Hiya, good question, I had to go look.

Found it at the factory shop for £3, I wanted a really cheap sh!tty filler and it's actually spot on. In the tub it's like mozzarella, you mix heavily and get watery filler on the pallet knife. Spread like butter and then use a clean palette knife to remove excess.

After an hour, orbital sand with 180 grit quickly and it's good. Here is a pic this morning with a quick dust of primer so I can see if it worked. I think it did.

In worse news, the over spray/sand/touch up looks aweful. That's a problem for tomorrow.

Yeah that's come out really nice and smooth, I had resorted to using resin mixed with body filler for mine, worked ok but hard to sand and gums up the sanding pads, looks like thats a much better option.
Weird the touch ups gone like that, swear sometimes paint has a mind of its own and just decides to do something odd for no reason.

See the lines on the paper, that's what I did by eye from Google images result, this may have a chance of looking like it's meant to be.
 
Following paint induced panic and a steep learning curve, I made some progress on the back box

What am I doing wrong - Rustoleum Painters Touch

What started out as sanding back an area of overspray and repainting is turning out to be a real pain in the ar5e. Anyone have any ideas before I sand the whole thing back to wood and start again? Application... Five minutes later...

Hours spent preparing for a couple of minutes of action....

Tried my hardest to ensure no gaps anywhere. Mylar tends to want to lift...

Then two coats of light misting of paint. Pulsing the spray rather than constant mist.

This did cause the can to start spitting a bit.

Finally after 20 mins wait from the first coat and 8 minutes after the second, let's carefully get the stencils off and remove any masking from existing paint work. The paint is still tacky, so need to be careful....

Pleased with that.

Please excuse the wood grain coming through, the veneer was saved from its first makeover, whenever the hell that was. It's fine, retains some of its age ;)

Now, patience required as I let that dry and cure so I can try the dark blue rings tomorrow.

Anyway, this mornings first task was re-mask and set up the next handmade stencil. Lining it up by eye.

Using the expensive low tack mask anywhere I need contact with paintwork. Everywhere else gets the cheap stuff.

Notice Mylar tends to bulge.

So we have to weigh it down. I have no idea why the slate border in the garden has so many funny coloured stones! 😉

Other side done. As expected, reusing the mylar stencils I made was 100% possible, but damn, they want to lift. Results show some more overspray than the first side had proven was possible to eliminate.

Reassembled the back box now. Some work to do in there, but that's for rainy days.

Last couple of days I've been spraying white gloss on the left side.

Today has been all about the first dark blue layer.

Step 1. Project into paper and mark up with pencil.

Step 2. Make some stencils.....I may do this again ..

Step 3. Mark up the cab and mask with low tack tape and paper.

Step 3. Paint, two light coats, wait 8 mins then remove.

I'm not getting a good feeling about this...

The struggle is real getting stencils to lay flat!
Looking good though, don't sweat the imperfections, when its all back together you won't even notice them.
 
Time to count to 10 and walk away. New can of dark blue, another paint explosion from the nozzle....this was second coat, did not go on even, seriously p!$$ed off with myself.

The drips I didn't see until the damage was done. They pickle up badly. Took a paint brush and sand paper to it immediately I saw (after 10 mins) alas, whilst I was doing that, had left the stencils on too long and got splotchy edges.

I'll order some better nozzles, let this dry and go into touch up mode to see what's salvageable.

Oh and I didn't mask properly, what a pr@t.

Glad I hadn't spent out on a set of stencils, it's bad enough wasting paint!

Lol, i've stormed off in a temper to walk the dogs, only just returned. Didn't think about cotton buds, I'll go try now. Thanks @kev a ;)
 
Waiting for paint to cure before repairs, I decided to clean off rust and then sand and polishing a few parts today.

This was a rusty channel for the backbox door. It's not now ;)

old cans usually do that. occasionally you get a faulty one too. or a faulty nozzle. also make sure can is at current temperature and shaken properly. get a stock of spare nozzles. the vertical spray ones are best for cabs as give a similar effect to a prof spray gun. keep the nozzle clean to. stop drips. spray into a test card initially get get rid of spurts of paint.

Was the same blue colour I had issues with both accidents on this job. Could be old cans, not old to me, but who knows how old they are or maybe the paint is slightly different. Seemed to happen when spraying lightly. Nothing was wrong with full force, but went bad quickly as soon as light spraying started.
 
Those nozzles look good, feel like a wide fan spray pattern would make it easier to get an even coat.

I had a bit of trouble with the blue painters touch cans when I did my WW, ok at the start but half empty would splatter and not atomise properly, warmed them, shook them.... didn't seem to make much difference, like the paint was just a little too thick for whatever propellant they use.
