Sarge,

The description seems to be cut & pasted from somewhere*, as it mentions a '3-D Bluto head', which as you point out is no longer fitted. And what kind of launch button is that?

Sorry to say so, but I wonder if this may be one of my works' Popeyes. When the advice about the Swee' Pea ramp came along, I heard it as being to remove the two posts altogether, rather than just the sleeves. Plus we did fit the flat plastic instead of the moulded Bluto head, which I recall we had to return to Deith Leisure. Other alterations included tilting the multiball trough to cure stdm kickouts, and finding better screws for fixing the flipper brackets to the playfield, after plugging the holes that the o.e. screws wouldn't hold in any more.

* the flyer, I suppose, since it lists six animals, as discussed in your Popeye info thread

Grizz,

Out of interest, did my Popeye, that went to you, then out to others than back to you and eventually on to The Office have all the "better" options that you mention?

I remember it had the 3D Bluto and the Chrome anchor boat cleats (as it came without those and it took me 2 years and much cost to find some) and was a bit faded but not too bad, But what about the other bits you describe?

Some observations on this Popeye from the forums resident self proclaimed Popeye aficionado .... me :D

Cab is faded to f*** - no red left from what I can see.

The Swee Pea ramp area on the upper playfield is missing the crucial posts , and also seems to be missing the metal lane dividers that sit behind it. This is bad. The absence of these makes the whole feature impossible to play as intended and turns it into a switch hit lottery. Those lane dividers are known to break off - and need rewelding. Good luck finding some.

The boat cleats on the apron are missing , mounting holes covered with blue tape. These are unobtainium, you might find some model boat replacements that are close.

The lower right GI seems to be out.

It has the crappier flat Bluto head.

It has the more uncommon but uglier metal feed ramp top left.

It has a credit dot showing. Could be something simple. Or not.

Pretty sure i played this at Doug Morrisons before he sold it on. I have had a couple of Popeye pinballs in the past and they have been pretty good fun. A much better game than given credit for but if this is the same example it played like a wet weekend in ..........Glasgow !

What a shame about that skateball. The playfield looks to be in good shape. The underside isn't showing much corrosion. The wiring loom has been cut though.

Dunno whether anyone needs it, but would be very useful to someone with a shagged out, rusted to f@@@ skateball or similar that they have been sat on for years. I looked at one yonks ago in that state but I walked away as it was so far gone and storage is always an issue
