Paging anybody with more electrical knowledge than me, which is probably everybody reading this.....
OK, so thought it would be easy enough to replace a 4ohm 5 1/4" speaker. Question is what's this blue thing and is it required?
Note to smart ****s the speaker isn't dead because it's disconnected, it really is dead.  Proved by attaching another speaker which worked but degraded the sound - possibly as it was rated at 6ohm instead of 4. Other side already been replaced prior to me getting it.
