Car porn

This is the reason I jumped to mercs, BMW design team started smoking too many drugs :D the grill looks like a BABOON bottom :D

I do like the current 3 series though.
Chris Bangle kicked off the whole BMW 'controversial styling' philosophy. He has a lot to answer for.

Here's the two projects, as mentioned previously the escort is co-owned with @carl lawrence , I still need to brush up on my photography skills though, that and update my retrorides build log for the eunos ready for retrorides gathering in september at mallory park but thats another matter. Also one of those sad gits who has an instagram for their cars @retro_law. Tempted to import a 660cc turbo kei car this year or just go for what I really want deep down which is an ae86 levin hatch/coupe (corolla gt), notice I have a thing going on at the moment with low power, light, front engine rear wheel drive 🤣

1994 Eunos Roadster - Just in the midst of planning a 4age 20v ITB Build that I want to do with it, that or be a daft bugger and try and fit some 45 twin carbs (solex, oer or webber), Currently waiting on a full exhaust system to arrive from japan (because I'm a sad bastard who likes to shaft himself with import duty just because the car was a 1994 jap import and want to keep the mods as close to what the original owner would have done) and yes I sadly do know the original owner from japan, used to race RX7s back in the early 00s and is still some goverment scientist up in tochigi bought the car new in 1994 at 28 and came to the uk in 2001, was off the road for 5 years with no mot prior to me.

Pictures taken last night as I managed to get my new Watanabe Wheels fitted that I ordered from japan

Nice to see a proper MX5 NA. I founded and ran 'mx5parts' for ten years. Happily retired now and enjoying pottering around in this :)

Continuing my theme/love for Alfas, the previous one I owned, until 2012 - a Brera. Loved this car - it wasn't ludicrously fast, but such a good-looking car inside and out. Was devastated to have to sell it to get something dull with 4 doors to fit the (at the time) newish kids in, and would happily buy it back now if I could ever find it!

I have a few cars that i have loved and lost with the pics still on my phone so i’ll paste them below.

1. The Alfa 4c - tried to kill me every time i so much as drove over a stone by snapping left or right, but it was such a lovely looking wee alfa. My jcw mini is in the background and the wifes abarth. The mini was awesome on a twisty road.

2. BMW i8 - handled surprisingly well. Very chuckable but still as comfy as a 5 series. And i never got tired of the doors.

3. Honda NSX - reg was M15 NSX and that sums it up nicely as i MISS that NSX. Only car i regret selling. Wish i still had it. Wasn’t quick by todays standards and it was an auto but i loved the way it made me feel driving it. Its gearbox broke and that pushed me to get rid of it after it was fixed as I wasn’t wanting any more bills from it, but i should definitely have kept it. Truly beautiful car.

My P&J, I bought it when I was 20, now I’m 51 and still love it, don’t use it enough sadly. Rebuilt it in 1994-5, still looks stunning.

Interestingly, I received a PM from another member on here, asking about my user name, as he used to own this same car! There was only ever one made (a pre production prototype) so keeps it nice and simple.

Also have this one, great fun when wringing it’s neck, revs to just shy of 9K RPM, with 5 valves/cylinder, flat plane crank and Tubi sports exhaust it sounds amazing.

Not one I own, but I’ve rented it a couple of times now…..

A Prost AP04, Peugeot 3L V10, 650hp and 550Kg, aero, slicks and carbon brakes, totally mind warping, life changing experience. Lucky enough to drive it at Magny Cours in France and Portimao in Portugal. Strongly recommend 😎

Chris.

Some great cars on here.
Heres my So42 Split screen. Had it about 13 yrs. Took a Year to restore. Many long weekends and late nights.

I sold this last year before I killed myself or someone, one mean little car😈
Roads around here are amazing, too amazing! Perfect for a super charged track Yaris!

That Yaris is a mean wee car indeed. I've done a load of laps around Knockhill in that and it is incredible. First time in a long time anyone has built a car like that. Defo a license shreddder.......😁

I believe your picture is a Lotus Elan M100.
Then you show pictures of an Exige, GT40 and a Stratos.
And hint it is only a couple of your collection.
You have to tell us more as I am in need of a new car collecting hero.

Yes, the Elan M100 is in there......well spotted! (That is a seriously under-rated and under valued wee car).

I have to confess I'm a bit of a car nut. Built the GT40 and the Stratos myself and have driven the wheels off them for years now. There's a few others lurking too.....

But why have you got that (relatively) ****ty Elan as a profile pic? That's the confusing part.

I have a soft spot for the Elan though still haven’t driven one.
Is it a GTD40 or another variant?

The modern Elan is muck. Always was. Sorry but if you can afford GT40 and Stratos replicas then that thing needs consigning.

I'm being deliberately provocative of course. It's not muck, it's a good car. Just way out of its league in that collection.

Thats mental....am I missing out on some royalties? 🤣

That pic was taken at the Stoneleigh Show in 2011. Seems like a lifetime ago. Its an annual pilgrimage for a load of us from up here. Looking forward to these things being back on now after Covid wiped all that out.

Such a great shape the GT40s......one of the best. I've even had this up at Applecross (if you petrolheads haven't heard of this then you need to check it out!). Link below (if it works).GT40 at Stoneligh 2011 2.jpg

Oh boy. That's kind of embarrassing.
LOl...nothing embarassing about it. I'm kinda flattered that my build made it on there!

(I'm giving JT the benefit of the doubt by assuming that he's not actually suggesting I'm "pretending I own the car!). Trust me....i know every nut and bolt on this thing as it took me nearly 15 yrs to build it, what with house moves, getting married, losing storage, having kids etc). Worth it in the end though....

I actually got a cease and desist notice from BMW for posting some photos of my old car. I had someone in Canada selling all sorts of merchandise (flasks, mugs, t-shirts) using a photo I had taken of a Pug puppy. I don't post photos these days. Somebody somewhere will either be making money from copying and selling it or from making sure nobody see's it.

Wow my old Yaris would have loved that and probably killed me😂
