cheers Carl. In that case will let it run its course and make an offer if it doesn't sell. They guy is a dealer so doubt he will accept but you never know.

Just noticed the playfield is different colours to a regular i500, I think its from a sample run (not that theres anything wrong with that)

There was a BUNCH of color changing going on with the playfield and cabinet very late in the development. The backglass pretty much stayed the same. The changes were based on our German distributor commenting on the color scheme and relating it to "baby colors" which started a wave of color changing.

I have a cabinet test panel on Masonite that is the full red with more purplish tires. My own Indy 500 game was the photoshoot machine for the brochure, which was a VERY early sample run game, and it has the orange to yellow treatment. Also, to add to the confusion, the Indy's seem to have faded more than other cabinets of the era... There where also at least two playfield color versions - I have a rich red to purple NOS playfield and my game (photoshoot, remember) is more orange to lighter blue towards the bottom.

I think the protos were done one way, the sample run done another way (like my game), and the production games were a third version.

Anyone seen the I500 for £1595. on iPad so harder to link. Good game, worth the money?

Good fun game - I had one a few years back, but 1600 is crazy money o_O .....even these days I wouldn't want to be laying out much more than 1K on a faded cab I500 . Seriously the ebay pricing is just f*cking INSANE at present. Thank god I have had 10 years to build my collection cos its a rich mans world out there now. Good luck to all the noobs (no offence) ....you're gonna need it :D

This guy on the South Coast Tobbin is it ? Sold a pin to a Newbie close to me who wanted to re live his days at collage.
The pin was a Indy 500 and the guy only found out about the pinball click after he had spent his money on a over priced pinball. Per usual.
He contacted a friend of mine and asked for help to set it up and some advice. The pin had wear between the flippers and was pretty dirty, it had been wipped down as you could see the streeks of dirt from a damp cloth. Had been advertised as having all new rubbers, only the two slings were new everything else was perishing and crumbling.
The biggest ****er was that two of the four square targets were missing and replaced with a three bank ****ty target,. This would be big money to put right. Usual board bodges on the GI which needs to be sorted.
Once again keep well clear of this guy he buys cheap from eastern block countrys and flips them for top money.
And all this was on a new guy to the hobby. What does that say about your fellow pin head.
Tosser.

I keep feeling I am ten years behind this hobby to be honest with terms of money lol I took a punt the other day and emailed all the local holiday parks asking if they had any pins, hoping they would have something interesting. I heard back off one who said they had nothing lol

I looked at the ebay listing - you actually could see in the photos the targets weren't original. Unfortunately a newbie to the hobby prob wouldn't clock this. Agree with everything else you say. Saying it had new rubbers, and it hasn't is just plain f*cking stupid.

I have had it up to here with bull**** sellers on ebay. I dont know why it should bother me cos I dont buy from ebay anymore, but it does. There are a lot of *poor* condition games being touted at eyewatering prices right now - be careful people, ask questions on here if in doubt.

Thats just it the guy being brand new to the hobby did not know what to look for and one target is like another to him shame they are the most expensive targets out there.
Its allways the case people need to look for these forums and pinball groups before going ahead and giving total ****ers loads a money for a sub standard pinball machine.

I'd say a working one is up to £900 if it's nice, so yes, thats a f*cking joke :) Is this one we'll see constantly getting re-listed.

I've not played a TFTC, let alone owned one, but its on my list. What's wrong with it, why is it 'relatively unpopular'?

I'd certainly be happy to buy a fully working TFTC for 800 or so, a bit more for a beauty .... anyone selling?

Think Tales is a bit of an acquired taste. Probably not a bad machine, but for me, it always sounds and feels a bit "clunky" with the targets etc, so never really been interested. Don't think it's a total dog, just standard DE. Would have thought you could still pick one up sub-£1000 relatively easily. Also, you've been home a matter of hours and you're already trying to buy a new machine.....

I500 is very good, I'd make an offer though, one went earlier in the week for 1300 off here.

If you mean mine it was £1,100. Good game for the money but not a £1,600 game... particularly when it's a shagged one from Pinball Paradise of the South. No stand up LED targets fitted ! WTF? That guy should burn in hell, complete tw*t.

Think I need to put my Creature on there if can put up with usual Ebay nonsense.

Nothing 'wrong' with it. I had one for a while

Its def one of the better DE games of the time. Good solid ruleset - a bit Tommy like with a Gravestone instead of the Mirror, a whole bunch of modes to work thru to get to the Wizard mode, multiball, cool ramp with a 180 degree loop thingy.

The whole package is not to everyones taste however - its very in yr face from the over the top garish artwork to the dmd effects and the manic laughter ....oh god the cackling manic laughter ...that alone drives many people away from it.

I thought the crypt-keepers laughing would get on my tits, but it doesn't too much. Musics great and takes a lot of effort to get to the wizard mode.

Ordinarily i'd say that an early bid is often a shill bid, but i'm not convinced in this case.

Does seem pretty crazy to be bidding that kind of money so early.

... and encourage the seller not to take off Ebay for an external cash offer. Likely stay around that figure until nearer the end now.

I was chatting to someone the other day who I have a lot of respect for, they thought it was cheating to bid in the last 10 seconds. I tried to explain the benefits from the last minute bids, not least they help you to set a price you are prepared to pay and not encourage additional stupid bids, but he thought that you should enter your bid early and review it over time. Ebay want people to bid all the time and raise the price yet their process rewards last minute snipping the same as an early bid.
The only time I bid early is if I am not around and take a pop, it has been a while since I was successful.

Exactly the same here Geoff. I hate having to bid close to the end of an auction but it's about the only way to secure an item at a price anywhere near to what you want to pay. Sure if I was a millionaire then maybe i'd not bother, but bidding early in my view generally means you either pay more or miss out entirely.

On that MM, if a nice restored one goes for around £5K - £6K then you wouldn't want to be into it for more that £5K say. A new pf is £750, cab decals £300 so as long as the main mechs and plastics are ok on that one you could budget another £450 on parts and still pay £3.5K for the base game. If your prepared to do the work then you could end up with a nice restored MM for around the current market value, but its a lot of work :) No bargain to be had though.

If you bid early it encourages those dishonest sellers just to shill-bid you up. Last minute is usually the only way to 'try' and get it at the price you're prepared to pay.
