I just find it odd. Who are buying these machines?! It's obviously on its a**e

*Ahem* Drunk People *Cough*

That's my biggest fear.

Good luck?

There’s not a huge amount on the market at the moment, which could explain it.
Maybe people fancy a challenge, maybe some underestimate the work involved, but just as crucially I think a lot of people just don’t zoom in on pics on eBay.

To pay top dollar for a rotted, corrosion infested secondary title with modest resale prospects, you are probably looking at a first timer.

Broken firepower on Facebook atm , a snip at a mear 3k
Sounds like the one being discussed here:

Sick of looking at all the stupid prices on the bay, the world has gone bonkers mad, really hacks me off, its like the arcade cabs, i see lots of items that i would class as reasonable across the pond, but here, no, stratospheric prices, very depressing, is this just me?

Agree I see lots of reasonably priced pins across the pond in comparison to some crazy prices over here.

It’s supply and demand. Many more machines over in the USA. I don’t think they’re that much cheaper, esp once you’ve added in the cost of usa-uk shipping, import vat and onward shipping to you in the uk. Then you have a bit of work to convert to 230v.

Prices have risen for sure in UK, due to a number of factors:
a) increase in demand as pinball has grown in popularity, more barcades opening helping to promote pinball and also using up some of the stock of available pins.
b) Lockdown effect. people wfh/furloughed with time to have a go at a project.
c) Increase in the number of man caves as people convert garages and install ‘sheds’ and then want to put in some ‘toys’.
d) Rising prices of spare parts, and NIB machines. caused by general inflation and changes in vat rules, etc.

I cannot list one reason that prices should fall. if inflation took off and interest rates shot up, then people would be selling their doo-dahs to pay the mortgage, similarly, if we got a hike in income tax rates. But if either of those happened, most of us won’t be buying either, we’ll all be selling!

Tbh i think the nation is riding such a fine line on credit it will be a while before interest rates rise. EVERYTHING is about to get more expensive and that will have a knock on in a year or so but i dont see any great pinball price crash on the cards just steady away

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324625829801 Stern NBA with less than 4 hours left. Think it’s the same fella who sold the BBH and Rolling Stones. What do you think this’ll go for? Currently 2k

Possibly the most forgotten Stern game of the 2000s :hmm:...... only ever seen one once at a show. So pretty rare over here - but as always rare doesn't necessarily mean its deserving of big bucks. Looks a decent example though.

Just looked up the background- sounds like Gary went cap in hand to investors to get this game out after the financial crash? A remake of Space Jam layout to save money with Borg the only designer on the payroll at the time. I was thinking it’s £2.5k due to rarity but Ebay is a lottery. Possibly a crucial game in Stern’s history given how precarious their finances were. Spinner, basketball mech etc - surely Premium spec on a modern Stern lol

I bet if you put a working players DW on ebay at 2k yould get offers of 1k. people seem to like projects
Ye £1420 for a pile of scrap I sold this one fully restored with pinsound colour dmd tons of mods a year ago for £2800

its a decent game though considering. I played it against Robert Gagno at Pinburgh and wasn't humiliated too badly :D Quite enjoyed the game even though first time playing.
