Project DELTA - Pin area - Yet another extension on the house!

Waheyyy!

Got our architect starting drawings in just over a month... Watching with great interest.

day two progress - some pretty deep trenches being dug out. another day should get them all finished and then a visit from the building regs inspector.

steel works is on order and being cut and fabricated.

the existing sun room is coming down so i’ve stripped out as much as i can. needs plumber and electrician to sort the radiators and the 13a sockets. i’ve managed to switch off and take out the lighting circuit

Looking good, but it will never be big enough no matter how big you build it.
starting to think about maybe adding an underground cellar room............

The building inspectors visit didnt go to plan, he decided that we need to go 2m deep for some parts of the foundation, due to a nearby conifer hedge. Crazy, but he wouldnt change his mind. grrr.. first cost overrun....

so digging needs to continue. 2m down. at least the building inspector has agreed we can step it down, so it’s not the whole run

the existing sun room has been stripped out. floor all gone radiators disconnected and removed. 13a ring main disconnected. but i’ve left one double socked live so the builders have some power.

tomorrow will be more diggiing out. so we’ve delayed the concrete until monday.

rain playing havoc. no work on friday. the nice neat foundation trenches have been battered by the heavy rain. a few cave-ins. looks like a few more days re-work to get them pumped out. cleaned up and finished ready for concrete. more rain scheduled next week though.

Fingers crossed for you Alan- weather sucks when building although at this time of year you’d think it should be safe to do this sort of work!

this pad hole is so much deeper than the existing house foundations that can be clearly seen

Looking good Alan. Very exciting times - mine completed in November last year. There will be wobbles and increases on cost, but as long as the finished product is with it to you, crack on... Good luck!

Looks awesome. Looks huge!! What’s the dimensions?

Looking good Alan

So tempting to do this myself now :hmm:

Go for it Carl, it's our collective responsibility to ensure every pin has a good comfy home. There has been a pin-housing shortage for many years, successive governments have completely ignored the issue, refusing to provide good quality pin-shacks to those in our society who are most in need..... ;-)
