Yep. Never been a better time to sell pinball machines ...so much demand. Describe it fairly,price it right and it will be gone in hours. Overprice it / p*ss about and you will be relisting it forever .

It's not rocket science :rolleyes:

Not always the case though. In my experience, fully working cheaper machines sell quick. Higher-end or those with issues to address, less so. Soon as you use or mention Ebay though, it all changes.

Think if you've got a popular Bally/WMS and it's priced right then it will be snapped up. Not as certain about the newer machines. Both AC/DCs were good prices in many ways. Low plays and a grand cheaper than you could buy a new one. Neither seemed to cause a feeding frenzy (might be wrong on this). I've been tempted with both but 5k is still a **** load of cash to find :eek: so sadly I decided to bide my time and hope for prices to continue to fall.

Similar story with the WOZ machines. Not bad prices compared to NIB but presumably still too high for many to consider bidding on. I assume people who loved the theme have already bought one add the next tier down are willing to pay a lot less for it. (Not having a go at WOZ here, just a comment about how people value themes/machines differently. I'd expect to see the same for any theme eg the new Star Trek. RS/FT would have to be under 1k for me to want one due to the themes, others would obviously value it far higher)

Discovered this morning that it was 6 years ago since I bought my first machine. At the time ebay was the only place I knew for info and sales. Now as well as having more punters after machines I think the sales channels are more established so more people are aware of potential sales.
 
The 1k drop in price on the AC/DC came as a bit of a shock to me, bang goes my theory of buying a NIB then selling it a year later to fund the next NIB purchase.
Maybe the machine would be valued higher if you could no longer purchase it new? This has indicated to me that if I go the NIB route, it will have to be a keeper.

I was also tempted with the AC/DC's on sale, but I've yet to be won over by Stern enough to justify that kind of price.

Ac/dc is a good game, but the theme I think puts a lot of people off. The hoarde of 30 somethings buying pins right now may not give an ageing band any love at all and at 5K+, that's a car purchase for most.

Late model Sterns are expensive and it doesn't take a genius to realise more pins/fun can be had for the money if you buy the equally fun Bally/Williams games of old. Imo, trading expensive Sterns is the way to go. You can trade a number of machines for several pins or pins plus cash and people are generally happy to do that.

no no, i didn't mean to insinuate that. i'm sure it's all legit, just that the bidders' identities are all withheld.
i mis-wrote it. he seems a genuine enough chap, i think he's as bemused as the rest of us at all the interest.

Hmmm. Looks like some shilling went on that snared a couple of genuine bidders. Lets see if it pops back up for sale soon.

Im actually looking for a WCS but because hes supplied no decent pictures and lives the other end of the country its a non starter.

I wonder if he realises the backglass should be lit up.

Unless its a real pinhead selling a game ...and you can always tell from the wording/description/pics.... then its almost par for the course, see so many pics of games with some GI missing.

For a non pinhead sale I will ALWAYS assume there will be numerous minor issues. Often this is because the owner genuinely doesn't really understand the machine/gameplay fully.To many its a big toy that gets some casual play, as long as flippers flip to some extent and a ball appears then its a worker . Switches, lamps, mechanical niggles will all need some attention. Flippers will invariably need rebuilding. It will be filthy dirty on the whole. I have been to see games where they have said 'oh yes I clean it evry day' ...which means they wipe a duster and Mr Sheen over the glass, meanwhile you can barely see the feature lamps for the dirt on the playfield :rolleyes:
