I thought it was a little brutal as well LOL where is stumbler who loves all pinball gone haha
Colordmd was not ever open source.Given that good code can save mediocre games the “open source” thing has the potential to be interesting.
Wasn’t colordmd open source so people colourised the dots?
Admittedly there is a huge step up from tweaking someone else’s artwork to writing a new rules set but there are a lot of talented people out there. Does this actually have the potential to see new designers cutting their teeth on games?
I may well have misunderstood the concept though and maybe the “open source” part is only to change audio/visual files and not rules.
Hello Phil,
Then why tease that you have a new game?Hello Phil,
I would love to share more but, as expected, all the trolls come out without ever having seen even a drawing of the machine, just amazing!
Not really prepared to say any more because the trolls commenting are never going to be customers anyway. Anyone serious can contact myself or David at Retro Arcade Specialists.
Isn't that seawitch/beatles?View attachment 250278
No I havent been hanging around anywhere with a camera...... this is the Visual Pinball version of Blues Brothers.
Who would be happy to see a game like this?
Are rethemes a way to go these days?
sure the licensor is going to be really happy with none approved assets. The idea literally screams pirate music. So who’s going to be mucking about with open source code then? Surely the knockabout lot wont be? Learning to use any specialist coding tools and writing rules sounds pretty hardcore to me.

We don't want a premium licence used for a budget machine.
This and bttf are for many their dream theme and want it done right.
Ah the Cretin which is PinballSPColordmd was not ever open source.
But Pin2dmd was initially - then the guy from spain or somewhere ripped it off. God - I forgot his name. Did the hideous CFTBL mod too....
Pin2dmd got their pants in a twist and started charging 'donations' to get a serial number.
Shame most the code was ripped off Russ's Pindmd code.
Also John read what I posted earlier. Everything can be seen and changed on proper open source. File replacement for audio/video is not only against copyright/publishing laws in the UK it is not what open source means. The Linux OS is totally opensource along with Firefox, Python, VLC player, Libre Office.
What you should be able to do is rewrite the game totally - even rethemeing it (but nothing wrong with the theme).
It goes from the old 'homepin' method of changing a whole module to update code (or send it to your dealer) as the previous games did not even have a USB update socket to (maybe) being to access everything.
Newcastle in Australianewcastle pinfest in September ?? Have I missed something @Big Phil
I have no skin in the game, no room for a pool table or any more pins, but I like the concept as my desire to tinker with pinball machines is stronger than the desire to play them. Retheming classics seems like sacrilege, so this idea or even perhaps a build your own kit may be a workable idea too? I wish you good luck.I will clarify a few things that some of you don't seem to be able to grasp and please, stop reading things into what is said to suit your own negative agendas!
There is a need for a budget priced pinball machine. Currently, people with a pool table etc at home can't justify adding a pinball machine.
These people ARE NOT pinball "expert players" and they aren't interested in the boll-o-c-k-s that goes on with sites like this so they will never see any of your "charming, supportive" comments.
However, some of our customers, probably about 20%, ARE pinball collectors, good players etc and they appreciate what we do. They contact me from time to time asking for replacement T2's etc for their desks etc. On the whole, we have quite a lot of very happy customers. In the main, they choose to not comment here and on other sites as they usually get hounded or shot down by the vocal few loud mouths.
That's why the press release went out to Pinball Magazine to inform these potential customers, 20% of our customers.
The reason for the timing is we are exhibiting this machine (a mock up) at the arcade show this week. It will make the news if we did nothing so I pre-empted that. We pushed ourselves to get this ready for the show primarily so a fully finished machine will be ready to exhibit at Newcastle Pinfest in September. We are also donating one of these for a raffle to help the show organisers raise additional money for their charity this year.
Contrary to what some think, IP owners are already well aware of the trolling and idiotic comments made on sites like this and they 100% ignore your negative messages. How do I know this? I have been told directly by two different agencies now, they don't care what you say.
Heck, with Thunderbirds, I even had a well known pinball "personality" contact ITV and try to discredit me to get them to pull my licence - ITV phoned me and basically called him a "trouble maker" using stronger words than that. So if you think that the IP owners will pull a licence after three years of negotiations, contracts signed and substantial monies paid then go ahead and see how they treat you.
This is a BUDGET machine with minimal features and open source code that will be supplied from the factory fully working, with finished code. The opportunity is there for 'boffins' (and these people are NOT necessarily pinball collectors) to modify the code if they wish and share that with others. This is something that might take off, it might not. We will warranty the machine if it is running our code OR code approved by the moderators of our forum (forum available only to buyers of the machine). All Homepin electronics has a lifetime warranty - how are you going with your broken node boards fellas?
We stand behind the products we make which is a lot more than most other pinball manufacturers.
The machine will be supplied with some fully licenced music - the music has NOTHING to do with the IP owners, zero. It is a different licence to a record company - neither of them have any interest in what the other is licencing. Home owners can add or change what they like for their own use.
WE will release more information as it is warranted and also as the licence owner approves things. This all takes a lot more time that most understand.
Hey @Homepin
I respect what you do as an electrical engineer. Your communication skills need work! I’d try to ignore the criticism where possible and try not to inflict negative publicity on your own company.
Some people don’t like your games, just ignore it. Don’t try and defend yourself just try and make a better product in the future.
As others have said, Blues Brothers is a wanted theme for quite a number of people, they only want what they see as ‘ justice being done’ for the IP.
Don’t forget, Stern get a lot of criticism as well, but with them being a much bigger company, they have people to deal with it who aren’t involved with the making of the product from start to finish like you are.
Don’t take things so personally and try and spread some love

$5000 is still high for almost everyone for what essentially is a giant man toy. Now under 1000 that ls a different prospect. Would you write off £4000? The current issue is unfortunately the reality of new pins is just unaffordable. A NITB pin priced at £5k is an interesting prospect. I will reserve judgement on it until I play it, but having spent £6,000 on the pin I own and a further £1,000 fully restoring it, I'm not homepin target market.I’m genuinely confused now at who the target market really is.
I get the idea that some people just want basic games but won’t pay high prices as they just want an occasional knock about.
So who’s going to be mucking about with open source code then? Surely the knockabout lot wont be? Learning to use any specialist coding tools and writing rules sounds pretty hardcore to me.
I’d buy this LOL got that beatles feel!View attachment 250278
