Pinburgh 2019. The year the Brits take over!

It's also $500 prize money.
Great result from Andy.

A shame that none of the other UK players made a final, whatever the division. Was there much evidence of players sandbagging to try and drop to a lower division to give themselves a chance of cash?

Since they changed the way the ties work it’s risky to do that but I had a look at all the groups and couldn’t see anything obvious but you never know!

Think I came the closest out the others to making a final. I missed out on C finals by 3 points 😭

Session 6 - 4
Session 7 - 9
Session 8 - 9
Session 9 - 2
Session 10 - 9

Session 6 and 9 were terrible for house balls or really close scores

But i’m Super happy though! Getting into C and 31 of the 40 machines I played on I had never played before

Can’t wait to come back and try to do better

This is a phenomenal game of Jackbot.
Amazing how a good run on Casino run can make such a difference.

Also congratulations to everyone who made the jaunt to compete.
It is a real pity that your games aren't streamed on the tube.

Now you know why I love meteor :)

Some great games and amazing skills.

Great final so far. Daniele's drop catches are nuts. Figured he was playing first on Tomcat even without the player cam because of them!

Could Keith have chosen the bank with JP in?

It’s data east JP

We think Keith passed on choosing because he couldn’t choose the current bank as he had played it before.

Intergalactic which is streamed today - its the second biggest tournament in the world

Intergalactic Pinball Tournament - A Pinball Competition That’s Out of This World !

At the end of qualifying (10 games) on Saturday, the top 40 players will qualify for finals on Sunday.
In the event that there are more than 400 players who have played at least 4 unique games, we will advance additional players in multiples of 4 to ensure at least 10% of the field of players with at least 4 unique games advance to finals.

Finals will be conducted as a 3 strike knockout tournament.
Players will be grouped in 3 or 4 player groups and play one randomly assigned game.
Players will record the results and return the scoresheet to the registration desk.
The players who finish 3rd and 4th (or 2nd and 3rd in 3 player groups) will receive strikes.

After all results are recorded groups will be drawn again.
Players will be grouped with other players with a similar number of strikes.

Once a player has received 3 strikes they are eliminated from the event.

Play continues until there is only 1 player remaining.
That player will be crowned the Intergalactic Pinball Champion.

ReplayFX and Pinburgh was simply outstanding again. Doug and the team couldn't have nailed it any better! More reflections later in the week but I'm blown away with how good this week has been!

we all fly back tomorrow at various times so safe flights to everyone and its 340 days until Round 1 of Pinburgh 2020 :D

Neil.

Great time. Thanks so much to everyone that came this year. Totally different and much more enjoyable than all those years I've been going solo or with just a couple of us. There's already talk from a few in this crowd about coming again next year, and I expect a few new faces could be up for it too?

I was over the moon about Andy's fantastic run here. I've been saying for a while I think a few good British players could do really well here, and Andy absolutely smashed it. For his first tournament in the USA he's already started to make a name for himself when you hear the likes of Colin McAlpine talking about the round that he played with Andy, where Colin only managed 3 points because Andy crushed it. And then following up his great Pinburgh run with a similarly deep run in the Intergalactic (the second largest tournament in the world). Amazing stuff. That moment we were all sat around the table and waiting for the results to come in, and we realised Andy just (just!) made the A finals cut will live with me for a long and happy time!

Although none of the rest of us managed to make finals day, I think (with one or two exceptions, myself certainly included) we've all done pretty good. I know all of us expected Craig to do much better, and I think with the experience he's picked up from this year, if he could be persuaded to take another shot at it he'll smash it just as hard, if not harder than even Andy did. :)

Max, Simon's son had a pretty staggering qualifying day to go from bottom seed all the way up into C division. On that first day, and especially from bottom seed, you're playing against some of the top seeds. So to be taking points from those guys and coming out above the rest of the pack is pretty impressive.

I think there's plenty more talent, both young and .. not so young, that can do well here. And so once again I'm going to say - come on! Start making mental plans to get yourself over here in 2020! Even if you're not a super serious top ranked player, so long as you love a friendly but competitive atmosphere - you'll not find a better comp on this planet. And even if you're not into the comps *at all*, there's a staggering collection of pins to play. And it's an ace holiday.

See you all next year I hope!
