new and £8k and £15k for used 1 year old

4 year wait list for new atm

Yup. The originals ran on mains power. The current ones use 2x 1.5v batteries.

The clock is a standard quartz movement so should be reasonably accurate.

The pendulum is for effect only. It has a fixed magnet in the tail that is opposed by an electromagnetic coil powered by the batteries. This creates the swing.

The tail swings about 58 times a minute so is convincing enough

I like a nice Breitling, but have been told from the AD that I should be getting a call this year on a Rolex.
I have been buying a Breitling every Christmas.
This is the Ford Mustand limited edition.
It might even go up on value as long sold out.

That is not sold out yet mate, as I have been looking at it. It’s a lovely watch.
They have just released a version with a different movement at £6250.
I'm not sure, I know it took 3 months for them to find me one, I even drove to Manchester as was showing in stock for them to say they have the other car ones in stock and not the Mustand.
I almost went for the Cobra as was so disappointed in the wasted trip.
I'm going to sell this at £4500, it's unworn, never tried on, never even been wound, still has all the clear stickers on and a extra black strap which was £160

The new GMT master is stunning on a TT Jubilee bracelet.
Grey Market prices crazy on this model.
Got a call from my AD Friday to collect the wife’s watch next week. Took 6 months…. Still waiting on my one but at least I know we are being considered.

Anyone know much about the value of a Tag Heuer mid size 2000 series? Probably about 20 years old- need’s serviced as I changed the battery and it still wasn’t keeping time accurately. Reasonable cosmetic condition. Thanks Peter

I would check out Chrono24 first

so a mid 2000 quartz tag h? Can't imagine a lot.

Used to be my everyday watch until about 5 years ago when I started wearing an I watch- think I paid £450 back in the day- Chrono24 says £300 ish fully working. Thanks @Drew.m . Might get it fixed up and keep- not really worth selling

My brother in law looked into getting his fixed up think it was £600? More than the watch was worth?

Good morning I’m thinking of purchasing an Omega Speedmaster moon watch anyone got one there thinking of moving on? Any comments or help appreciated
Thanks Tony

Lovely watch, if a little too large for my skinny wrists. I owned one for 6 months but I realised owning an expensive watch just wasn't for me, they are a status symbol for the most part, they all tell the same time.

I own very inexpensive watches that I enjoy just as much.

Mine was new and I bought and sold it via eBay. They have an authenticy guarantee so the watch is sent to an independent verification centre by the seller to check it is genuine and as described before they forward it on to the buyer, all for free.

I didn't lose any money on it so it was nice to own for a short period but I'd rather use the money for other things.

If you want the moon watch variant then the only real thing is hesalite or sapphire? Whilst hesalite (perspex) is more authentic, can you live with your expensive watch being scratched? If not then look for deals on chrono24.com on the sapphire sandwich variant.

Thanks guys been on chrono 24 anyone bought there? Seems to be a variety of private & dealers, have chrono 24 verified the watches? How do I know I’m not buying a fake? Some offer a guarantee some don’t? What about papers box etc? Seems to make a difference in price? I suppose it’s worth “this” with everything and less without? Probably just depends what each individual is happy with I suppose
Thanks Tony
