I told myself that this was the one. That we were meant for each other. As though my whole life had been a lie until the day when we met. I could hardly contain my excitement the day you moved in, it just felt so right. You even answered the phone and told people to move their car, which was hilarious. “This is forever” I told people, and meant it.

But then I ran out of space.

And then the newer models arrived. The newer, younger models. This hobby makes monsters of us all.

Up for sale is the beautiful Theatre of Magic. This is a nice one too, refurbed by a chap in Italy who went a bit bananas on it to be honest. Gold everything - and I mean everything. Gold armour! Gold playfield hex screws! Gold leg levellers! Gold lockdown receiver! Gold newton ball! Gold nuts and bolts! Even the backbox lock is gold (even though there is no key). So if you like gold, you aint gonna get golder than this. One time Goldie came round to my place and he was like “Damn, that thing is gold!” and I was like “don’t you have someplace you need to be?” and he got a bit miffed and left. Which just goes to show that all that glitters is not Goldie.

I’ve added a few mods, some of my own, and some from others, but I don’t really prescribe to adding tat to machines just for the sake of it so everything here (should) serves a purpose and add to the experience.

It’s a lovely example, not mint, but close. Couple of things that stop it from being 100% mint which I’ll outline below.

What’s Hot
  • The Goldness!
  • Playfield is basically perfect
  • New Cab Decals
  • Colour DMD (pin2dmd)
  • Invisiglass (Neals)
  • Refurbed - so the harness, playfield mechs etc have all been cleaned and are looking minty
  • 3D Rotating Tiger Saw Mod (with custom Rudedogg paint)
  • Indestructible Trunk mod
  • Stumbler Trunk Fix board
  • Lenticular (3D) apron cards
  • 2 x Stumblor Steady Eddy Outlane boards (auto eddy boards that fix the dodgy outlane magnet Eddys)
What’s Not
  • Broken plastic back right backboard. Common breakage, I have a replacement which I’ll include.
  • Lockdown bar and siderails gold show a bit of usage wear. Let’s call it a “patina” - but realistically the gold was probably not applied thick enough in these high wear areas.
  • There’s a couple of mechs on the playfield that could be nicer - the gold on the spirit ring isn’t great, and one of the ramp flaps needs to be re-blued. There also looks to be a broken clear plastic above the right ramp that I’m sure Col could sort you out (it’s not really noticeable).
  • The ‘vanish’ ufo hole at the back sometimes takes a couple of tries to eject the ball. Also a common problem, can be resolved by raising the plastic there slightly, which I haven’t gotten around to doing.
  • No key for the backbox lock. It’s gold, which I guess is why it was left. I’ve got a spare black one (with a key!) which I’ll include.
  • Cab decals have some marks/dents on the edges due to having been moved, mostly around the head
  • Could do with some new rubbers, I'll redo the flippers before sale
£6100 with the pin2dmd
£6000 with a normal dmd

Holy moly! It's beautiful!
If only i had the monies right now it would be an impulse purchase but deserves better than sitting in a kitchen in an unfinished house.. It's too beautiful!

Good luck with sale, i hope it goes to a good home!

OK few bites but nothing serious so let's do it.

Priiiiiiice deeeeerooooopp.

£6100 with the pin2dmd
£6000 with a normal dmd

Still a tough one - a very good condition one of these is 4K so 2K for the bling tax is steep but a bargain compared to doing one up yourself - GLWS - one of the favourite games for the family in my shed.

This is a Ferrari.

But it’s not - it’s a Ford cougar with bling. It sold for the price of a Ford cougar, the guy could have waited for someone who desperately wanted a Ford cougar with Ferrari bling… someone out there wants that.

In my view your game is a bargain when you look at the total package but if you are looking for the game it’s pricey.

OK firstly, that's a flawed metaphor. A TOM is a TOM no matter how much bling you throw at it. Secondly, it's super unhelpful. Your opinion on the price disparity between a refurbed game vs a non refurbed game is at best meaningless, and at worst sabotaging. The only thing you accomplish by chiming in is scaring away potential buyers and p1ssing me off. And I'm not a guy who p1sses off easily.

It makes me sad Neil because with your contacts and abilities you could truly be seen as a leader of the Uk scene. Instead you choose to snipe on other people threads, break forum rules, and bring down people who have done nothing to you personally.

Is this an example of why the sales thread was [quite rightly imo] reformatted at one point..............?? I think we saw a CV recently sold here where the asking price was at least £6k so no reason imo why a very nice TOM can't achieve this with a keen, monied buyer especially when, as stated previously, the likely cost of assembling a high quality finish TOM will be over £6k unless you stumble on a 'fire sale' somewhere. There are no remakes and by definition all these era pins are in shrinking pools. I've got CV and TOM in my home collection and would have them over quite a lot of newer machine titles even though I could easily pay £10k plus if I wanted too for a NIB game.

🍿, tbh where are you going to buy a mint mint tom? This looks good to me new stern poverty pro is 7k without the toys , nice collectors machine. 5800 for quick sale 6 would be good deal for both.

Question - why would it put anyone off??

Seller knows that they want for it... Buyer knows what they want to pay.

I have to say i have never (In recent years) seen a TOM for 4k. Maybe thats Neil's "mates rates", however in the wild... Nope.

I could pitch up and say "I have a TAF for sale - £12k". That doesnt make it £12k, worth £12k, or make the benchmark £12k.

If it was me, people can make whatever comments they want... Unless they are relavent they would just get ignored.

I'm surprised by this Paul, since we've had this discussion ad nauseum. Are we saying that price speculation on sales posts is allowed now?

Agreed. Open forum and free speech provides natural price regulation.

Anyway, there's very likely a buyer who wants a bling TOM and is willing to pony up for the best available. Here it is and here's the price! Simples!

FFS - Not sure what rules I've broken - seriously wasn't sniping! I made a comment about the price which is allowed.

Precisely what I said.

Neil's just ****ed he sold all his 90s classics for chipped playfields....

Only one! [emoji23] apart from NBAFB I have still got all my 90’s classics none of them are worth 6K though even my blinged out ToM.

I don't follow the logic. If you get a message through eBay stating your prices are too high will you boycott that selling site too?[emoji2957]

Not sure why I have to do this, but let me spell it out to you - Ebay message is a PM, Neil's comments are visible to everyone. Anyone reading his posts would now assume TOM is a 4K game and I'm trying to rip someone off by 2K.

IMHO comments on the price of a machine in its for sale thread are bad etiquette - not against the forum rules, but rude nonetheless. I doubt it has much/any effect on the outcome of the sale though, as most members here are clued up on machine prices anway.

Looks like this machine sold too - 6k sounds like a fair price to me considering the last few TOMs here went around 5-5.5k and weren't as nice.
