Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. By Spooky

How sure are you....

BOF when showing off Dune people spotted a goonies cabinet there!
Spooky have been rumoured/linked to Goonies but Spooky won’t do a theme unless at a minimum they can get full assets.

TCM was originally planned to be ### but the licensor was being difficult so they switched out ### and put in TCM which was ready to go with licensing.

Gremlins & Freddy are also strongly rumoured.

Spooky are also looking at doing a HUGE license, that’s been done before but never been done justice in pinball.

Stern absolutely make some of the best shooters and Elwin is the best designer for shots and innovative ball paths.

But, there is so much more to a pinball machine now. I feel the others are catching up with shots and flipper feel.

But the progress made it the last two years by the smaller companies has seen them produce far more immersive experiences than Stern.

Theses games feel like events with the lighting, sound, toys, integration, toppers, Powder coating, ambience and artwork eclipsing anything Stern produce now. Spike 3 is unlikely to be enough and has possibly already been surpassed.

I love Deadpool and Jaws . . . They'll never leave my collection but Stern no longer make the best pinball machines. . . They just do a couple of things better.

Still great shooters like Godzilla but let's be fair. It's the mod makers who have transformed that game from a genius shooter to a world under glass.

Stern will be just fine but as Andy said, they're a budget pinball brand. I'm sure Beetlejuice did have a budget but it doesn't look like it. It just looks like a bunch of excited pinball enthusiasts have been able to chuck as many toys, ramps and mechs into a playfield as they wanted. It looks like a game where nobody said 'no' to anything.

These latest games of Potter, Evil Dead, Dune, Winchester and Beetlejuice are on another level, full of imagination, magic, toys and bundles of atmosphere.

I think pinball has gone to the next level. That Beetlejuice is like a Bally Williams on steroids made with modern technology and a blank cheque. Incredible!

Nope, can’t/wont say as it was divulged to me during a conversation with someone at Spooky, crazy how open these guys are about things. If they do it, people’s jaws will hit the floor as you wouldn’t expect it from Spooky.

The licence that was swapped out for TCM is an absolute day one buy for me though, I could be an absolute mech extravaganza, I just hope they get the licensing worked out.

Games only just been shown and we're onto hype for the next one 😄

Fair play to Spooky, they sure have brought back some excitement to pinball, not a theme for me, but that's ok, great new pins helps everyone by pushing the hobby forward.

Stern do a lot of things right, layout and code (eventually) plus they get games out the door fast, theres definitely room for a mainstream manafacturer but especially in the UK there isn't enough price difference.

Stern will be just fine

We say that - but they moved to a huge new factory, the competition is cumulatively stealing an increasing number of potential sales, they’ve been aggressive with price increases and they’ve killed the LE golden goose by getting greedy with other editions. I don’t think they’re in immediate danger but who knows what will happen down the line.

Just looking at the gameplay video, what the hell have they done with the GI? It's the most horrible obnoxious lighting I've ever seen.

Am I missing something? Do people not want to see what they're doing? GI = general illumination, it's supposed to illuminate the game. This is just horrible green flashing constantly. What the absolute....😑

Games looks great but yeah the GI is not good. It completely ruins the awesome playfield artwork.
Like you say, the GI should help light up the game not drown it in colour

BOF got it spot on with Dunes lighting effect for gameplay integration, so I’m sure Spooky could update it in future updates if they wanted.

Everything about the machine shouts, it's like Art Attack meets Ben & Jerrys meets a carnival funhouse meets the apartment from Friends.

The GI being over the top is completely in keeping.

It's pure sugar for the eyes, not my thing but I understand why everyone else loves it.

Im really hoping you can turn the strobing down in settings as it does look a tad overwhelming!
It’s nowhere near as bad in person, those that attended the midnight launch at Spooky, have commented that the lighting is great in person and there is plenty of GI.

The GI is getting washed out by the green. Don and a couple others spoke about it saying it was way better in person than on the reveal video

Goonies is next from spooky and it’s already done … another one il be getting … spooky are killing it … I don’t even consider sterns anymore … sad but their own doing
Also Bug confirmed they are keeping the price at $9999 for the next game as well 👍🏼 The only thing they need to work on is speed of manufacture. A year is too long to wait. Hope they shuffle it up a bit and deliver a container to Phil in May or something.

We can never rule out Stern... But it's biggest problem is it's prices. No one wants to lose $4k in 6 months. They need to drop their prices.

It's going to be decision time for many next Nov... BTTF or Goonies. Trouble is BTTF could be another 3 year wait!

Agree a may delivery would be nice

The game looks incredible — packed with innovation and loads of great features. It’s not really my theme, but I’m definitely looking forward to giving it a go. Hopefully they’ll also develop an open, modern equivalent of Insider Connect that feels more in line with today’s online services.

I must say… watched the gameplay stream- it looks fantastic 👏🏻 personally love the theme- one of my favourite movies as a kid

Also. Game looks phenomenal. They do need to perhaps tone down the pulsing green lighting. That aside looks class. That Danny Elfman score 😍

They just purchased new land with plans to build another unit for production/manufacturing.

Thankfully they are doing it right and growing at a steady pace, another couple of years and Spooky might need to be doing 2 games a year if they keep selling out day 1.

I don't rule them out Steve mate, I said they'll be fine.

In the US their games are significantly cheaper than the competition. In effect their pros are dirty cheap and the premiums are cheaper than Spooky, JJP and BOF.

In this country we're getting the same game without the saving.

So put a Stern Premium alongside an Evil Dead at a similar price point and there is no comparison. You're getting a budget game at a luxury price.

A Kong Pro at $6700 is a phenomenal price at £8300 or whatever it's no longer good value.

Spooky kinda have to be 'better', they have a tiny market share. A Stern Godzilla Premium doesn't have bells and whistles like an Evil Dead perhaps but it is still the number one game on Pinside with arguably one of the all time great pinball mechs. Not only that when that game was announced you could order it and get one in no time and it'd be relatively bullet proof.

I dunno, feel like the internet herd all flows one way at times. Halloween is a pretty average game, Scooby Doo is as well, they're loaded though 🤷‍♂️. The hope has to be that Spooky and Barrels etc push Stern to be better because there is no question they take the **** in MANY ways. Flat plastics instead of sculpts, plastics ramps, 2k toppers, shooter rods etc.

And Kris's point on Stern pricing UK Vs US, totally valid
