Today I worked on......

What was wrong with it??
DMD just totally died one night, spent months trying to diagnose the problem... gave up trying to fix the issue in the end after replacing and rebuilding everything relevant to the problem I could think of, replaced the DMD driver board and it came back to life, it's not perfect but it's working and I'm totally over it now 😂

Very busy couple of days putting my TZ back together, stripped and clean/wax the playfield.

Replaced rubbers (@pinballmania thanks for the rubber kit and leg protectors). Not an easy job on a TZ is it? Mini playfield is a fiddle.

Installed the mirror blades (thanks @CHRIS B PINBALLS - they’re ace).

This completes so many tweaks - rebuilt the cab, Re decal on the outside, jazzy paint job on the inside. Copied @stumblor cable wrap idea for the cab wiring.

Upgrade speakers (thanks @new forest pinball made a custom speaker panel to take the new speakers - couldn't have done that without help from @Colywobbles (if theres ever an award for the forum's most helpful member - Col has got to be up there!).

Powder coat and chrome galore (including bolt caps to match).

Looking forward to in interactive display and maybe a LCD colour display to top of this bobby dazzler.

A few quick pics from the dingy workspace... just to prove it happened :)

Spent a happy afternoon chasing switch matrix oddness on my BSD - Switch 56 opto for the crypt popper kept firing randomly. Checked the usual, opto working and clean, reflowed solder etc etc. Still didn't fix it so tested all the switches with a ball and noticed that it only fired when other switches in the same row were hit. Turned out to be an open diode on the middle top rollover lane.

Really satisfying when you find the cause and fix it !

This Iron Maiden needed a whole lot of love, it had a once over clean when I got it, but it was just playing dire and a few niggly bits getting to me. Remember this has had one clean over, but when a game comes in needing some love, I generally find it takes two cleans to start getting it to come up clean.

So today it has had:

- A deep clean and wax
- Posts tightened, honestly; so many loose posts.
- New rubber kit (70% - I was 2 hours into this and have to remove 3 x plastics for the remaining 4 rubbers. More on that in a moment).
- Added @Colywobbles plastic protectors.
- Sorted 3 x bulb holders that were fooked.
- Cleaned up flipper bats - if you want to know how your game gets so dirty, look at how rubber perishes onto the bats, then imagine that being travelled all over the games.

Still to do:

- Replace those remaining rubbers under further plastics, one is behind the drops which will allow me to fit my spitfire mod.
- Sort fooked GI light under plastic.
- Fit blinder mod for pharaoh.

TZ + Chrome is lovely, was this re-chromed or done from scratch?
Was it expensive to do the chrome finish?

Thanks - it was a tatty original (black). Had it polished and chromed, along with the lock down bar, side rails and back box hinges (and hinge bushings, cab and coin door bolts).

Cheaper than buying a new door - but not by much. Ticked two boxes for me -
1 got more life out of an original door
2 I like how it looks

put a nvram.weebly board in my Nine ball at the club with the new Nine Ball software that fixed the drop target bug. Game plays solid all day and now counts the spins on the spinners! :D awesome!

Nine Ball is the best 80's SS game by a mile.
