No Longer Available 1997 Medieval Madness for Sale

I would say £6,000 and you may get a buyer but there are two for sale and neither have sold yet and the other is £6,000. £6950 is a lot of money when you can buy brand new.

Maybe best to keep it

Apples n Pears, look at mk1 ford escort prices.

Mk1 Ford escorts actually sell though :)

The remake has had definite impact on original sales value, partly because the remake is just outstandingly done. Those with AFM might want to think about shifting them quick before the same thing happens to them. Also I expect the screen update on MMR won't help the pricing of the original either!

GLWS.

Not so sure about that, mint originals were selling for 5k before the remake. You won't get one for that now, no chance.

I would be interested in a MM but really would only want to spend about 4k for an older one..
as stated, the new machines will impact the value of older more troublesome machines

4k might get you a really worn out rusty one off the end of a pier with a blown out cab and 1 flipper.

just look at whos making the comments Marcel, no disrespect but they are reasonably new to pins and most of them have never owned a mm, new or old, comments like

best laugh i have had in a while

the way peoples for sale threads are treated on here are a joke and make ebay look good

The upgraded display animations on the remake are nice, but for me that's about the only positive over a mint original. Many people myself included would rather have an old one. It will be interesting to see how much remakes are worth vs originals in 10-20 years time. I wonder which machines are more "troublesome" after a few years too.

Interesting debate and much is personal preference.

My experience is that mint originals play better than MMR and original is original but as ever condition is everything:cool:

I would love a original mint mm and afm but new decals etc is not original in my eyes. I would have bought this for a play but at £6950 you would lose money when selling it which in pinball you should be able to get your money back with how things are going if you buy right.

We do seem to be loosing a bit of decorum in for sale threads with the influx of new people.... Maybe the rules need reiterating by our admins, because this sort of discussion/criticism in a for sale thread is totally unfair.

Thats true Mark, but unlike other titles where there is no remake (Monster Bash springs to mind) the prices of the MM originals has slowed down in growth and those originals went almost instantly when they were put up for sale (I was looking for an MM last year and ended up, gladly with an MMR and I was prepared to spend over the market price).

I think anyone making a bet on that is gambling :) but...

Had my MM for 10 years, probably longer. I can honestly say I have never had a single fault with it :)

what I can tell you from my MMR is that its bullet proof, I've not had to touch it. Compared to three NIB Stern's, an MB, BoP, NBA, ToM and ST:TNG of which all of them have required some sort of effort.

I would have to say though that I've never played a mint MM so its hard for me to compare against the MMR. All of the other MM's that I've played have been pretty poor mechanically, apart from one though they have all been on location, so its hard to really compare - but I love my MMR its a superb machine, and infact because it was so good I had no doubt in ordering AFMR, and stopped trying to get an original AFM. If they do MB I'll flog my original and buy the remake.

WRT sales threads I also thought it was a big no-no to post on them, but I've seen both "old" and "new" members do this regularly. It would be good to have a sales talk thread (a large car forum I'm a mod on has such a thread).

Cheers,
Neil.

I personally wouldn't mind comments on price in my for sale threads as long as they are that persons honest opinion and not made in spite. I think comments should help inform/protect potential buyers as well as the seller. Machines will always go for what someone will pay for them, regardless of if someone thinks they are too expensive. If you think a machine is advertised for 1K more than it should be then good luck in finding an equivalent one for 1K less.

Trouble is, some people really don't like it, everyone's opinion is different, and it often descends into chaos and outright rudeness. We had lengthy debates about this on the forum 5 or 6 years ago, when the forum was just setting out and the cultural norms were developing. It was agreed then that it wasn't OK, and forum rules were put in place to that effect.

Everybody has a different perspective and sure, if a cabinet has had new decals it isn't original as in what come from the factory. There's still nothing wrong with a restored machine in my eyes, as functionally it's still the original tried and tested design. To me this means 20+ years of knowledge about what goes wrong, how to fix it and plentiful parts supply.

The only reason I can see for the remakes to be made with a different design and board set is to save money manufacturing. I'm sure they're really reliable now in home use as they've only been about for a couple of years. 10 years from now I've no doubt that any problem that develops with an original will be easily repaired and it will work for another 10 years. I'm not so sure the same can be said about the remakes?

New to the forum - reasonably , new to pinball NO... bought my first TOM back in 2002.

I think the prices for some older games are currently ridiculous.. that bubble will burst i am sure

Don't get me wrong, if the game is super super minty, then it might be worth it... I just think 7k is a lot... and as we all can see, there is another up for 6k, that is not selling also...

Ok, i agree my 4K offer was very low ! just testing the water, as if someone really wants to sell, then its only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it...
Currently I have 4K cash sitting here waiting for my next pin, so can you blame me for having a punt !

I love the way you suggested that I am 'new to pins' when you know absolutely nothing about me ! comedy !

Just to point out I've now had 3 offers and £6k was the minimum.

Just because there is one available for £6k does not determine the quality or ceiling price of another.

I think it's really interesting to read other people's comments about machines for sale. Often it throws up issues that you might not have spotted as a potential buyer. As a potential seller I would be very reluctant to post a machine for sale on here unless I was absolutely 100% sure the price was at or under the market value and everything else as described. I really didn't like how the Operation Thunder thread went.

I would prefer a proper classifieds section.

I think we all know that forum rules are that no comments should be passed regarding asking prices

But some folk cannot help themselves and I doubtless will have been guilty of this in the past. When games look cheap, folk often say they look cheap. When games look too expensive, folk often say they look to expensive. Rightly or wrongly, that is the reality of it

Is it time for a comment free for sale page ? So only the OP can post on it ?

Or - amend the rule to reflect the reality. Folk do routinely comment on mispriced games

Is it worth a poll on the matter ? But in the crazy world we live in, might we elect Diane Abbott by mistake ?
