Today I worked on......

Not quite worked on but I've spent the night in Bip Bip bar in Copenhagen. A few pins on play. Shadow, Dr dude, Taxi, Whitewater and Funhouse.
A few arcades too.
Dr dude was the best of the bunch with the rest having just a few issues.
A good night and even the wife was having fun.

Ghostbusters Speaker upgrade and light mod
Well after finishing my Slime protectors I thought I’d carry on and do the only other job I had lined up for it and that was a speaker upgrade using the same type Stern fitted to my DPLE.
Let’s face it the £2 Chinese ****e they have fitted is embarrassing considering my GB is LE flavour too!
I sourced the speakers for £30 a set and knocked up some spacers using acrylic and after several prototypes and literally several hrs today came up with this.
I am really happy with the outcome but considering changing the design for the spoke one in the last pic. I also tried them in red and considered green to continue on the Slime theme so things may change yet.
The reason I have gone for blue is to maybe hook up LEDs to my topper so they flash when the topper does but I’ll post in tech forum 1st to see if anyone has done similar with a PF mod or the likes as I’m not even sure this will be possible.

Out of interest which grill design do you guys prefer as I said I’m now leaning to the spoke one.

Not today but a few weeks ago - floor of pin room 2 finished and time to move pins in.

BTDK in and space alongside it reserved for IM, TWD, CFTBL and AFM. Will have to squeeze POTC in somewhere else.

Very nice finish, bet it’s rock hard. Putting some new playfields to shame!

Fitted my CV Ringmaster protector kit, was expecting to have to put a shim under the new plastic plate and adjust the Ringmaster but everything lined up perfectly without anything adjusted. Just how I like it, few minutes and done!
Was in pretty good condition anyway but peace of mind now.

Fitting a playfield protector on my FT. Loads of bits to remove, clean etc.
Left lane would not sit flat as too wide so rather than try to trim I raised the metal lane side and slid it underneath so fits very well and nice and flat. I can also clamp it down here.
Was on and off about 6 times before I removed the protection underneath otherwise I think it would have been scratched.
Also got a pair of new flipper mechs to fit and lightning flippers when they turn up.
Going to fit warm white LED’s in the gi while it’s all off as I’ve done the rest already. Plus rubbers etc.

Fitted coloured inserts to my GB, that was my only criticism of the playfield, too much white, not anymore, simply gorgeous 😀

GI LED’s turned up today after ordering Monday so could start putting back together. Fitted a new pair of flipper mechs and lightning flippers.
Just got to fit a slingshot rod as the plastic end has been broken for years, still worked somehow.
Playfield protector looks good apart from upper left lane coverage is a bit narrow for my liking but will do.
Will hopefully have it running in the morning, time for a beer now!

Lightning flipper ...does that mean lower scores :)
For sure, if I don’t swop to them I will ever be able to compare my scores.
Going to have to do the same for BSD and it’s hard enough already😫
I always said I wouldn’t do it but I need to know how bad I am☺️

Your scores look really good so no worries there.

Some BM66 & GOTG love with LE esk Speaker Logo’s and grills

I had a look at my Batman66 mods box today and after checking out the speaker kit decided to make my own logos as not only did they look they had been made with a CNC machine (chipped here & there) they were also quite scuffed even though they are new & unused.
I’ve made them a little more curvy and reduced the fasteners to M3 bolts so they are less intrusive, these I’ve sourced unbranded so no lettering is shown on the bolts when fitted.
ive also selected a little brighter orange and a nicer gloss black as the materials.
All in all I’m quite happy with the outcome of the prototype but may alter slightly to give them a little chunkier by making them a little wider vertically.

After I’ve finished my GOTG speakers I’ll do some BM66 LE esk ones to go with the logos.
Any interest in these just PM me

Today I’ve finally finished working on machines until next year but at least have 3 gorgeous machines to play.
TWD is the most addictive machine I’ve ever played, GB is the most fun and one of the best looking and sounding pins, Baywatch is pure rampfest and love it, and it says something that it’s in a lineup with 2 modern machines and still holds its own.
I hope the government legalises pinball next year so we can get our fix cheaper 😂😂😂

Fit a CPR mirror translite (thanks @philpalmer) to my TZ. Looks awesome, if a little on the blue side, which I actually like.

Need to sort a bit of light bleed around the backbox, any ideas?

Also if anyone gets these - buy System 11 trims. They fit like a glove, no heating up or anything needed.

On to TAF!

TAF done. If anything TAF looks better than the TZ one, in terms of the difference to NOS.

Like the TZ one the colour profile is on the cold side. The mansion is noticeably blue. Again, I like this.

Your bleed is from between the trim and backbox so I would try putting something inside the trim slot so the glass doesn’t push in as much.
My original trims fit snug against the wood, my bit of light bleed is from the glass as the trim doesn’t quite reach the printed area by about 1mm. I’m just going to mask either side and black marker pen it on the glass but at the moment it’s not that bad enough to bother me.
Pictures don’t do them justice, need to be seen in the flesh as it looks much better.

Polished a few bits today and last week I sanded and painted these 3 sets of legs.
A set for my Elvira EATPM, my Alien Poker which I've not yet played (!) and a set for my WPC project.

Some parts arrived from Pinball Heaven - Stealth Leg Protectors (I do like these!) some new feet and some plastics.

Polished up some EM head bolts for my Williams Touchdown, which you'll never see but I had the polisher out so I might as well do! How well did these come out?

Blimey!

Looks great! What polisher are you using?

👍
It's an ancient bench polisher that I grabbed from a car boot sale a few years back.
It came with a wire brush either side. I replaced the one wire brush with a sisal 6" x 1/2" mop with polished with black polishing compound.
