So theres me thinking Scottish people would always go 500 miles then would go 500 more on the way back :p:D

Saw the post last night and thought to myself it won't take long before somebody makes a joke involving the proclaimers,it did take longer but I guess that's because all the lucky ones are away to nlp playing pinball on all those machines instead of reading pinball info.

Dararada dararada dararada ...da da da da da daaa:rofl:

They have just brought out a new album if your that interested, going to be at least 1 track from it on their pin.

Unusual appearance on ebay of a stern transformers. And also a spiderman. Nice for a change. Love the transformers but can't afford it.

It is nice to know there are true genuine honest people still on gumtree. Absolute gentleman and pleasure to deal with. He told me he had 20 people lined up behind me and even turned down an offer of twice the asking price to keep his promise of "first in with the money gets the pin".

I picked it up first thing this morning for my brother Jason and delivered it to him, removed the head and helped him carry it up 3 flights of stairs.

Game is in pretty good condition conditon considering it has sat in his garage for 12 years with the batteries left in . Somehow no damage was done to the board.

It has errors, I suspect that some of the wires and plugs need checking. My bro has been looking for a project for sometime and is very thankful this affordable classic came up. I am sure he will have it up and running in no time.

Nice bonus artwork under the head

Nice score  Killer Sys 11 game

WW is frickin awesome. Brutal but awesome. That was a killer deal. I've had mine for a couple of years now and it's staying firmly put.

Honest people are great, that's defo how I'd do it - there's no way I'd accept a higher offer from a second bidder, out of general principle. But I try and just set a price and if you don't want it at that price, then what-ever. Don't get me wrong, I will price a machine at present market value if I'm selling, which has led to some wins, but mainly losses. Think you got a bargain there, did he know it was under-priced? Personally I'd slip him a few notes later if you really liked the guy, then sell it on later for a huge profit - keep that honesty going :-) But each to their own :-)

He knew he was selling it for under market value, I thought he was a bit mad too, but he was more interested in selling it to the right person who would genuinely appreciate it. I don't think he was short on cash hence accepting the asking price. I couldn't stop thanking him haha.
The forum will be pleased to know my brother won't be flipping this any time soon. I will be getting first dibs on it anyway :p

Did that ww game seriously go for £250 ????? Must be worth thrice that, at least

Some effin, bull****ting tool selling a funhouse ....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Funhouse-Pinball-Machine-/131627159897?hash=item1ea5971159

" This machine is in fair condition, may need a couple of bulbs or bands which are pennies to replace, it is in full working order, you can not buy this machine for under £3k anywhere else so this is your chance to snap up a bargain!! "

For the avoidance of any doubt, my funhouse is available for £2,950. So you can grab yourself a real bargain from me instead :hmm:

Really glad to hear that this was for real, also pleased to hear that it's going to be used for profit.

He sounds like a nice person :-) Enjoy it :-)

A machine comes up in my price range, someone snags it and back to square one again....
Keep looking. Ask around. Try over on the Yahoo ukpinball forum as a few folks on there don't use this funky modern site. Bargains do still exist, right place, right time, and all that.

And hopefully whilst you're searching your budget is expanding quicker than pinflation so you'll be in with more of a chance.

My most expensive pin was "only" £350 (peanuts compared to most) for which I had to sell a laptop and bunch of other stuff I decided I wanted less. Caused the mother of all sh*tstorms with my wife but it's all blown over now and I'm happy as a pig on poop with my little 3 pin collection of crusty old classics :)

As @Nedreud says .....timing, location, luck ...a lot of luck.... is needed to snag something like that Whirlwind. Believe me they don't pop up like that very often. You have to face some hard truths - there are a LOT of pinheads who are scouring ebay and Gumtree every single day. All looking for a bargain or even a reasonably priced pin.

Prices of pinballs have also risen dramatically in the last decade .... the days of picking up decent solid states for under 250 and DMD games for under 500 are long gone, you missed the boat by 10 years. Sorry but thats the truth. In 2007 it took me a month to sell a Pinbot for 250  Now ...good luck finding one for sale...let alone a 'cheap' one. Demand is seriously outstripping supply these days.

Best bet to score a project or a cheapy really is word of mouth. Let every single person you meet know you are into pinball. Go to shows or meets, make contact with pinheads. Most of my good scores have been this way. Right now I know of a working Sys 11 in an old guys garage, I got chatting to him at the Slam and ended up doing a small repair on it for him. I'm pretty certain if I went round tomorrow and made an offer I could buy it . Just an example.

A budget of 250 *should* with a bit of good fortune get you an EM on ebay these days. This just finished at £255. I had a cheeky bid myself as it was local :) Didnt win.

Save like hell too. If you're buying an older SS game, then unless you buy off here, you are unlikely to buy over the odds, so will recoup your money when it comes to sell. So once you have one you are 'in the market' as it were, so will be able to swap to different titles without being hit by 'pinflation' too much.
