Look at this on eBay
NOS JUDGE DREDD PINBALL MACHINE TOPPER
Why do we see JD without toppers? What do people do with them when removed? Bin them?

Good ones - fish tales , wh2o, high speed, whirlwind, f14 actually add something. The best ones not only attract punters but also enhance gameplay, the fish tales one is effectively a shaker motor

Low rent ones like jd, just don't imho. BUT If you want your game original, you "have" to put them on

The FT one looks OK but that flapping tail...... I'd have to throw something at it if not dis-connected.

Do like some though; Whitewater, Walking Dead (severed heads).

You can quieten the flapping tail, put a post rubber between the domed end of the plunger and the return spring. Vickers maxim machine gun becomes a shaker motor

Toppers that do something are great. The others seem like a waste of time. Stern are coming out with some decent toppers (at stupid prices though). Their Kiss topper looked great in the video. Ghostbusters looked dreadful though.

I think players don't care so much for toppers but collectors do, I was dead chuffed to find a topper via this forum for JD... thank god @pinsinthewild is a bloody nice chap and just wanted what he'd paid for it or a mug like me might be considering that one on ebay!

Same here. My old JD had one and never bothered putting it up. Cheap, thin plastic and a complete waste of money imo.

Not a fan of toppers topper for TAF looks hideous - like the backbox blew a giant snot bubble

topper seems to be VERY important when you come to sell a game LOL. most pointless factory topper is Millionaire with its flashing white light for no apparent reason

Not a big fan of toppers myself although at least the TAF one does something.

Most seem to be just bits of shaped plastic but seem to be mega bucks to get or replace

best topper is WH20 but I couldn't imagine F14 without the triple disco effect. first topper was Space Shuttle though just a sign. I have a hi res scan of mine if anyone needs to knock one up

no they were just part of the machine. only option UK operators had to fork out extra for was a multi coin door on mid 80s game to replace twin coin slots but by 1991 those were standard

So in the old days the machines cost pennies, came with a topper, and were all the LE version.

Oh well, these days at least the games all come with free included glass and flippers.

The backglass has more bubbles than an aero. Playfield is well worn, probably about average. dead game. seller can't get it going.

but plenty of bits available for this title - repro and from breakers in the usa. plastics, drops, pops, mechs, flipper rebuilds, all available. these old ballys were built to last

a truly awesome game for its era. my favourite 70s title
