Where did you buy this "project" from? You can remove the chip with a desoldering station. Post some pics of the board please.

Yes it’s a project alright ?

What’s the inverter do ,soldering onto a board would definitely be something I’d want to avoid .id likely melt the board

A Hex Inverter, it inverts things turns 0's into 1's and vice versa.

show us a pic, they can be repaired or my pinballs does new ones, depends on your budget

I could lend you my desoldering station, or even do it for you if you like?

I think i'm only around the corner from you (i'm in Ballyhackamore) I think I have a bally sound board you could borrow also

That’s the noise it’s making if it means anything to anyone .if it’s def the sound board or could be anything else ,grounds ,connectors etc ?

do you have another machine local to you to test that sound board in?,it does not have to be space invaders, just something of the same era would do?

I’m not sure ,maybe bigIan does .
I had a problem with my fishtales when I had it ,there was a humb and no music .it turned out to be a ground .
But yeah if I can get that sound board tested that would get the possibilities down a bit

What happens when you press the test button on the sound board?

It doesn’t do anything when that switch is pressed .
I think I will change some more connectors and see it that helps ,as the lights aren’t going in any sequence either .

The spare audio board I have is as-2888-1 also have a as-3107-9 in my vector. Don’t think either are of much use unless anyone knows better ?

Cheers
Ian

Cheers Ian
I’ve managed to lose the flippers now .
I think the solenoid connectors have been the cause .

It was the flipping connector that I had replaced going to the mpu that was causing the flipper problem .so at least it’s sorted again
Those wee connectors are a nightmare !

Currently looking at this sound board. Here’s that chip ‘caught by the soldering iron’

Just an update on this and maybe more ideas
At the min it will play without sound .lights no t sequencing but staying lit ,and score boards have gone
All Boards tested working ( sound board untested as yet )
I’m getting 5 v at lamp driver board
But not getting a steady voltage at the scoreboards
Any ideas what to try next ,ive changed a few
Connectors and rubbed a few others with sand paper ,those connectors are a nightmare !
