No disrespect to his skills, that's for sure. Everything is turned out to perfection. I thought it was very canny of him to catch the action on the speaker upgrades and create his little drop-in spacer mod. Still doesn't stop me from being surprised at the £369 price tag on a coin door! But I'm notoriously cheap. Mainly because I haven't got that sort of cash to lavish on my hobby ;)

Sure. I suppose the price can only be a reflection (ha geddit?) of the amount of work that goes into it. Done a few coin door restorations myself and it's a lengthy process. But when he's knocking out speaker spacers at £5 a pop inc postage, he's definitely not trying to rip anyone off.

reflection (ha geddit?)
Ooh, that was a cheap gag  !!!

I bet sending it off for re-chroming ain't cheap. And there's definitely plenty of effort there in the polishing. I should know - takes me feckin' ages to shine stuff up! But my time is cheap ;)

But when you try to sell a manual for £100, and other such "tricks" which are really designed to catch out the newbie to the hobby, thats where i have the problem....

Playing devils advocate here.... anyone can put any price they like on something. An equal responsibility lies with the buyer. These days it takes seconds to get rough idea of prices via the web. In all walks of life we are all presented with vastly overpriced stuff all the time, and manage to not buy it ;)

So does that mean that you can source me a TOM @GrizZ for a price I can afford - I know you love them so much:p - I'm not knocking anyone - I'm just naive!!:cuckoo:

Another scam? same old scammer changed his pic and dropped the email address? what's the verdict? or is this the real deal? no feedback, short listing duration and £9 delivery and lack of images says it's a rogue IMO

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Medieval-...115?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item259fa97a03

It does look like his form - The "bought from Pinball Heaven" line sounds like its from previous ads. I like that the location is listed as being from Daventry though...

Delivery costs are a dead giveaway. Alright, here we go. Who's with me in the bid for 50k?

Can confirm this guy is defintitely the same scammer because I'm blocked from bidding. He must keep a copy of which bidders to block lol!

I spotted this too but I don't understand it:

If he hasn't put in the usual "contact-me-directly-on-this-email", how does the scam work? If he's hacked someone else's account, then they're going to get all communication, bids etc aren't they????

If he has the account details I assume he can alter the account email and deviate any messages or more than likely it is an account specifically set up for scamming due to the low feedback.

Bit new to all this.
What exactly is the scam, and how do you spot the usual suspects?

The same guy with 0 feedback selling a MM too cheap with no description, using someone else's photos

The MM comes up quite often as it's a sort after machine. Beware sellers who are encouraging you to contact them via another email account, often in a photo at the top of the screen.

It's also impossible to see the machine as the seller is "away" and the machine is in Scotland/cornwall etc.

Payment by Western Union should ring danger signals.

Any sale where you can't physically pick up the machine is a red flag. I'll admit to doing it a lot but sooner or later you are asking to get stung. Normally you can judge a seller ie if they are willing to let you pick the machine up then you know it actually exists (though maybe a piece of crap:mad:)

Anything on Loot is a con

Gumtree seems to have got a bit better but be wary

Sadly there are no bargains left on ebay. You might get lucky and find a machine a few hundred pounds cheaper but no one is going to sell a MM/AFM on there for £1000. low prices should automatically raise concerns.

For a safer buying experience I'd recommend this forum

The MM comes up quite often as it's a sort after machine

*sought* after - sought is the past participle of the verb to seek; sort means a load of other things - http://www.thefreedictionary.com/sort
happy birthday you old hippy

Erm, OK me not do good grammar like.

Can't even blame that one on typing it on a phone. Guess it's maybe just because I'm **** at English.

Mind you, compared to the grammar used in my school I'm a bloody genius. "I'm coming from the toilet" - no, you're going to the toilet. "My cousin's brother", He's also your bloody cousin. - ARRRAAGGGGHHHH. Not to mention my all time pet peeve of "I writ it down"

The really weird thing about that MM scam is that despite only having 1 feedback the seller is listed as a 'long term seller' and has been registered since 16th January 2012, which coincidentally was the same day he got his only bit of feedbak.

Oh, and that feedback was for a purchase too, so in fact he has no feedback at all when it comes to selling.

The idea that someone would try to flog a MM with next to no pictures screams scam at me.

Ok guys, own up, who is it?

To
I believe this is the one the Pinball Info crew keep getting removed. Scam.

Weirdly it is listed as being in Daventry where the UK Pinball Party is held each year, but yeah looks well dodge :)

This looks like a very suspicious listing: only 1 picture; minimal description; shipping via first class post at GBP8.90; short listing time; and seller only 1 feedback as a buyer left over a year ago.

Either a very naïve seller or it’s a scam.

Anyone been in touch with seller?

David
