World Cup sweepstake thread

Ahhh... England are playing live right now (it's half time as I type). That's explains why this place is like a graveyard tonight... :(

Not the result we all wanted but I think they played pretty well really. Much more convincing than the first game of the last World Cup.

Whoa ..... Rumours abound that PIFA (Pinballers Interested in Footie Also)president Sepp Bradford took a humungous bung prior to making the World Cup draw. Hersheygate is upon us reports Chris Woods of the Sunday Scum DONCAF (DONcaster Casual Amusement Followers) appeared to have biased the draw in favour of the north with the seeded teams all being drawn north of Watford. Apart from four times winners Italy, now who has that one he asks

Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Loving the fighting talk here. Can't wait for Tuesday when my Belgium buddies **** all over Algeria.

Mwahahahahahahah.

Crikey, those Hondurans don't mind getting a boot in do they. Can understand why DFD tries to avoid arguments with his missus now.

i was thinking the same. that John Barnes lookalike Wilson Palacios was a dirty *******, the one he got a second yellow for was good enough for a red by itself for me, he basically tried to bust all the guy's ribs by slamming into him.

good game though, but i'm still not entirely convinced by that second goal - even with the benefit of freeze framing, the two best pictures don't seem to back up the third animated one, where as Lineker put it, someone just drew a ball in hastily. and the rule says that if there is any confusion whether all of the ball crossed all of the line then it's no goal, so based on the video replays i say no goal, and like Pat Nevin on the BBC who was brave enough to say "I don't think it has gone over the line. I am disagreeing with the technology. That is not a goal." (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/27442374) i don't buy it:

it will be interesting to see if France's position 1st or 2nd comes down to goal difference of one goal, as that dictates which half of the draw they go into - it's all fixed in advance after the group stages. i can predict some people demanding to redo the data like when they were all looking for that Malaysian airliner, then deciding in the end that the technology is crap so relying on the video instead, and claiming no goal. Gypsy Rose Dan foretells, cross my palm with silver, you heard it here first.

i'm too tired after last night to stay up to watch Messi, though it's very tempting. The best part of the late game last night, i reckon, was at half past one when the pub rang for last orders and i went up to order another pint. that was quality.
