This following message is an opinion and NOTnecessarilly the thoughts and beliefs of the site and/or it's owners....

There have been, in the past, strong allegations from multipe people of Shill bidding on their machines on Ebay, and also that the machines are not in the condition they are reported to be. I personally have no knowledge or experience of this, so this may well be hearsay or sour grapes...

Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware).

Right Who has just bought a Fathom Manuel off ebay, or who has just sold one.

Reason I ask is that I have just got one through the post this morning and have no clue where its come from.

I can remember one on the bay last week so I think the seller has somehow got the address mixed up, god knows how but things like that do happen.

If its yours or if you sold it get in touch and I will get it off to you.

We'll buy your full collection off you.. Please private message us your telephone contact number.

Thank you

Where were you with your millions last week when they were listed?

Jonathan, Jonathan..

Not that I need to give you a break down on the goings on.. But as you seem to have some sort of chip on your shoulder/bitter/jealous stance I'll explain.

1. Last week when the tables were listed we felt that we had spent enough on stock the week before. :-)

2. We also contacted the seller via ebay. Is that ok with you?

3. We find it's more fun & adds to the ebay buzz bidding when the item(s) have a few hours to go. I assume you do not?

4. The seller DID NOT have photos of the tables on ebay when they were listed last week.

5. Happy?

6. As & when you're in Blackpool.. Give me a call. Tea or coffee? Juice? Coke? Dr. Pepper?

Remind me which ebay account you are using these days? I lost count after the first 3 filled up with negative feedback?

Again.. As & when ebay see an issue I'm sure they will be the FIRST to send out an email. Until then, Jonathan STOP worrying

I can only assume you're single?

Only child?

Jobless/bored?

Call me, PLEASE!

Loving the main photo they have used. At what point did they sit down look at the photos and think ...yep ...thats the one, thats the one picture that does justice to this beautiful machine. Start price £900 .....good luck with that too

So fussy.....please refer to picture 3. If you care to rotate your head by 90 degrees, adjust your monitor contrast to help with the camera's flash reflecting off the glass, allow consideration of the fact that the picture was taken in near darkness so the camera has defaulted to a 4 figure ISO number, giving an atmospheric and arty graininess, you can be almost certain that it is, indeed, a pinball machine.

TAF with some big wear spots on the pf, broken plastics and cabinet scratched to ****.... Up to 2450 so far!

I am a noob but the pictures really didn't do it justice. I went to see it whilst it was still at £1400 and it was all round a very clean machine. One side was scratched but the other looked pretty good under the room lights. As soon as I arrived they told me that someone had bid up to £2450, so I enjoyed a chat, a cup of tea and a few games before leaving empty handed. The guy went back with £2.5k today and they took the machine off ebay other wise I might have been tempted.

It was the best one I have seen so far, I can't find one for less that £2k down south. Crazy money.

I was also going to have a look at this TAF in Rushden today, as it was fairly close to me and I've been thinking about getting one of these for my collection.

As soon as the bidding got up to £2450 I cancelled the visit as I didn't think it was worth that kind of money with the amount of playfield wear and a scratched cabinet.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for the seller) there always seems to be someone somewhere who is willing to pay whatever it takes for certain titles in any condition, I think the TAF is high up on the noobs want list nudging the price of this title way above what we on here would class as value for money, ignorance is bliss until you get clued up and realise you have paid £2500+ for a machine with insert wear, chair hole wear, burnt connectors etc etc JMHO.

Is this a sneaky little price post on the QT;)

I am a noob but have been into pinball for as long as I remember and lost a lot of time 12 years ago playing a TAF. I obviously don't know about all the things to look for so could certainly have missed a lot but I do a lot of research and have found this forum a real help. I have also been talking to a few people who rent machines out to find what are the long term abuse issues. All are saying the same thing, prices are getting too high.

The owners in Rushden were just amazed at what was going on, if they had let it run I wonder if it had gone higher.

So where do I find an honest machine for under £2k or do they just not exist anymore?

You have come to the right place (for info at least) not sure about the honest sub 2k TAF though  (a rare beast nowadays), my advice to any noob considering a machine is this.......... post on here for advice with regards to the main issues on the title you are interested in (basically the things to watch out for on that particular pin, most games have specific wear points or common issues), machines which have managed to bypass those flaws are the ones to keep an eye out for if you are after a nice example playfield wise'. With regards to price, I would not advise posting such things as "what's a ***** worth" as that is taboo
smile-1.png
and best left on the UK pinball group, this is a great place to request info on any machine and even request a specific machine in the "for sale" section, or "wanted".

I think you will search long and hard for a really nice TAF with no chair, insert or cab damage these days sub 2k but sometimes people do get lucky, a member snared a mint TAFG recently for what some people would pay for a ropey std machine so anything is possible

Staying on-thread, is the regular listing of USA prices on eBay also pushing up peoples expectations? There is currently one with the buy it now for over £5600 before you even consider how much it will cost to be brought to the UK. Is the USA market suffering even higher prices? The eBay lets anyone who is internet aware sell to the person who is willing to pay the highest price. There is now profit for people to buy up machines they find cheap and sell them as a business, I cant attack that as we all need to do something to make money.

I am going to start another thread so we can discuss it further there and leave this to eBay auctions
