* Notes

  • 8bitflip counts as one event for UK Championship Series purposes; your result will be the aggregate of your performance in The Big Flip (main competition), The Pinball News PinGolf tournament and the Northern Classics (side competitions). Side competitions count for 50% of the points value of the main competition
  • Each of the three tournaments at 8bitflip will be treated independently for WPPR points purposes
  • 8bitflip will take place at the Lostock Sports & Social Club, Works Lane, Northwich, CW9 7NW on 4th and 5th April 2015

I'm doing my best to see if I can make it to this. I was just checking the rates for the local Travelodge, Northwich Lostock Gralam Hotel, as suggested earlier in the thread. This is the one close by, only 0.9 miles away, but the rates for a Double Room are:

Flexible rate
(Cancel up until noon on the date of arrival) £75.00

Saver rate
(Non-refundable) £70.00

But the next nearest one, Knutsford M6 Hotel, 3.9 miles away is much cheaper (Double Room):

Flexible rate
(Cancel up until noon on the date of arrival) £44.00

Saver rate
(Non-refundable) £29.00

Sorry if I've missed this earlier, but I couldn't find any information regarding opening times each day? Also, if I can make it, would you be interested if I bring my Bally VECTOR?

Your Bally Vector will be most welcome. And will get you free entry for the weekend (1 person).
Also we are sorting a deal out with the venue that they will put on full English breakfast for a fair price thus the venue will be open early from around 8am.
This will allow people to meet up early for breakfast at the venue and be ready for the competition after being fully fed and watered.

The cheaper rates may be due to it being literally on the Knutsford M6 Services. Not sure how good their soundproofing is, but that might put some people off.

On the plus side it's only about 5 mins further away from the venue by car, 99% of which additional distance is straight down the 60mph A556 between Knutsford and Northwich.

I sleep like the dead. Wouldn't bother me. I've got 2 kids - motorway traffic is blissful silence by comparison :)

Thanks, @replicas. Will do my best to sort out a yay or nay as soon as possible to help with your game planning.

What time is the event open each day?
If bringing a pin, can we arrive from 8am onwards on Saturday for unloading (you must be doing most of the preparation on Friday)?

Saturday arrival at 8am will be fine.
As I said the venue will be open from 8am for breakfast and games turned on around 9am.

Is there a list of games that will be there sorry if I have missed it somewhere

We've just 12 places now remaining for The Big Flip tournament on Saturday 4th April at the 8bitflip show in Northwich, Cheshire;

This tournament has been designed to give a fair chance to all entrants; everybody will play at least two "best of five" rounds; and in Round 2 the first round winners will be separated from the first round losers who will have a minimum 50% chance of progressing to round 3.

The games played will be randomly selected from almost all the 50 or so pinball machines at the show so no need to worry that you need to have lots of specialist knowledge or skill on the latest games in order to have fun and enjoy the tournament

The cost is just £5 (plus your show ticket) and entries (and full tournament details) are available now at: http://www.8bitflip.co.uk/competitions/index.html

Question David, if all the tables are eligible for the tournament, does that mean they are not available to non tournament attendees whilst it is going on?

Not to sure as yet but as soon as I know will get in touch.
Did you get my mail about lockdown ?
Hi Daz,

Any news on the get in time for Friday for setup yet, as I go on hol the end of this week so would be handy to know ?

Cheers Kev

Very sad as I won't be able to make 8bitflip :( I was doing my best to get GOLD BALL finished so it could come along too but due to unforeseen family circumstances (read exciting weekend of Bank Holiday DIY) means I can't. Looked really good too...

And Heighway has announced that they'll be announcing something for the August 21st weekend which I'll miss too as I'm back from summer hols that day.

Right! That's it! When is Northern Lights? Weekend of October 10-11th? Pretty sure that's it. So says the the Win A Pin promo. I'm blocking out that entire weekend now. Will book Friday and Monday off work too.

I can't make it either left it to long now I can't afford it :0( can only really make 1 event a year so maybe pinball party or whatever it's called

Don't think I'm going to able to make this either. :( My partner is away at a family wedding over Easter, so no transport to get to it easily.

If anyone is heading to this event and is passing Kettering and has room, I would be interested in a lift. Happy to share fuel costs ect.
