Are the prices finally dropping

It seems to me prices at all levels except EMs have dropped since last November - not so much the asking prices from some of the more optimistic sellers, but the actual sold prices. I've been a little surprised at one or two quite nice looking pins that haven't managed to attract a single bid.

I just assumed it was a seasonal thing, i.e. too close to Christmas and then a post-Christmas slump.

I would assume that people are liquidating assets to get access to cash and hence debt. Ie we are now fully in economic recovery (apart from the government) and people don't want assets, they want bling.

I might be talking bollox but it appears to be happening all over. Classic cars are a good example.

Checked out that Jungle Lord. He's updated the pics now and upped the price.
Playfield was heavily cracked, wear on the top playfield
Left flipper sticking
Both flippers weak
Parts missing from drop target
Displays flickering, took a while to work - just an orange glow at first

99p start will determine what people are prepared to pay.
So if you want to sell a machine start it at 99p.
The people who have the highly priced machines on the bay are just saying thats what "they" think there machines are worth.

Thing is we know different.

At least there's a "make offer" option to give any interested parties an angle, the ones with auction start values that are way beyond what any auction would reach in a last minute frenzy are the ones that make me wonder why people are just wasting their time taking pictures and creating a listing, maybe they just want to advertise their collection but have no real intention of parting with anything, maybe it's a fetish thing

I get the feeling that the SM is taking a hit as it has been shaded by a barrage of newer decent Sterns, JMHO, LOTR & TSPP will no doubt suffer a similar fate.

Agree - as I mentioned somewhere else the aging theme doesn't help. Yes its Spiderman, but themed on so so film trilogy that is fading fast in popular memory.

Looks like the seller is an operator and the machines had a hard life though. I presume that'd drag the price people were willing to pay down significantly vs a HUO machine?

Yup, I would still expect to pay 3.5k for a minter but at least punters know that they can get a SM for 2.5k if they are not after a HUO.

That is interesting, I likes playing SM and £2.5k is a self imposed limit based on what I could trade. Would I be prepared to say goodbye to TAF or CFTBL for one is another question. IJ needs finishing and it was bought for the Wife so not technically mine. ;)

Even though I own a SM I'm glad to see the value going down. I think at the moment we've got lots of good new machines coming out and for once maybe supply is starting to outstrip demand so the prices are dropping. I think the whole MM remake has also scared people off the more expensive titles. There seem to be lots of machines on the bay that simply attract no bids. The daft BIN prices are also not even attracting offers. Wonder if we'll see the normal post show price hike or are we on a downward slope. Spidey and LOTR are surely both sub 3k machines. Wonder what a 2nd hand metallica would now go for? 3.5?

I'd happily pay £3-3.5k for excellent condition versions of both Spidey and LOTR - they're both brilliant :-)

i don't especially like the game, but a 2nd hand MET is still basically new and seems to have gone down ok, so surely 4.5 is nearer? i dunno. it seems that a 2nd hand ACDC can't find 4500 easily, and that is waay more popular. how much is a Tron?

if the AA-listers-and-last-few-years titles 2nd hand market has taken a hit, then i'm sorry to those guys who recently went NIB or shelled out 6K for MM, but the rest of us are all celebrating because of it.

MET is 4.5K new with VAT, I'd be surprised if a used one would sell for more than the net price (3.75k).

Wonder when we will see the first 2nd hand ST on the market? Anyone thinking about moving one on yet?

Seeing as ST was made in 1978 I assume at least one's been resold since then :p

What's Paul set as the acronym lookup for the Stern Star Trek then? ST:ID? STID? ST3? SST?
