Bram Stokers Dracula - The now sorta shop log.

Crushed walnut shell is what I've always used. Squeeze in some Autosol or Novus 2 as a lubricant for even better results. (1..2 tablespoons)

+1 for adding some Autosol. It makes a big difference to the finish imo. And it’s cheap as chips on Amazon.

Crushed walnut medium I believe. Ant sent me some with the tumbler.

Definitely go with medium walnut shell. Any smaller and your spend the next week picking it out literally everything you’ve tumbled.

Replacement ramps arrived today all the way from the US and more importantly intact. Cost was mad but these are much better condition than mine.

Goo Gone is a great solvent lifted the old decals residue right off.

Getting the rivets off were a bitch.

Anyone know where I can get pressless rivets from? I'm worried about cracking the plastic.

Cleaning the ramp flap was also a lot of hassle but came out OK.

Marco I think or pinball life, although I'm sure someone in here or in the UK has them. There is a debate about using them, I have flaps for LOTR and will need to re-rivett I believe the it better to not use them. However I might be wrong.

Looking good Scott.

I’ve read a lot about Goo Gone. You would recommend it then?
It seems to be really popular in the US when it comes to Pinball and arcade restorations.

So after consulting with a few BSD owners on Pinside I discovered a lot of BSD's shipped from the factory with
FL-11630's instead of FL-15411's due to air balls and smashed plastics. So despite the manual stating to use FL-15411's a good chunk of people operate FL-11630's.

Today I swapped out the coils with the FL-11630's and voila the air balls stopped and the ball no longer flies off the ramp. Shots are all fine I can still back hand the coffin ramp for instance.

Going to consider the issue closed for myself.

Next month I apply the decals.

Tidied up the cab a bit in preparation.

Anyone either have this piece or could cut me a ramp flap? Pinbits had them but aren't shipping to the UK.

Ramp Flap.JPG

Its for the coffin ramp.

Many thanks,

Scott

Hi
Where did you get your replacement ramps from?? Iv been after a set for ages.
Thanks

So looks like I didn't isolate that short or I've introduced a new one.

F104 is blowing again.

Machine had been off its legs, side rails and coin door while the machine parts were being powder coated since before the issue was thought resolved.

Went to mount the side rails and the DMD came loose but didn't fall far came off its hinge.

I put it back in. Checked cables. One had come loose in the button left of the DMD driver board as a result of the tug and I reseated it.

I had lost a small clip that holds the arm for the coffin ramp while cleaning it. I thought this might have been the issue but found it whilst checking through the wiring.

When I was installing the side rails the back box wires were quite taught. I'm hoping it's not related I've provided the harnesses with more slack.

Removing J107 stops the fuse from blowing like before.

This time I can't blame a loose wire in the slingshot area.

Only thing really new here is the legs and side rails going back on.

Could these be responsible for a short?

If anyone in the Swindon area can come round and help out it would be appreciated!

Have you measured the resistance of each coil to help rule out that a coil has shorted?
I did before but didn't find anything.

I do suspect the ramp coil for the coffin as it was making what I can only call a 'jamming' noise when trying to release the ramp.

I can successfully manipulate the mech manually so its not a physical issue that I can see.

I'm going to check the resistance but finding the part is a royal pain.

SM1-28-900-DC

In on way I want it to be the problem. In the other I don't if you know what I mean... I'll update shortly.

It reads 10.5 I think it should be 11 so that's fine right?

it doesn't look to be that coil. I honestly can't see anything out of place. This has got me stumped.

Did you disconnect the coil, reconnected J107 and seen if the fuse blows or not...???
I'm low on fuses I've gone through like 7...

I heard there are resettable fuses for fault finding.

Where can I get those?

Get something like this

put a bit of cable with a croc clip on each blade.
something like these

can just clip them on or cut cable in half and solder/blade onto blades of trip

Any pinball place or electronic component specialist - they're called circuit breakers.
