I am a noob but have been into pinball for as long as I remember and lost a lot of time 12 years ago playing a TAF. I obviously don't know about all the things to look for so could certainly have missed a lot but I do a lot of research and have found this forum a real help. I have also been talking to a few people who rent machines out to find what are the long term abuse issues. All are saying the same thing, prices are getting too high.

The owners in Rushden were just amazed at what was going on, if they had let it run I wonder if it had gone higher.

So where do I find an honest machine for under £2k or do they just not exist anymore?

TAF is the pin that has gone mental recently. I am not even looking for one anymore but occasionally one comes up on ebay on BIN but you have to be quick. A good one goes in under 5 minutes!

Staying on-thread, is the regular listing of USA prices on eBay also pushing up peoples expectations? There is currently one with the buy it now for over £5600 before you even consider how much it will cost to be brought to the UK. Is the USA market suffering even higher prices? The eBay lets anyone who is internet aware sell to the person who is willing to pay the highest price. There is now profit for people to buy up machines they find cheap and sell them as a business, I cant attack that as we all need to do something to make money.

I am going to start another thread so we can discuss it further there and leave this to eBay auctions

.

I think the MM on ebay recently with a ridiculous 9k price tag illustrates that potential buyers within the UK are not that gullible to pay completely obscene BIN prices regardless of what happens on other parts of the planet, after numerous attempts it sold for £5700 so I think people from all countries can ask inflated prices as much as they want, there is a limit to what people will pay for any machine, the ones that make their machines available at silly prices only end up relisting on ebay, month after month until they get a reality check. I have seen listings in the past with sellers trying to push up the value of their machines with statements like “one recently sold for 5k†or “there is one in the US for 20k†etc etc, the thing they forget to mention is that the one in question was a collector quality refurbished example with warranty or the simple fact that no one is buying the 20k one either at that silly price.

From my trading experience within this hobby I would say that people in the UK will pay what they pay, they will not be instantly influenced by what’s happening across the pond as the financial system is different from country to country, (minimum wage etc) which effects disposable income and finally what people are willing to throw at a machine although pricing trends on machines are universal to a degree so we are influenced like it on not  (even I'm confused now). I think the UK is pretty much on it’s knees and the fact that certain machines are commanding high prices goes against the trends of most other non essential goods.

I think noobs are unfortunate as they have to pay inflated prices for sub standard machines

, the cream is already in collector’s hands and although they are released now and again they command a hefty price tag when they do.

I was going to take a look at that one today but a simple service on my car ended up in a none runner so I had to skip it whilst I sorted out the problem.

I wasn't going to buy it as I sourced one yesterday, because it was local I thought I could have got a game in
wink-1.png
. It is being sold by a middle company who help people sell stuff and take 1/3 of the selling price. If all they do is then pop it on eBay, that is a real scam, now the price is stupidly high too especially as it has a none working flipper.

I saw that one both before and after, really can't understand them taking it off and more than doubling the starting price. I also don't get how it is in full working order but also has a faulty flipper!

The world has gone mad.

A Last Action Hero for £820.00 WTF !

Someone is in for a disappointing time.

Is it a crap game then? was looking at it but thought the price was too much, nearly bought the fish tales that was one there for £995 but missed out as that looks like a fun game.

Everyone to there own, its defo not in my top 100 thats for sure.

Out of the two Fish Tales is a far better game.

But to think not 12 months ago I paid £650 for a FT. Faded cab and no topper (not as faded as the eBay one though!) but a nice playfield with hardly any insert wear. And that was from a dealer!! I don't see almost a grand of FT there.

Its just the crazy times that are upon us.

Pinball prices are daft on some titles its getting like Oz.

Having said that, the crazyness has not yet hit the SS,or EM machines as yet.

Well people you now know what to do, to save a little money and still own a pinball go for the older titles. I know they are not everyones taste but there are some cracking titles amongst them.

D.

Bad Cats is back up at £ 1295 , after selling for £1k at the end of April.

Sure messes up the stats on machines sold, Makes you think its worth the £1k when everyone knows its not.

Yep ...that seller/dealer is a bullsh*tter. So many of his 'finished' auctions are relisted its a joke. He also deals in overpriced gig tickets. Avoid.

I defo wont' be buying anything off that seller.

The worlds gone mad , a Bad Cats being advertised for £1.3k Do people actually know how **** this machine really is?

Its crap ! Worth around £350 and that's for parts only ,cause the game play sucks.

Yes I am with you on that one, Its been a while since a wh20 has sold and would have been interesting to see what it made.

Great machine with a higher price tag than most people would give it.

They never finish!

A faded FT just went for nearly £1300 so guessing WH20 would go for more.

WH20 is a game that for me has got better the longer I have had it. That is very rare as I am still in the buy one, sell one, get another one, rinse, repeat stage:)

I have maintained for years that the WH2O is worth more than people think, got into a headlock with the searg on the topic when I started posting on the group couple of years back, it is now very apparent how rare and sought after this machine has become, one minute it was entry level DMD always on ebay (bit like a DM or JD), now they always go awol and there is a large waiting list of buyers ready to pounce, glad I got madman’s when I did as a nice one these days will go in a flash or even a ropey one for that matter, top game though, one of my favs for sure.

I thought it was gonna make about £750-800, that collector mint restored (stunner) on ebay about 16 months ago made £1800 and someone on the group thought it was outrageous money for an alpha, (I thought it was a bargain myself) wonder what he would make of the ropey 1k specimen undefined

Great game, but rare? Nothing like it in my experience, I'd say it's probably one of the top 5 common DMDs on my pinball travels.

Oh dear god ......could have had a mint one from Dave the Taxman for that and had change for a bag of chips.

This has to be another new owner throwing about crazy money to get a game. Nobody who has been on the pin scene for any length of time would pay that much for a very, very average Getaway

Or shilled and we'll see it again soon

Holy **** Sticks! That is one heck of a price for that.

I believe not in this case. Was purchased by the guy that was on here looking for one of these recently. I don't want to **** on anyone's chips but......WOW. That's a lot of bread.

I just sold mine to a fellow forum member 2 weeks ago for nearly half that.

I like to buy and sell my machines to other group/forum members if possible and at more sensible prices. And I know that a lot of other people on here do too, which is great. But I think we all have to admit that, unless you are super-loaded, it's getting harder to ignore these crazy eBay prices and selling machines on there instead is getting more tempting.
