Yorkshirepuds is a chap called Keith - he was active on the scene some years ago and until recently he had one of the finest collections of MINT machines in the land - ALL the big name games and all in amazing shape. I believe he has sold most of them now and moved on from pinball somewhat.

Thanks for the info, it sounds like they might be the real deal and worth bidding on. I can always try to collect whilst I am there but delivery is not expensive on them.

Well done GrizZ, well remembered. A few messages to Keith and he has gone from 40 to 0 machines. Whilst I am in his home town, he is going away so we wont get to meet but I did secure the plastics so fingers crossed they are as good.

Just goes to show that some people do find a cure for the illness and manage to part with the toys.

I'm pretty much done after WOZ I think. Part of the fun for me was the chase, the only 2 pins I fancy that I haven't owned are MM and AFM and I'm loathed to pay the prices the currently go for. I've used the money from my sold pins to get through my motorbike tests and plan on buying a Harley with it in the next few months.

Summer time always brings thoughts of bikes for me. Sadly, i dont have a license, but i do have a crf250 in my garage just begging me to take it out so it can have a chance at killing me.

As for buying pins, i'm on hold for a while on that. I want to wait and see what the new wave of tech brings as my need for the older pins has diminished somewhat. That doesnt mean i wouldnt jump all over a £50 Wh2o should one pop up in the near future...hehe.

Do the people bidding on the X-Files on the bay actually know how bad a machine it really is ?

I hope so otherwise the are in for a big upset.

£600 at the min. and its already passed its price in my book.

Everyone to the own and maybe there are a few people out there that love this machine, alas I am not one of them and would gladly have it at the front of the Que when I had run out of firewood in the coldest winter on record. O yes I would gladly let this burn while I played titles like Hurricane, Gillian's and many other low titles.

Notic I didn't menthion Popeye, I must be warming to it.

Another Addams breaks the £3k barrier, Overall it was V nice (Dave the Taxman's) but did have nasty damage to the playfield. I wonder what the next one makes ? Get ready for more TAF's coming up for sale. I am pretty sure this price hike will bring more out of the games rooms to be sold.

I got a load of grief off some sad sacks for asking for £5k for my TAFG with zero PF wear, anywhere! Now standard machines with screw holes are going for £3500. I would say the guy who bought mine got a bargain. Can't see him making a loss if he ever decides to sell it

I have only been in this game for three months and I can see some crazy prices. Is there some sort of seasonal effect, coupled with bad weather? :suspect:

TBH the summer months used to be the quieter months for pinball sales, and immediately after Xmas actually ...got a Frankenstein on ebay for 400+ a couple Boxing Days ago

But the pin market has certainly entered a new era. Which as you can tell from all the gnashing of teeth, some of us 'old hands' are having trouble getting to grips with

Despite what people say, the bubble WILL burst. For all pinball is popular now there are still a finite amount of people who want to but a machine. The % of those people who can afford to pay £4k, £5k, £6k is even smaller. With Stern improving again, JJP on the scene now and other smaller companies starting up, not to mention the possibility of remakes going ahead, the butter is going to get spread pretty thinly in the coming years.

If I was to argue the bubble point. There were a lot more of us playing pinball back in the heydays who still haven't bought one yet and yet we are getting older, getting richer and have the space to house one in our houses. Like classic cars, there are dips and peaks but the trend is upwards. I have been playing around with classic Beetles for a while and their owners have transcended from being students and outcasts to being wealthy 40 year olds. The classic campers have gone from surf bums to dual incomes, two kids and £1k per window. Your average collector 10 years ago just can't afford to get a junk now.

Before I would source a car from autotrader and then only in the local area. Now I can look on the internet, get pictures and consider buying something unseen a little further away. More people are buying unseen and rushed panic buying increases the price when the next one to comes up, sounds like what is happening in Pinball.

Initially the internet gave the buyers more choice, but it also gives a seller more buyers. I can't see a way back unless the owners fortunes change so much that they have to sell up but even in a recession, someone has money and they can pounce on the bargains.
