Black Knight Sword Of Rage VIDEO + first info

I'd totally give one of these a go. Amazing artwork and tunes and one of the coolest toys ever. Plus that topper is 🔥

I loved mine whilst i owned it, but i got frustrated with the upper playfield and the lack of extra combo shots on the loop possibilities. Too much doing nothing much up there.

The best thing for me was the graphics and art for the characters in the modes. This was another thing they should have done more of. ie 2 characters for each realm, not just 1. I think maybe they were going to do this but as it wasn't as popular a title for them they pulled back on it.

My catapult's a bit battered after 1k games and a bit...

Is it fixable without welding equipment?

It will be a weld repair job. They are fabricated using an interlocking castellated design. The welding on these type of ramps are tig welded, but often look like they have just fused them without adding any extra filler wire. This leads to undercut, and a lack of strength, and ultimately to the weld failing like this

Brought it to my local shop, they agree that it looks like it's autogenous welds (and I learned a new word, autogenous!)

The other side had also failed, so all 6 underside welds failed. Said they'd repair with some filler (fsck the expense!) and that the welds would sit a bit proud as a result.

Bad news is they've got a 2-week queue - so I've now temporarily got a Pro! (Put the upper PF back in without the catapult, disabled upper flipper.)

2 week queue?! they could knock that out in under an hour. Didn't any of their guys fancy a few quid in their pocket? :hmm:

If you get stuck, then you could always post it to me for repair

"10 minute job" he said. Asked if there were any other options but no. Oh well, they've got the part now and at least the machine is somewhat playable (and I'm getting a new game tomorrow!), so I'll just live with it...

Thanks for the offer though - next time I would definitely take you up on it!

- Added a ball saver when the player starts Black Castle.
- Added additional ball savers every time the player hits an outer shot to
progress the mode.

high score leaderboards:

- Added Retro Black Knight Multiball challenge mode.

down for 10 seconds until the flippers lose power and the mode ends.

- Added The King's Ransom Multiball challenge mode:
- 60 second mode timer.
- Unlimited balls in play until the timer ends.

Stern Insider Connected:

- Added Connectivity Ready -
- The game can have a connectivity kit installed and be connected to
STERN INSIDER CONNECTED.

- To log in, hold your QR code over the scanner. When you see you are
logged in - push start. By default, the game will automatically start
the game for everyone that is logged in with one button press.

- Before you press start, while the login screen is up, the most recently
logged in player can use the flipper buttons to move which player position
they will be in.

- After the game, by default, players will have a few seconds to press
start and all stay logged in. The game will start all games with one
press of the start button.

- Added Achievements -
- There are 68 achievements you can now earn if you are logged in.
- Achievements will pop up after you have received them as soon as they
can. Also, they are seen at the start of end of ball bonus if you

ADV_START_BUTTON_BEHAVIOR_ALL_LOGGED_IN) holding the start button on
ball 2 or greater will restart the game for as many
players as is necessary to accommodate the users that are logged in.
If there are not enough credits to restart the game for the necessary
number of players, the game will not be restarted.

This replaces the dots display previously shown at power on after an update.

Great to see new features being added to this game. :)

Kings Random - 60 sec timed mode during which you earn an extra ball only for it to play the animation, launch the ball once the 60 secs is up then kill the flippers whilst you enter your name?!! A little rushed I feel.

What a pile of ****, just played a normal game and it put my score as the high score for the two new added modes!?! - I would advise to not update for now.

…and War hurry up now sometimes shows a black background with no animation!!

The pinside thread is also full of people complaining about bugs.

Of course, now that they have auto-updates in, there's no need to test stuff anymore. Code can be full of bugs and just dish out updates every day! Classic...

According to the thread on pinside they've fixed the bugs yeah.

Annoyingly the UI has changed though and during the whole game you get 3 "PRESS START" rectangles at the bottom of the screen which is kind of ugly.
It still kept crashing at Neil's last weekend on the latest code - hopefully this time they've figured out the issue.

As for the press start being displayed - this is the same on all machines now. You can however go in to settings and change max no. of players to anything from 1 to 4. I've changed to to max 1 at home so I only get my score displayed centrally. Obviously if you often play with more than 1 person you can't really do this.
