Mine doesn't have the remote battery installed..
It is always advisabie to put a remote battery holder away from the boards on the flat bit of the back box, just in case the batteries decide to go pop, it just stops the acid doing damage to the boards? Which is expensive

L3 to L6 was just upgrades along the way addressing a few things, some they get right some create new issues, that need to be upgraded again. L7 has the billionaire bug. There is an unofficial L8 version out now, but while reading some reviews the L6 seems to be a good overall upgrade and won't crash when you finally get to the billionaire club. Happy days:clap: I am trying to find out if the official L6 rom is same size and it will just be plug and play, The L8 will need larger EPROMs and rejumpering. Not too difficult a job, I am told. But may be needed if more upgrades are being planned?

With the scores on BOP. You have a Billionaire Clib high score table and the normal one. I have the top 4 places in the normal table. Not managed Billionaire yet. One day :)

If you've played it virtually. The real thing table is a lot harder and requires a lot more skill..
I've played the real deal many times. I played a brand new one back in the day. I was in the pub playing pinball when the game company came in to swap the games. I think they took a Police Force out and put the brand new BOP in.
I once went ballistic playing BOP as I was determined to get 100 million without Billionaires Club too. I got 90+ million and got Billionaires Club lit. My plan was to wait it out and carry on but whilst trying to get the ball under control it accidentally went up the centre ramp.
I wasn't a happy camper.

Gutted, hopefully That's one set of emotions, I won't have to go thru, if the L6 rom from Paul does the trick:thumbs:

awesome stacks! if it was plugging in and go that's a great price. However the 6803 system can be a pig to fix, displays hard to get if dead etc etc

soft spot for this game too. is one of first machines to have a fan/grid layout. lovely bass soundtrack - like Cactus Jacks!

I've been using L8 long term now and have not noticed any bugs in it, apart from a minor niggle.

When you have a ball locked and then loose your 3rd ball, it starts playing the game over music, but then when it kicks the ball out of the lock, the music stops and the game goes silent.

So yeah, L8 is the way to go, it seems to work near perfectly

even if true Wes should know lines like this put off 90% of buyers. it either works or it doesn't. like the heavy metal earlier , seller shouldn't claim its a simple fix.

"unfortunately some fuse holders have come loose on pcb board

which means the flippers and two kick outs are not currently working

i have the spare parts , they just need soldering in

the only reason for sale is currently i am busy with work and dont have the time to fix"

I was unsure what way to go? So I ordered both Roms. I have to see if the machine has been rejumpered, if not, Hopefully the L6 is just plug and play? I will start on L7 see what it's like, then L6, see what I am missing then onto L8 to see if any extra lights/features etc. and see what one suits me best.
Hearing what you have said about L8 bug? That bug may be more annoying than the Billionaire bug? As hopefully I will be getting many multiballs before I get to billionaire shot? Lol we will see. Pete

L6 and L7 will be plug and play, L8 will require the W1 and W2 jumpers swapping

It's a fairly easy task if you can solder, if not it's best to send the board to someone who can to avoid risking damage to your board

The only bug I've found with my BOP L3 is that on finishing a game with one ball in the head. On finish it releases the ball but the end sequence music cuts..You just hear the mechanism..,it's quite quirky. I kinda like it..

Another thing that puzzled me was why I didn't have a setting for adult or family mode. Must have been introduced in later roms I guess..

One more thing on YouTube videos I see some folk getting the ball up the shuttle ramp with left flipper. Happens very rarely on my machine. Only when I'm not trying..

Yeah I reported that bug in L8, but I am told now it is in L7 as well (the music cutting out) - It's annoying enough that at some point I am going to have to fix it

I suspect some people install stronger flipper coils. I have fully rebuilt flippers and new coils on mine, and I cannot backhand the ramp. The angle of your playfield will be an influencing factor, but I still think some people install strong coils in all their games when you look at the power of the flips on some.

I personally consider the game setup "correctly" if with the right flipper coils installed, only a clean shot on the ramp will make it all the way. Don't wan't the ramp too easy

if the left flipper makes the shot with ease the game is set too easy. when the game was new (in 1991) a local arcade had one set up with a weekly high score challenge. id go in on sunday afternoon and simply pass the ball over from right to left and up the ramp. billionaires club £20 please. unfortunately game was quickly changed to a T2 which was a bit more challenging. back in the day Bride lost value quite quickly as to operators and average punters the Dot Matrix games looked much newer.

I will have to make sure it is not set up to easy, so I can enjoy the game longer and it can be a player/keeper. I can't wait.

I am not sure but Would the 2.0 package swap over to dot matrix and speaker upgrade? Plus would it be worth it as not seen package yet? Not that I want to belittle the package as is, but I am sure it will not take me a long time to look at LEDs etc if it's going to be a keeper.:)

Luke, Not sure why your last comment was pulled/deleted.
Again he's maximising margin on machine and giving the impression it's from his personnel collection. Basically he should cut the crap. List it as a project machine that he's flipping, note the faults he has so far found and make the buyer aware of possible other gremlins that may be lurking..

Sadly he has friends on here that feel the need to defend him, even though they must know what he is doing is wrong.

I totally agree, all he has to do is be honest, and no one would have anything to complain about. That's it, that's all he has to do, but then he would make less profit if he was honest

Funny thing is if he was honest and joined this site he'd probably have faster turnover and make more overall selling them at less profit per pin...

"The machine is mostly working, the thing flips opto's need to be looked at and the book case turns but slowly and noisily but does turn so is working. The minus volume button inside coin door isn't working but it has worked in past."

I'm struggling to see the logic in statements like this.

hahaha, everything worked in the past at some point
