Very good point from Grizz - I have bought quite a few machines over the years, and very often when it is a non enthusiast selling then fail to mention things broken, missing, non original, etc. To be honest I never even mention it when I notice and assume that they just don't know any different, but it is certainly something to be wary of when bidding/buying. For anything major, I always ask very specific questions that even a non-pinhead can understand :)

My favourite reply though, when enquiring about a Funhouse on eBay once which had been stored for a while went like this. I asked "could you check the condition of the batteries in the backbox, and see if they have leaked" and I got the reply "Don't be silly, this runs on mains not batteries!!!"

Still makes me laugh now remembering this, but this guy probably thought HE knew more than ME for me asking such an apparently stupid question.

Manny...pffft. Another guy that likes to stretch the truth. I bought a 'perfect' coin door from him a while ago and when it got to me, it was quite bent.

I literally laugh out loud at most of his auctions these days. This Riverboat flip is no different. Haha.
 
Never dealt with the guy, hopefully I won't get any legal threats, but I thought that looking at his ebay auctions he was/is the dogs dangly things, rhymes with hollocks :) as he offers excellence in his workmanship? But allegedly not :(

His restore work on cabs/games is awesome. I have seen some up close and they are things of beauty.
 
He obviously wants top top dollar for the table. I'm sure i've seen it floating around on eBay for a good few months now.

Dude, you've put up a For Sale thread for this game already so please don't spam this thread as well. It's generally considered good manners to at least introduce yourself if your coming on here to hawk a game!
 
MM. Less than 6k surely? Lovely looking example but will anyone pay more than the remake cost?

WCS, no reserve but £800 starting price. Err, doesn't this mean there is a £800 reserve then:confused:

Hook. No bids yet at £500? Surely worth at least that even with hacked boards etc. IF I hadn't had one already I would be tempted. Even the £800 BIN doesn't seem astronomical.
 
The MM will be pulled from auction as soon as the 12 hour cut off point is reached. Its happened about 3 or 4 times now. That's unless someone want to pay 8K plus for it.

Me? I'd want the original over the remake any day. For that reason, to me, that particular machine is worth a little more than the remake.
 
The fact is that eBay and thus market prices are held up by the few. A lot of the bids on eBay are "bogus", by that I mean people bid with no intention of buying bid what they think something is "worth" which then means that the person who *wants* to buy the machine has to pay a premium, it is in essence a form of shilling. I'm sure I'll be reported to the police for stating this and the pinball price reducing ring will no doubt be outlawed. A lot of the bidding activity on pinball machines on eBay UK is done by two people (both are dealers and both have an interest in maintaining the current high prices).

The MM remake shouldn't affect prices too much over here of MMs but it does seem to have had a knock on effect to the extent that people have got jittery about their "investment". It's been nice to have machine prices increase over the years but in no way should it be taken for granted - my personal opinion is that the peak has been hit on most games now and prices will reduce 10-20%, but it is just that an opinion and I may be way off base.

Hopefully that will bring an end to the newer people stating things like £1500 for a shabby CFTBL (or any other random machine) is a "bargain", these machines are by no way bargains nor are they investments, they are meant to be played for fun and historically have been fairly cheap.
