Well I don't think you're being totally honest there if you watched it all at least anyway some of it was atrocious. The language and attitude towards other players especially.

Can you be a bit more specific? I watched a helluva lot of the stream and didn't notice any attitude towards other players.

Tuned into the stream yesterday, gotta say I was impressed. Watching Rayday in particular is just mind-blowing 🤯

Side note does anyone know how long Dramalord is still banned for? I kinda miss the banter lol

There's not much to say, that hasn't been said!

Neil is truly a force of nature, some nights he only slept a couple of hours!

The man has a vision of what pinball should be like in the UK, i can't think of many comps other than the IFPA Worlds that draw more than 14 or the top 25 players in the world to comp and make the Stern Pro Circuit after one event!

I'm absolutely knackered but honored to be part of an awesome team!

Between the mission control and the tech corner, i had my hands full!

Couldn't think of better people to share my team with! Neil, Marc, Sophia, Diana, Clive, Mike, Bob, James and Stan, made my weekend :)

Neil is already planning 2024!

Yeah, post away. I'm curious as to what I've missed.

Just go to any point Levi was on. In his defence he was half cut from necking a bottle of whiskey / bourbon so you can't blame him?

Trouble is his mouth trickled onto the others and even the woman was getting foul.

It take a lot from any of you to offend me, especially him but it's always the others. I saw a couple people say "thanks for that, my son / kids just learned some new words".

Just keep it family friendly, right? Remember where you are even if you are drunk and you know you are being viewed from every country.

Just because you didn't see or hear anything doesn't mean it didn't happen multiple times.

I'm not saying it didn't happen. I was saying I didn't spot any attitude towards other players.

Can you post the clips you said you could? Don't want to trawl through hours of footage.

I won't be trawling through hours for you either. They know each other so the attitude is banter anyway still doesn't excuse his mouth.

Raymond probably doesn't mind being referred to as fat and desperate for whoppers off the street, that's how he plunges a ball you see just like he's seen a whopper on the street like a starving man.

I won't be spending any more than 30 seconds on you and obviously that includes pulling clips which would take about 15 minutes for me to do.
Out of curiosity, was the foul-mouthed commentary during the Classics finals or the UK Open finals? I’ve started watching the footage on Twitch, but am only about an hour into the 18 hours of Open finals stream.

You originally offered to post clips as proof. All I did was ask you to post them.

You gave me the impression you had been clipping some of the footage. If you've changed your mind, don't worry about it. It's ok.

As I said, I watched the majority of the stream and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There was a bit of bad language from Levi in the finals of the Open but nothing too bad. You'll hear far worse in any pub. Don't bother looking it up. Not worth it.

Might have been my bad language picked up when I had to play bloody Star Wars ;)

Thanks Neil and all the amazing people that gave up their time to make this even better than last year's event. Just wow!

Appreciate you all.

Levi is a cornerstone of the community in America, Americans have a better sense of banter and we all know each other well enough to know when someone actually means it.

And there wasn't one bad wrong said between anyone all weekend.

Before the last year i travelled a lot to play pinball and made some amazing friendships and i had to take a backseat the last year due to staffing issues but this weekend really showed me what i was missing! Loved every second of it

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered over the weekend. The event literally couldn't have run without you all helping on the front desk and scorekeeping.

There were 100 volunteer tickets sold, and on the Friday alone there were 72 slots (with 3 volunteers on each bank and 4 on classics) - so it definitely would never have gone ahead without everyone who took on extra shifts. I know some of the shifts were definitely busier than others but everyone worked hard and took the busier shifts without complaint - the Saturday night in particular was really busy, but I was so pleased to see that people were never waiting long for their scores to be taken and this kept queue times lower as well. It's not an easy job (high accuracy and high stress at times) so everyone did really well. And fortunately - no 2 strikes, so no one had to be asked to stop scoring, which I was quite relieved about!!

I want to say a special thank you to a few people - Sophia, Nick @mufcmufc and Nancy who helped out on the front desk, which meant I could check scorekeepers were okay and take part in the ladies competition. David @David_Vi also helped to cover the volunteers while I was in the ladies finals which was a big help!

On the scorekeeping front - thank you so much to Chris @Fantazia2 (10 shifts!), Nick @Nickoss II (6 shifts!), Andy @Andy B (5 shifts - and helped Matt with taking games to and from the club on Sunday night until 4am). I think they all win the Blue Peter badges for most volunteer hours! Darren Smith also did several shifts and didn't want any tickets for it - really amazing! Plus, George Bennett, Ethan and Lucy all offered to do scorekeeping shifts too - they did a fantastic job and seemed to really enjoy it!

