Paging anybody with more electrical knowledge than me, which is probably everybody reading this.....
OK, so thought it would be easy enough to replace a 4ohm 5 1/4" speaker. Question is what's this blue thing and is it required?

the speaker isn't dead because it's disconnected, it really is dead. Proved by attaching another speaker which worked but degraded the sound - possibly as it was rated at 6ohm instead of 4. Other side already been replaced prior to me getting it.
Bally used 4 ohm speakers right?
