DOMINO ARCADE: The Last DOMINO Critical Hit Pinball Tournament

Ditto all of the above. HUGE thanks to Neil and Mandy for an excellent event. All your hard work is greatly appreciated by all and we all had such a great day.

Some great 'Critical Hit' cards played but even managing to get Craig out of my group twice, on the same round, still didn't help me. Will hopefully get the 'Stop play immediately as you win the tournament' card next time.:clap::clap:

Just to echo what others have already said and that is to say thank our hosts Neil and Mandy. I had a terrific day, it was great to catch-up with those I've met before and a chance to meet new players and put names to faces.

The Critical Hit cards certainly spiced things up a little and helped to level the playfield a little, however, as the results showed, the cream rose to the top.

I'd like to add my sincere thanks as well - absolutely incredible day, great fun, great people and really appreciate the tremendous effort and hospitality Neil and Mandy.

Thank you!!

I also liked the idea of the cards getting 3 duplicate cards of change game wasn’t a bad thing - shame I wasted one by playing it at the wrong time!

Looking forward to the October event at flip out (once details are confirmed)

Thank you so much to Mandy and Neil for hosting on Saturday night and Sunday! I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed it. Thank you for welcoming us into your garden and for all of the effort you put in to making sure the weekend went smoothly - from the marquee to the toilets to the hand sanitiser stations!

Great to see everyone though - met lots of new people, looking forward to the next event!

Firstly congrats again to Matt who played fantastically all day and was a deserved winner.

What can I say - first time ever - everybody arrived without any last minute bail outs huge thanks for this as there was still a couple of people waiting.

Last night I went to bed at 10 or something I was knackered slept try til 8:30! Legs were in pain lol.

Massive thanks to Mandy for putting up with all this **** and working her **** off to cook for 55 people.

Thanks to Kirk and Hullshark and a few others for helping get ready. And various folks that did things in the day.

The event ran well and apologies I overran this was down to not taking the ball saves out of Theatre (sorry the family love it so I don’t have it set so brutally hard!)
And we had a game issue on IMDN at the start. Having done it once I’m confident to get through this quicker next time.

Thank you everyone for coming with the spirit to make Critical hit work really well. There were some real belters - Diane’s play was hilarious and we gave her the trophy for best play- but there was also a 5 card battle, and many player swaps unfortunately (?) [emoji23]one player got a lot of the attention on this. I think in future I’d probably limit those cards a little but In the end the best player won and everyone had a lot of fun.

I did cock up one card play but managed to recover from it. Appreciate any input on how this worked not everything was perfect but We didn’t have any punch ups thankfully [emoji28]

After seeing Domino Arcade empty for a year and a half it was fantastic to see it literately rammed with everyone enjoying the games - this is why I built it in the first place.

We will definitely make this an annual event and I’m already working out how I can make it BIGGER

I’ll cover more on the results when I get back from the recycling centre! [emoji23][emoji817]

And of course - The Christmas Extravaganza is not long away…

thank you so much Neil and Mandy for an excellent day, I loved the format, and will always remember myself and Dan fighting over who was going to take Craig’s huge first ball score on stranger things. We eventually tossed a coin for it, and I won. I was a very happy bunny, even with Dan now raising his voice so Craig could hear our devious plan. My excitement was then crushed when Craig smiled informing me he was laughing inside hearing us, knowing he had a card to cancel mine. 😂😂😂 great fun.
Superb meeting up with so many of the pinball scene in such lovely surroundings, and run to perfection 👍

Thanks Neil and Mandy. You really pulled out all the stops on this one, and great to be back at the domino shed.

Was great to see you again claire, lots of fun and was good to play against you, even though I won against you in some rounds! I still managed to come 3rd in 8 of my games and won one on Batman 66.

Look forward to seeing you again in December at Pete’s event in Salisbury. It’s a shame you’ll miss the Saturday event which is head to head on the classics. That starts at 10am I think.

Almost as much as I was laughing as I knew Craig had the cancel card :)

What a fantastic event, huge thanks to both Neil and Mandy!