But a big thank you to everyone who did extra shifts on top of their volunteering ticket - Martin @SPLITKING, Jeremy @StandUpAndFight, Ben Leigh @Benleigh250, Dan Pike, Ben Pike, Tony Greenwood, Stewart @Judderman, Graham Swaffield, Gene @Genotime, Chris @Lebowskis Rug, Dan Pocklington, Martyn @cyberkryten, Nick Clark, Sean Fitzpatrick, Will Beynon, Sarah Vince, Andy Campbell, Emma Campbell, Alan Irving, Brad Attwood, Peter Blakemore @Moonraker, Armen Lloyd and Vin Jauhal @thelab :)

And of course - the event really couldn't have happened without James @MajesticPinball, Bob @pinballtoys, Clive Bush, Kirk @Tilt_Birmingham and Mike @Mike Parkins who were flat out all weekend fixing stuck balls, repairing games and making sure we could all play.

I didn't get to play many games at all, but I did manage to qualify on my first ticket for the ladies with a crazy score of 132 million on Led Zeppelin - 2nd highest on the bank, so I was really excited about that! Just a shame I couldn't get close to that in the Ladies finals, but I guess I had a lot on my mind :)

Thank you again everyone, the pinball community is amazing <3

The worst of it was last night which they got taken off about 4 hours towards the end, it was only Levi but he was rubbing off on others like last night.

If he wasn't half cut I don't think he's normally like that, but just pointing it wasn't perfect by any stretch, there's no need for it when people are watching from all over at any point of the day.

As I said before, so many incredible moments were happening in every round, but I just thought I would highlight one that was almost more impressive than any of the incredible play happening.

In the PBR playoffs which happened late on the Sunday night, the final game of the first round was on Indy 500. Julio put up over 1B on ball one, but a ball got jammed in the turbo and the DMD died. This was a high pressure situation with players tournament lives on the line. With such calm and serene poise @pinballtoys and @MajesticPinball were able to deal with this situation live, keeping game state, diagnosing the issue and getting the game restarted within a matter of minutes. I was speaking to Peter Anderson about it, he was blown away with how Bob and James dealt with it, he thought for sure that the game was done. It was amazing to see these skills on display in such a visible and pressurised situation, I was taken back to be honest. It's so far out of my comfort zone, I would have turned to apple crumble in that situation, amazing to witness. It was clear that these things were happening all the time, people just fronting up and dealing with situations as they arose, the tech team just putting out fires everywhere, a proper team effort, so impressive.

Thank you, thank you

It's nice to be recognised and appreciated a little so thank you. We weren't too sure how the game would acknowledge the balls being put back in the trough after being taken out mid-ball but everything played out perfectly.

Can't really add to what's already been said by others, but just wanted to express my thanks and gratitude to everyone who made the event possible and kept things running smoothly.
I didn't get much playing done (spent most of the time socialising or chilling out this year - too hungover sunday morning to use the rest of my tickets 🥵 so went home), but was very well run and the scorekeepers worked tirelessly and with great enthusiasm 👍🏻

Also congrats to all who qualified and to the various winners; not an easy task!

Wow, what a weekend, can’t add much that hasn’t been said already, bigger and better than last year with more of the top players. A huge thanks to everyone who had anything at all to do with organising and running things.

I spent more time watching than playing this year, but that's because it great to see Josh do so well against a world class field, the fact so many top players came over for this shows it's now a major event in pinball

For the truly geeky amongst you, I've compiled a spreadsheet for scores from 100+ different machines (and counting) using data from the weekly PBR league events and UK Open 2022/2023. Some of the columns won't be useful to anyone except me, but it lists the:
  • PBR median league score (i.e. if you were a middle-of-the-table player at PBR Thursday night league, what would your walk-up score be for this machine)
  • UK Open qualifying score (i.e. estimated score needed to qualify for the UK Open finals on each machine in the tournament where it appeared - assuming perfect consistency across the whole card)
  • UK Open basement (likely not interesting to anyone else, but it's an estimate for the score for a middle-of-the-table PBR league player would get in the UK Open if they scored consistently across their whole card)
  • UK Open stretch (also likely not interesting to anyone else, but an estimate for the score a middle-of-the-table PBR league player would need to get to carry 1-2 poor scores on their best card in the UK Open)
I've used 2023 data where possible, only adding 2022 data if the machine didn't appear in 2023. The spreadsheet is available for non-nefarious purposes. Please PM me if you'd like access to it.
