The 2023 Festive Pinball Gathering 8-10 Dec 23

Hi @Moonraker can you remove me from all 3 days as I'm not going to be able to make it now.

Been struggling with a virus for the past few days and it's still not clearing up so had to make a decision as don't want to spread anything around and it's taken all my energy away.

Really disappointed as was my first visit to SWL but hopefully will make it there for the next big event.

Anyone with cars, please avoid parking in Loyal Trade Business Park - I suggest you park round the corner in Smeaton Road.

Massive thanks to Nick, Ed and Alan who helped pack up 6 machines and set up another 6 machines in a couple of hours last night in preparation for today.

Also thanks to Neil for the last minute loan of quicksilver and to keef and Jack for being quicksilver and taking it away again!

Looking forward to another excellent day of pinball with a top crowd.

Oi Jacko Burdoni what you doing posting comments on t’forum?….😀 @NewForestPinballJr
Echo Jacks comments. Really pleased for Peter and Hillary too. Great to see so many at the club from near and far, and of various skill and experience levels.
Loved the hired posh bathrooms 🚽.
We all had a fabulous time yesterday. (Oh if your wondering why my classics performance was below par it’s because I cut my flipper finger with a screwdriver and it bloomin hurt! (Honest))😉
What was good , many stayed to cheer on the classics finalists, the atmosphere was electric......
See you all around... thanks again Peter and all who helped out.
All my best wishes to you all... Keef...👊🏼

Thanks again for a wonderful weekend of pinball, thoroughly enjoyed myself despite some inconsistent play at best! You know you've not played too well when the highlight was winning something in the raffle...

Good turnout as always with a great atmosphere, as much as the pinball is fun it's the people that keep me coming back so roll on more events that I'll try and attend in 2024!

Thank you for a fantastic weekend as always 🥰

Thanks to Pete for running the tournaments and hosting and to all those that helped out behind the scenes.

Big thanks to Hilary and Moira for the lovely food laid on.

Loved the posh loos!

Congratulations to all the winners 🏆

Always something ‘special’ about this festive pinball weekend ❤️❤️

Great to meet up and socialise with everyone too.

Our huge thanks once again.

Di & Clive

Huge thanks to @Moonraker and the whole SWL team for putting on an amazing weekend of competitive pinball.
Always enjoy these gatherings. Thought the multiple machines per rounds worked very nicely too which helped keep things to time.
Was great to have the opportunity to play along side the 2nd ranked player in the uk @roadshow16 (craig pullen) in mains and also @robotgreg in classics.

Brilliant weekend, just got home. Massive thanks to @Moonraker , Hilary and Moira for running a superb series of tourneys, and looking after us all.
It has been a great weekend of pinball, fun, and meeting up with friends. It was so nice to have such a large crowd in the pub after Saturday's Classics, chatting away, arranging future meet ups etc. Brilliant group of people that I feel very lucky to be a part of.

Really great pinball and social event. Was really nice to get to spend proper time with people over the weekend. Inside and out of the pinball itself.

Thanks to Pete and Hillary and all involved with the setup and running. I go to a lot of tournaments and this weekend (outside of my headache yesterday - sorry everyone for being less than affable) was one of my favs for sure.

You can’t go wrong with a SWL festive gathering always very well run and attended too hopefully @Jackpot and his family will attend next year after pulling out this time round.

Wonderful event. Fantastic people. As I said to Peter over the weekend, it's a true testament to him and his family that he has managed to keep SWL going all of these years. It's an awesome club and this was the best attended and overall just best Festive Gathering that I can remember. Well done to Peter, Luke and Greg on the wins 💥, it was a real treat for me to come back to SWL after many years away, hopefully it won't be such a long time until the next one

Got to echo Craig's comments above and Jack's from earlier - great to see so many people at SWL for the best attended event. Furthemore, like Craig said that the club has been going for since 2009 and at times has struggled with some very low attendances on a Friday night but hopefully with Fridays also being much busier and great events like this, SWL will only go from strength to strength. Huge thanks to Peter and Hilary for all their work and support to keep the club going as my Friday night would not be the same without it and for a fantastic weekend.

Was delighted to win yesterday and huge congratulaitons to Pete Bennett in second and also to Craig and Josh and Luke for winning (and retaining) the Classics and Peter for winning Pin Golf.

Cheers
Greg

Just to add my thanks to Peter, Hilary, and everyone else involved with running this superb weekend. I also thought that the format, as used at PBR the previous weekend, of having 2 or 3 games in the one round with the same group really works well with playing more pinball and less waiting around.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 days of it - particularly the classics with some great machines, several of which I'd never seen before, never mind played.

It's always a great event for the pinball, particularly getting to see some amazing players showing how it should be done, and really appreciate how they are happy to share tips and tactics for many of the less common machines (Craig, Rich, Josh et al) - I always learn a lot at SWL.

Well done to all the winners, and it was good to see Greg back on form yesterday, but particular congratulations to Pete Bennett for a great display to take 2nd place up against 3 of the top players in the country, and show that multiball has a place in Dr Who - it's not just all about loops! 😂

It was very entertaining watching the finals, but the best part has to be the socialising - meeting up with a great bunch of people, enjoying a shared passion, and quite a few beers afterwards on the Friday and Saturday.

Already looking forward to next year! 👍