It's only the second 'proper' competition I've been involved in and I'm quite pleased with a joint 13th place 😊

The format was fun and I'd definitely play it again. There was a few cards that seemed pointless, like the giving someone in your group an extra ball.
I guess it has a use but when you're always playing with people at the same points level I couldn't see how to see it strategically.
Would be great if the groups were more mixed up, i felt for those at the bottom who were playing with the same people all day as its great to play and meet different people.

Maybe there could be a card that mixes up the player groups for a round 🤷🏻‍♂️
Also, with the amount of machines it was odd some people ended up on the same machines 3 times.

Minor things of course! It was a great day with great people and great food!

yeah the machine selection was not normal. Party because I was boucing some groups to the games in the house so the shed wasn't overloaded. Feeding into Andreas who write the matchplay code about how he might solve this.

In additional - big thanks to Karl DeAngelo for helping in the background and supplying the Critical hit cards!

If you went away with any cards please hang onto them and give them to someone who might be going to Flipout or something...

IFPA have approved the results they will be up tomorrow!

Many thanks to Neil and especially Mandy, what a great event!

I think the format, with the cards, really helped make it a very social occasion and it was just fun to get back playing again, even if I was mostly rubbish!

I thought I'd sorted a win by stealing Ed's 650k on TNA, but despite getting the score to just over 1m he still (deservedly) came back and took first place.

Its a shame that Thomas stole my "Remove a player from a group" card, as I was planning to play that on Josh when he got a game he really likes :)

The cards were a very clever concept! Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long till the next time we get to use them!

Big thanks to Neil and Mandy for hosting 💖 Food and hospitality was amazing! Good to see everyone, sorry had to leave before the end but good job I did as it was nearly midnight when i got home thanks to the M6 and M58 night closures. Only regrets for me were being knackered and not making the Saturday thanks to stupid work and having finger pain all day thanks to my WoZ! Congrats to Matt and Diane on the wins, Andy Newton's 5 card batlle with me...😡😡😆😆!!! But all part of the game. Great fun, hopefully see you all soon!

5 card battle was a compliment - I knew you’d catch up (almost) [emoji6], you saw my effort - needed all the help I could get [emoji23]

Nice one Neil & Mandy for hosting such a great event and cheers to all the lovely people I chatted to [emoji482]

This was my favourite moment of the day by far ☺️ it was a very strange feeling, hearing Tony and Dan giggling to each other throughout my ball, quietly cheering me on as my score was going up and up, delighted with themselves that one of them was going to steal my score 🤣 The cancel card was quite literally burning a hole in my pocket throughout the whole ball. It was a brilliant moment and Tony it was an absolute joy to do it to you 🤭

Amazing result Matt considering your epic last minute trip up North Saturday night / Sunday morning

I just want to echo what everyone else has said to thank Neil and Mandy for hosting such a fun event that is totally different from any other format I have played. The hospitality was top notch, everyone seemed happy and it is always good meeting new people.
I thought the use of cards added a great dimension to the competition, my favourite moment watching Wayne’s reaction denying him the chance to “add a ball“ on Medievel Madness to add another million to his score to overtake me 😁.
I’m sure a lot of people had a good giggle using some of their cards to their advantage.
I said to Neil he should make his own custom set of cards with even more choice of actions that alter the game such as play the game with your arms crossed, wear kaleidoscope style glasses to name a couple of ideas.

Only the official card set is allowed, if it's to be submitted for WPPR pts. It's already been discussed by IFPA

Fair enough, I did wonder how we got WPPR points with the special RPG element added to it.

There's an ongoing discussion here - with my tuppenneth thrown in :)

Massive thanks to Neil and Mandy for organising everything and the great hospitality; could tell there was a lot of hard work involved in sorting everything and keeping everything running smoothly, let alone the cleaning up after!...
Despite playing horrendously for most of the day, I still had a lot of fun and it was great catching up and meeting new people.
Like others, I ended up playing a few games multiple times, but it looks like Matchplay are working on this for the future. Did mean I got to play Mando I think 3 times though, which was cool:)
I still have a few cards which I still had in my pocket; I'll drop them off next time I'm at Flipout!

Look forward to the next tournament! (which is at Flipout next month?)
