I personally don't see what all the fuss is sbout taf. It doesn't really have anything on a mm imo. I just see it as a theme that everybody likes so it holds it's price. Just like a guns n roses. Any pin based around a movie that flopped usually relatively cheap and sometimes have better gameplay than alot of the bigger named pins

Politely advised SW is roughly a 1500-2k machine, 1800 plus for a nice one when he put it on at 3250 starting last week. Two price drops later and it's still there at 1895. Seems like prices are at an all time stupid high for your ' average' more common every day machines and your 'high end' rare prized ones have eventually stabilised, apart from TAF which is equally as daft at the minute.

Taf is stone cold classic. It *is* the beginning of the 90s golden era. Lawlor was a genius.

MM is a decent but very over rated game imo :-) Each to their own.

What folk must remember about the Addams Family is what pinball was like when it came out in 1992. I was a student 1990 to 93 in London. Back then most university bars had pinball machines, many halls of residence did, there were still arcades with pinball machines, many leisure centres had them, many regular bars had them too

I played £1 at lunchtime. A further £1 in the evening - stuff like

Phantom of the Opera
Checkpoint
Transporter
Earthshaker
Hurricane
DE Simpsons
Swords of Fury
Robocop
Whirlwind
BoP
Bad Cats
Lethal Weapon
Rollergames
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Terminator 2

Then along came a TAF to my university bar, replacing Rollergames.

It absolutely blew all of these other games away. This is why more were produced than any other machine before or since.

I have owned one for over 15 years. It is my most reliable game. It is still my favourite game. The last one I would sell.

I was too young to remember the hype of the TAF era in 1992. 20,270 of these were made. I would imagine they were in most towns but the sheer number of them made alone meant many people were playing this machine and remember it from their youth. But this isn't 90s and these days you can pick up a much better game for a more reasonable price. Okay the 'thing' out the box gimmick looks pretty cool the first time you see it, but that is it for me.
They don't justify their price. A beat up addams family for 3.5k.

Im still in awe of the castle and trolls on MM, I think that machine was way ahead of its time especially toy wise when you compare it to what gets put out these days.

partly because the stupid gaming revue made the fruit machine jackpot a stupid £4.80 and income from them stalled

The glory days when ops couldn't get enough hurricanes to satisfy demand

Is this true? I always thought Hurricane was an awful game. I'm guessing it was really popular when it came out then sort of went by the wayside? I always thought Comet and Cyclone were way better machines.

ops would take ANY pinball as there was a waiting list for TAF. DE were slightly cheaper and we all know our ops love a bargain which is why electrocoin shifted over a 1000 LW3 - ive seen the certificate of thanks from Gary S!

when the market dropped and then collapse in 1994/5 ops quickly dumped games like Hurricane but kept operating TAF rather than buy new games as the new games couldn't out perform it. being stung by popeye didnt help. hence whilst hundreds of games were being exported TAF was still flipping away in pubs across the land. I did take a picture of Solney automatics burton on trent warehouse circa 1996 with around 1000+ pins stacked up for export including lots of ST TNG and TZ. Luckily I cant find it as it would break hearts now!

I remember London pubs in the 1990 to 1993 having rubbish 20p play fruit machines with £4.80 jackpots. Waste of your time. They paid out in tokens too that you could spend at the bar. Things like monopoly, pink panther

But private clubs, like my university bar, had £100 jackpot fruities on 10p play. We had a brilliant playing card themed one that provided real competition for the pinball machine and jukebox when it came to the student £1. And back then rubbish beer and cider in the bar was 70p a pint

Will TAF ever stabilise or fall in price? I know you guys that own one hope it never does but the prices for an old machine are unreal..
I so wish I'd had the foresight to have bought one 10 years ago...
I blame my wife for not letting me have one. Grrrrrrr
Don't think that TAF bargains don't happen. They do. About three years ago I bought an Addams AND a Whitewater @ £2000 for the pair. Needless to say I didn't get them off ebay. :)

Oi ...don't start on Popeye*:)

*and yes for those 2 people interested my Ultimate Guide to the sailor man is still coming (soon-ish)

Looked at that one but didn't like the way it was over stressed that once it's in the van there's no liability for faults or problems.... Not Argos I know with a years guarantee but to spend 3k you need a little assurance from the seller.
Not an expert but I would take that as an underlying fault that keeps cropping up??

Thoughts?

Press the Buy it now button. Tell him you will pay him cash on collection this weekend to avoid paypal fees for him. When you come and collect inspect before parting from your cash. If it is rubbish tell him it isn't as described and walk away. He might not be happy but you won't have lost anything (apart from a trip to Brighton).

He says he's no expert but has a line up of 4 machines in his house...sounds like bull****! how can he not know how to fix them?

now he list the one in the line I WAS interested in but unlike the TAF and AFM the dirty Harry is way over priced

he used capslock throughout so i found this just a reasonable assertion that once you shake hands and load up, it's yours and so are any associated lucky finds of cash / wraps / diamonds / turds / faults

hmmm, well i have double figures and i can't fix most things. i had double figures four years ago when i knew even less. this is definitely possible

if anyone knows his real name let me know in PM, as i *think* i previously bought from him (and had a good experience) but could be confusing him with someone else. i kept records of all my buys and sells, who from, who to, prices etc, so if i know the guy's name i can check if i had a happy finish or was left high and dry.
