Today I worked on......

2025-06-02 22.27.12.webp
Today I've been wiring up the USS Kelvin to go into my Star Trek Prem.

I am a little anxious about wiring into the GI. It seems very sensitive to input voltage even through my LM323K replacement. Playing with resistors to adjust brightness is OK on the bench, but I don't know what I might need in the machine.

Upgraded speakers and added the expression lights to Star Wars. Looks great in-game with different effects for all the gameplay phases. Sounds better with proper speakers too - can you imagine this LE came stock with the crap 4" speakers 🤦‍♂️

Many thanks to @Silverpaolo @new forest pinball and @David retro for supplying the various bits!

Next job will be a full strip & clean, re-rubber plus mirror blades in preparation for her Swavesey outing :)

So yesterday my wife and 2 grown up sons and I finally finished “Pinshed” (Pat. Pending)!
My wife wasn’t too excited having pins around the house so this was the solution.

Turned out pretty good, well insulated with a heater, fan and dehumidifier.

At least when my sons come over for a bbq or a pin session we have somewhere to play!

Anyone built anything solely to house pins?

Have a great day pinheads!

Dave
Hi Dave, love what you’ve done there.

Yes I’ve bought a fully insulated shed 28’x10’ with a partition to make 2 separate rooms which will be installed this summer. Need to sell and dismantle the old shed which is there at the moment. Only question is which side do I put the pins in? The 15’ or the 13’ section? 🤔

Separate?! You just fill it with pins, problem solved 👌

Yes. Got fed up having three in the garage along with a car and all the detritus that accumulates there so had a shed built. Two parts to it, one for working machines, side room for working on them. Wifi, heating, telly and a comfy chair, I virtually live in it.IMG_1702.webpIMG_1703.webpIMG_1701.webpIMG_1704.webp

Agreed, I've got the expression lights (and upgraded speakers, mirror blades) in mine too. A bit pricey, but it's a one-off purchase and I'll either add them to the price when I sell the Pin, or take them off and use in another Pin.

Clear rubbers look great on Star Wars, got them on mine.

I'm excited to play it at Swavesey. It's in my top 5 of modern sterns, I really like the gameplay and theme integration.

So I decided today to tackle something on baywatch. The subway worked fine but was missing the bottom tab so was paranoid. I know the kids like 3d printing everything but I went old school.
2.5mm 316 stainless. I didn't polish it up yet as I might weld some side bars on. Only question is is it enough and welding side bars is massively over thinking it?

IMHO should be plenty enough as is.
