Bang on right.

You simply aren't covered by paypal/ebay if you collect in person as it negates the proof of delivery.

I wonder what happens if you take the funds out of your paypal account immediately - do they charge it to your associated bank account when they try and 'reverse' the dodgy transaction. Seems like a total con to me by Paypal anyway - I don't see how it's fair that the seller is penalised if the paypal system has been compromised - they should just improve their security and take the hit whilst it remains not secure enough.

Lol. Got mine for £500 and think it's a great laff.

Wouldn't mind the big guns but cash on collection is how I usually pay too many scammers out there

I can't understand why a seller would only accept paypal on collection.

Sounds like a total inexperienced ebayer who buys into their way of doing things, which also means Ebay/Paypal get a bigger cut of the money.

I've seen that picture before thats on ebay, i msg'd him no answer. So iam unsure..

Anyway, Fire Mountain anyone ?

Know nothing about that particular one ....however worth bearing in mind this is a Zaccaria machine. Made some good games but the knowledge base on the web is far smaller than for some of the other manufacturers. Finding help , info and/or parts can be tricky. Working boards for Zaccs are hard to find should it need them.

+1 if the boards are screwed then it could get expensive. The fact there's only 1 pic and it doesn't show the game switched off would worry me.

That's what i thought, I notice the power chord doesn't seem uk 3 pin either.

The FIRE MOUNTAIN looks like it being sold at an open-air antiques fair. I can't identify it conclusively because I don't recognise any specific landmarks, but it looks like it's the International Antiques & Collectors Fair at the South Of England Showground, Ardingly in West Sussex. There are often traders from Continental Europe who come in the BIGGEST lorries loaded with tonnes of salvaged antiques, I suspect because it's not too far from Folkestone/Dover. The fact that the pin seems to have a continental power plug only adds to my conclusion.

Interesting side story: I picked up my ASTRO FIGHTER cocktail cabinet arcade game here back in about '96 for £10. Sold condition unknown with the plug cut off. I thought I'd bagged myself a cool new coffee table. Imagine how chuffed I was when I plugged it in and it worked! Imagine how even more pleased I was because I spotted a second machine exactly the same that day (they must have come from an auction or job lot) and that seller asked for £150!

In the past, when I have sold my cars on ebay, I have stated bank transfer only, no cash on collection. Because it is a pain in the ass thoroughly checking a couple of hundred twenty pound notes, and making sure no ones trying to offload a pile of fakes on you.

Sorry all, I've had to pull the ebay listing as the DMD is now not functional. Bloody typical, no problems in the 3 years I've owned it and when I want to sell it goes tits up!

Now you can sell it on here then with a faulty DMD as you have 'pulled' the ebay listing? ;)

There used to be a FIRE MOUNTAIN at @Special When Lit. Maybe @Moonraker can shed a little light on what it's like to work on, find parts for, etc.?

It was very reliable, the only part that I required was missing when I purchased it was the link between the spinner and the registering spinner arm. Eventually had it made on a 3D printer...

Initially programming it to get a game on it is interesting though...

I can't believe somebody paid over £1330 for those 3 pieces of junk.

Did it turn out to be a forum group buy then?

More than I would habe bid but I can believe it . Its not beyond the realms of imagination to see a project Big Guns, Pinbot or Fire going for 400+ on its own on the bay so 1300+ is not that wild. People love projects, and they love the thought of hopefully lucking out with a simple fix into the bargain.

Some shenanigans going on here ......

Based on the photos it looks like this Spectrum is back, yet again. This one was advertised for 700 with one late bid taking it in on Sat 24 Jan in Fareham. It was reoffered the same day by the same seller, then withdrawn as per these listings

It is now for sale in Birmingham under a different seller

Hmm, different sellers and different locations, but the same photos and description - including "bought in October". Something very fishy going on there.
