TILT!Audio 1.25 with "red board" is out

Just tested with other pi its the same the sound sound electric_touch_6.ogg is just chirping away when it feels like it

Ok that DAC soldering looks ok.
You need to check that solder joint on pin3 U2.
Then we need to look at why the DAC is not showing.
Can you revisit the GUI setting for selecting the DAC

Yes, sorry forgot to mention GUi all ok, sound tests etc. Hifi DAC direct & Hifi DAC with conversion both showing , not tried plugging into the DAC because of lack of space between Tilt Audio & the DMD card.

Maybe just resolder every pin on U2.
Theres a few that look like they could do with some.

Audio should be coming out of the amps if alls oK.
Are you not using the amps?

Still have the mono speaker setup which I was told does not work so I assumed no point in looking at the amps etc.

I will rework the chips again, just worried about the heat, I agree low on solder on pin 3

Use the connectors up top.
They have seperate left right and center outputs and work ok.

Take a picture of the Audio selection on the DAC setting of the GUI.
Want to have a look at the selection. Especially at the end of the list.

I re-soldered u2 jut on that side now I get 2 random sound effects the electric_touch_6.ogg + a gun sound.

Just solder all your ics again.
Looks like you have bad solder joints.

Take out the Pi and solder the connector again also.

If you have a large solder tip change it to a small one.
Then you can hold the tip on the pins a bit longer.

Will the last setting work through the onboard 3.5mm jack though ?

Also I take it Pinsound community unscrambled soundsets should just work no mods to ini etc ?

The DAC 3.5mm will work. You'll get a better sound.
The amps will also work on the top connector.

Unscrambled Pinsound yes.
Some scrambled Pinsound can work but I found those had problems.

I dont have one now. Sold it when I sold the T2.

Choosing the berry audio setting seems to reboot the pi, lose the wifi then will not bring the gui back up until you reboot the pinball setting then its back at 3.5mm. I have 2 - 3 random sound effects now so I will start I think by re-soldering the ICs.

Thx for your help @Vimtoman

It has to reboot to set the berry DAC. The OS has to restart to set it.
Check to see if its set if not keep on trying to set it. You should not be using the Pi 3.5mm jack.
Not sure why your not using the amp and speakers. It sounds pretty good, especially if you upgrade the speakers and woofer.
That is the DAC you should be using.

I have the speakers to put in I was just waiting to get it working :D

Changed the cx374 today no change same fault, I will attempt the other 2 ics on the weekend, I lifted a couple of pads so I had to run cables. I would buy a new board but im getting reluctant to spend any more time on it @steve45 does not seem to be interacting at the moment. Im just curious if anyone else has the "f" revision board working ? Also I asked @steve45 but got no reply is there versions of the ICs in standard package as in not surface mount ?

I would keep the other IC's on if your lifting tracks when removing.
Your only going to mess the PCB up.

When you test each track on the sound test does it play ok?
If so then I would then try contacting Steve45 again and send him a log.
It could just be a sound file error.
Spend your time setting up the berry DAC and speakers.

Yes the sounds test ok through the GUI its just when you start a game the music starts at random but other sounds are in the correct place, others are missing. I have 5 soundsets all do the same thing. I really do believe its a hardware fault as reworking the ics the first time got better results, I cant believe I am that crap at soldering bin doing it for years, also using an inspection lamp all looks good. I am going to get a meter on the board to check continuity on the through holes, Someone else on pinside is having the same problem the same sound interrupting over and over.
@steve45 has not answered a pm since 27th Aug :(

Well looking at the pictures at your soldering it could be better.

Try him on Pinside ,
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rebuilding-sound-for-de-jurassic-park-using-a-pi

If your removing IC's etc your better cutting it off and then desolder the legs.
You need a special pair of cutters to do it or can do it carefully using a scapel.
Just be careful of cutting tracks underneath.

Scrambled files do give that same fault.
I had it with my T2 on one set of files.

I would also disable the mini display on the GUI as that also gave me issues.

Steve would be able to tell you what the issue is from the log if its software .

Ok I have attached a log again but I have had no comments made on the last 2 uploaded. The random sounds are now electric_touch_3 & tire_sound as seen in the log, mini display now off. The wifi takes about 3mins to appear also after reboot.

Have you updated to the newest firmware?
Have you checked the ribbon cable pin to pin?
Have you set the soundcard to the berry one?

Are those same dodge sounds being played on all 5 sets?
Have you compared each soundset folder contents wise?

PM the person on Pinside and ask if it's been resolved.
They may have

Steve45 could be on holiday.
He's usually good getting back in touch.

Yes 1.28
Old Sound Card works fine
No get no sound still using internal pi sound, I can setup some new speakers as I will be buying a Pinsound if I cannot get this working.

Yes same sounds although before rework and new 374 chip electric_touch_6
Yes they are the same (Does it need the pinsound config file ??), all sounds apart from 1 downloaded from steve45

I have PM the person waiting for response but on the thread there was no resolve they tried it in 2 pinball's with multiple sounds sets.(they are also using an "f" board)

I hope @steve45 is on holiday, I am trying to be patient with this before I bin it my partner bought it as a birthday pressy.

The ini file you can get info on the pinside thread.
Just make one as they have shown and dump it in the folder it shows on the log.
It sets certain settings per audio set so can be helpful when sets are at different levels.

The berry DAC should work .
Just try the setting on the GUI and let it reboot.
Check it and if it's still not set do it again.
It can be a bit awkward at times but I found that it just needs time to set.
It's easy just thinking that the speed of setting is instant on this device but it's not.

the sound quality on the DAC is pretty good and worth setting up.
