Underside of playfield almost rebuilt , just the huge 7 way drop target mech to add later. it plugs in so no soldering.
I’ve tested all the switches as i’ve been going along screwing them to the pf, quite a few needed adjustments. a few diodes broken too, replaced.
Nice new red lettered mini flippers
Last bit of soldering underside is for the outhole kicker that i need to reinstall on the upside
I’ll also test all the gi and feature leds before flipping the playfield over for topside fittings
Still feeling the effects of c-19. i’m knackered after just a few hours work, so that’s it for today !

After a break of two weeks (c-19 the main issue), I got back onto this again
Finished off the underside of the playfield, everything screwed down and all the wiring loom fasteners back in place. Retested all the switches again.
Cabinet ready to start rebuilding. I’ve moved it out of the garage into the pin room, so I can get on with metalwork cleaning and polishing in the garage.

Refitted the rear light array to playfield.
It runs the full width of the pf and contains 22 controlled and 3 gi lamps. bit of a beast. The writing plugs into the loom wiring.
Spent a loooooong time cleaning and polishing metal. nowt to see really as it’s all prep work. i literally have 87 pieces of metal to shine up.
For a change of scenery, and to rest my aching hands, I think I’ll give this dirty boy a clean and freshen up.

now to start the cab refit
Emptied the tumbler. a lot of nice shiny metal bits to go back into the cab and backbox.

yes. i bought the translucent red flipper bats, but then realised this game has gottlieb flipper mechs on it. i like the beefiness of the gotlieb mechs so decided to stick with them for the time being. the shaft diameter is bigger so the new flipper bats won’t fit. So options in future are to switch back to bally flipper mechs or I could get a shaft collar made to make the red flipper bats fit.

love it, still though. Another Bally classic restored to its former glory. Oh if you need a backglass lift trim give me a shout. (Not that we noticed the crusty one on it

Think i’ve got one Keith. but got the life of me i can’t find it. I need to polish the coin door more and the lockdown bar. but that’s all post xmas work as now gotta prep for a building extension which will trash my garage workspace.
